Im a new banjo player (a little over a month). My banjo teacher wants me to pick 2 Avett Brothers songs for him to tab out and teach me. The first on my list is "Signs" and the next one I thought id ask the board since i would like to learn them all. So if there are any some of y'all would like, post 'em.

I was a little misinformed on the teacher tabing out the songs. He said both Signs and I would be sad would be easier to learn with chords and roles, he said that would be the case with much of there banjo stuff. He wrote out the chords but they were almost exact as what is on ultimate-guitartabs.com G, Em,C There is a D worked in a few times, like in "(C) i was bluffing then, but it seems that(d) just might have been the truth". Im playing I would be sad with a alternating thumb role (not the usual 8 note per beat thumb role but 3rd string 2nd 4th and first. and will mix in a forward or reverse role with hesitations to keep in rhythm . It took about 5 times playing it through to figure out what went were. I dont have it exact yet. Signs is the same deal with the chords and play it with a forward/reverse role. Im not even close to this one sounding right. SOrry i know i got hopes up for some tabs. Distraction #74 will be my next project, i will post what i get for it.
After playing it a few times i dont think the forward reverse role is ever played in any recordings and i dont care to do it anymore and I made some adjustments to the alternating thumb role. not the usual 8 note per beat thumb role but a 4 note per beat role 3rd string 2nd 4th and first, thumb, index, thumb, middle. i think there is a slight hesitation every 2 or 3 beats
