Wow! Did anyone get tix?

How many tickets were on pre-sale, like 5? I tried getting 2 @ $53, and it told me they couldn't find any, and then it was sold out, all within about 30 seconds.

I tried to get 4 at exactly noon and they were no longer available. Crazy!

It offered me a single ticket in row O. I threw it back, because it's going to take a better seat than that to get me to travel to Baltimore. Just being honest.

This stinks! So disappointing and all the fun has gone out of it! When do general sales start?

been refreshing (AT WORK!!) since exactly noon. NOTHING.

absolutely nothing.

bullcrap. that's all.

I got row H section 103. When do the tickets go on sale to the public?

Me too, Stirred! Unfortunately, I'm out of time and need to get back to work. Not around on Friday to order tickets when they go on sale to the general public. But if this pre-sale was any indication, Friday tix might be tough to get, too. Hope they make another stop around DC soon.

How many Couchsurfer?

I couldn't get anything either and was trying at 12 Sad Hope general sale starts soon!

I just tried for fun and was able to pull two seats in 104, row H on my first try. Just keep reloading if it says sold out, because it's not.

fifty minutes from my house and still....nothing. about out of time at work.

Sorry to margin and to everyone that didn't get anything. happy for those that did.

guess I have no choice now, but to try late tonight, which I'm sure will put me a great distance away. just doesn't seem right.

I just got two Section 104, Row H. Keep trying!!

Yeah, that was quick. I was running refresh every ten seconds using the atomic clock online (I'm a dork) and managed to get 2 in 102, row H. By 12:02 it was soldout. Maybe they'll throw some more into the pot later today or tomorrow. Driving up for the night from D.C. and staying near the venue...looking foward to it.

I am curious why these tickets are so expensive--60 including fees!

Amen Jen! We almost backed out when saw that but in the end took the dive of course. That week will probably be our big hoo-rah for the year. We just can't afford to follow like we used to - certainly not at those prices. We got H too by the way - which seems to be a trend here.

Does anyone happen to know when tickets--not the pre-sale tickets-- for the Baltimore show go on sale? Like many of you I tried getting early tickets with no luck. Sad

Got lucky refreshing incessantly and was able to grab two seats in section 104. Hope others were able to get through too!

chilixx, I was also wondering why they were so pricey this go round. I know it will definitely be worth it, but $60 is steep!

I think they go on sale Friday morning...didn't someone mention that on TAB Live awhile back, wondering when the show would be officially announced?

This makes me so mad - $175 each!

How do scalpers always manage to get so many tickets/great seats?! I know it's nothing new, but it's awful that fans can't get seats, and the profit doesn't go to the band. Ugh.

looks like I'm back to my time-wasting, ultimately pointless, but still a little bit satsifying anti-scalper email campaign.
this sucks. and 150 per ticket?? crazy. the worst part is some people can and will pay for them.
why didn't anyone here get 2nd row center?? he also says he'll get the tickets in mid-September--more likely a couple weeks after that.

and yep, CB, tickets are on sale on Friday at noon: ttp://tickets.piersixpavilion.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=89&c=4&pg

I don't get it. Why do they always get the best tickets. Something shady goes on, no doubt.

oh wow, this one replied. the best part was he called me a "reatard." perfect.
I replied back. this is kinda awesome, but mostly sickening.

whoops

How does a scalper score tickets in 103 when everyone else can't get on to get tickets in time?
WHo did you email Jen?

Looks like he lowered the price - they were $700 for the 4 seats when I posted.

Awesome you emailed him, chilixx - sounds like he's a great person.

I feel kinda dumb that I double-posted--kinda fitting. and with the board screwy, I can't even edit. glad he isn't on here. Smiling
I emailed the seller. and we went back and forth a couple times. he called me many more mean things the next time he replied. which is about what I'd expect. it's okay, if I annoyed him even a little bit, then I'm happy.
and I have no idea how he got tickets. frustrating. he said I was just jealous that I hadn't thought of it first. and that he was just "providing a service." I said that I've sold many tickets and at face-value--as you know, avidfan!! providing a service--delusional.
and I'm done. (maybe not forever.)

they were 699.00 earlier today and now 549.00--now only a little bit more than twice face-value--a STEAL. maybe the regular sale has him worried.

Could he possibly be reported for offering the tickets mid-September since we all know, they are not promised to be mailed until a week before the show?

Don't know about what you guys think, but whoever gets those tickets deserves a high five!

Stiired: Have you asked Artist Arena? Email to Dan maybe?

Chillix: Yes Indeed, thank you kindly- no "service or convenience or other charges" added. Much appreciated! And thanks for checking in with AA for me.

I have given away an extra in Ithaca when I was the only one I knew crazy enough to drive through a snowstorm and Yogini and I are good with tix. For real fans, it all evens out at the end.

But there has to be some loophole and whoever is taking advantage of the real fans should be given something other than a high 5..just not fair.

Okay, so I debated whether I should even bring this up, but it seems like the right thing to do.
When I bought tickets through the presale, the ticket price choices were 53.00 or 43.00 (before fees.)
I bought the 53.00 tickets plus paid 7.50 in fees for a total of 60.50 per ticket plus a mailing fee of 3.50. I got good seats, but I haven't heard of many other people closer than H in the center section (103) or on the sides. Other than the scalper who scored row B in the center section and I know that not everyone who buys tickets is on this board. But I do know a lot of people who were on right at 12 and got far worse seats.
When I looked at the regular sale yesterday the pricing levels started at 50.00 and 40.00 (I assume those are the only sections available for the presale.)

As it ends up, I forgot to even look, but my mom got on the regular sale at noon and got 2 in row E in the center section (103) AND she paid 50.00 plus 9.00 in fees plus 2.00 in shipping (the shipping doesn't matter to me.) Her 9.00 in fees included a 3.00 facility fee, which may be why our tickets were 53.00, instead of 50.00 and it was just automatically included. That still means that AA's convenience fee was 7.50 vs the 6.00 fee she paid. By the way, the regular sale was not through Ticketmaster, but through the local venue ticketing outlet.

So, my questions:
1. why did someone in the regular sale pay 59.00 including fees and in the presale we paid 60.50? It's only a difference of 1.50 a ticket, but I thought presales were supposed to be cheaper with fees?
2. why were such great seats available in the regular sale and not the presale?

While I know it may not seem like it, I don't really like to complain, but I think these are valid questions.

Yes, I heard this info yesterday. Someone purchased tickets through the regular sale and got row B and paid less than Artist Arena pre-sale. First, AA is supposed to be offering cheaper fees, second, I believe they promise the best seats. Something wrong here.

Wow, absolutely valid questions. So what exactly is the benefit of the presale? Is it just the chance to be upgraded to the first row?

I think it would help if the options were made clear from the start so that we could make informed decisions. So, let us know that better seats will be available in the regular sale, but you miss out on the chance for the upgrade. I know I would have made a different decision if I knew that was the case.

I glanced over this thread, and was sorry to see that the same problems that existed last summer are still going on. I got pre-sale tickets to Lisner Auditorium last June and they were the worst seats I've ever had for a TAB show.

I guess we need to go back to the days of camping out at the Freedom Factory in Glen Burnie, and buying an actual ticket in person from another human being.

Another thing that deeply concerns me is that I saw TAB with the DBTs at Pier 6 in '08, and had pretty good seats. It didn't matter at all, though, because quite a few people rushed the stage, and I saw little attempt by Security to stop it.

So, just buy Lawn or bad Pavillion seats and push toward the front?

I don't know if I want to shell out big bucks to deal with that.

Hey all,

I have two front-row center seats for the show but I can't make it up from D.C. I got two fifth-row seats during the pre-sale and then won the upgrade which was pretty sweet. The tickets from the pre-sale are being mailed a few weeks prior to the show so I won't have them in hand until about the 1st of October. I'm just selling them back to the fans at pre-sale price if anyone is interested; basically, $60 a piece. I live in Northern Virginia and we can figure out how to make the exchange when the time comes. Let me know at gotodd_99@yahoo.com - it's my junk e-mail but I'll be checking it over the next few days. Once they're gone I'll post that here.

The tickets are gone.

Thanks

Todd

Hey Margin Walker...check your messages! Smiling

Stirred - I just wrote back to you!

thanks Margin Walker, read and replied! (there has to be a better notification system than this! Smiling )

Hello All;

We apologize that presale ticket buyers ended up being charged $1.50 per ticket more than the general outlets for this show. Every ticket buyer will receive a $1.50 refund per ticket they have purchased. Please allow up to 7 - 10 days for this refund to be reflected on your account.

As far as ticket inventory goes, Artist Arena works very hard to get the best tickets for presale buyers. For this show, there were great seats available (front row, section 102 / front row, section 103 / 4th row, section 104 and plenty of seats within the first 10 rows of section 103). Please remember, there are a great deal of fans registered on the email list for The Avett Brothers. Many people participate in the presale and are able to get great inventory. In some cases, that inventory may go to people that are not active on the message boards.

Best,

Artist Arena

I appreciate the response. I first posted my comment 6 weeks ago and had pretty much given up on a reply--thanks for some explanation and for refunding the extra charge.
Out of curiosity, who decides what seats are available for the AA presales--the venue, the promoter, band managment, AA? I think most of us assume that more of the best seats would be available during a presale, and it wouldn't be possible to get seats such as row E, center section in a regular sale.
thanks!
