Also, it should be noted that I pretty much cried the entire time. It was an intense show, my company was great, I've been up since 5am and I had 2 5 hour energy shots (how am I still alive?).

lildeadhead: that pen she uses to keep her setlists? it's a human-finger bone. dipped in the blood of the ones who yell out during "murder in the city". poetic, no?
thanks ME!! I knew we could count on you.
Slight Figure of Speech, Head Full of Doubt, Go To Sleep w/ Bonnie, PGF Matthews, 25 songs total... that's enough to make a night worthwhile!
Which songs had the drummer?
wow!!!! Go to sleep, my girl!!!
Thanks so much for posting this! Taryn was about to jump into her car and drive down to Charlotte to track you down
Looks like another amazing night!
Yes, get some rest! Thanks, again, for sharing the list with us!
Wow what a set ..

I have no idea, Taryn. I was too busy crying and being ridiculous to make note of that. Tim has the official WRITTEN setlist (I assume they did it because the concert was being filmed for a DVD) and that has the tracks noted. He can chime in later. \

Great set list and thanks for posting! Those of us that weren't at the new World Capital were anxiously awaiting

Marysstikal (should I start calling her skittles now, although I was not there for the original joke?) informed me that Seth totally messed up the words for Ballad of Love & Hate and had to start over. I hope that's on the recording!
16. Murder in the City (daughter, HER mother)
so good!
how was tin man?
thanks for the speedy post, sounds like a most amazing time!
Thanks for posting. I was there, but it didn't hit me to keep the setlist until about 8 songs in, and I couldn't remember some by that point.

We are the true believers.
A few things:
1. I had the ugliest cry face during Murder and I so hope it's not featured on the DVD (my cry face, not the song).
2. I have so much love for Team Avett and the folks that I got to meet in line and inside the venue. Matt & friends--thanks for being such lovely show neighbors/knowing the sit & spread method.
3. Jim Avett is quite possibly my favorite person on the face of the planet right now.
4. I can't even think about sleeping because I'm still processing. The show was THAT good.

Was the drummer just for this show or is he going to start touring with them?
Lucas, I imagine he was just filling in for the show because the DVD was being filmed. I could be wrong though.

I have it recorded! It was great!
The show was amazing! It took 1st place over all my shows...

Changing the plans that I’ve been setting on
I’m scared by the way that my life is getting gone
we can fill in more later when we have the setlist (yes, written!)--but there were def. drums on Colorshow, Talk on Indolence, Perfect Space, Tin Man, maybe Go to Sleep? I think I counted 8 from the list, but it's in the car now.
Big boom camera panning the crowd, but mostly the stage.
Scott's guitar also was giving him trouble a verse into Slight Figure, so he stopped until they fixed it, but the other 3 guys kinda improvised til he was ready.

I wanna have friends that I can trust,
That love me for the man I’ve become, not the man that I was.
"Matt & friends--thanks for being such lovely show neighbors/knowing the sit & spread method."
As far as people around me goes this was the most pleasant show i have been to. It was nice to meet you!
The sit spread method is second to none
-Matt
Tin man
Head full of doubt
Slight figure of speech
Ahhh, I knew it!
Man I wish I had been there. So glad you all got an amazing show!

There was a dream, and one day I could see it, like a bird in a cage I broke in and demanded that somebody free it.
Just curious, what did everyone think of "Perfect Space?" It was the only song that left me feeling "meh." I'm just curious how other folks see the song.

awe man no Laundry Room. I was hoping they'd use the opportunity to blast that killer harmony that's so underplayed on the studio version. kinda bummed that there's not much older stuff on the list but it's hard to be bummed about anything really when i'll have my hands on a high def avett's blu ray eventually.
i guess there's plenty of older stuff now that i look at it. what i really mean i guess is i wanted half the set to be the screamiest songs lol.
6 songs from the new album. It was great. I love The Perfect Space...

Changing the plans that I’ve been setting on
I’m scared by the way that my life is getting gone
What a great set! I can't wait to hear it, so jealous and happy!
I could have used a 5 hour energy on the way home. I kept almost falling asleep near the end.
Seth messing up Ballad of Love and Hate was precious. He had to stop and think what the line was. Then he said something along the lines of "I'm so happy right now I can't think straight".
You could tell they were having a lot of fun on stage tonight.
A few vids popping up on YouTube already (Colorshow & Die Die Die so far). Sure to be more up tomorrow...

I took some good pictures. I'll upload them later today.
I cannot wait for the DVD, or for the 15th so I can download this live EP. I wonder which 5 songs will be on it?

"Trip on my words; and land on my heart"
I thoroughly enjoyed this set, and I cannot wait for the DVD.
By the way, the drummer that played with them last night was the session drummer that they used in studio for I&L&Y (maybe previous albums, though I'm not sure, and I doubt it.)

"We love meandering.... ...without being boring (yes we do.)"
so happy for you all! i am just picturing a ton of avett nationers around the Charlotte area with blissed out, sweet smiles on their faces!

~an electric current moves us around, we sank to our knees to worship the sound~
Scotts guitar "breaking" on slight figure was pretty funny too.
"We've made a career of breaking things and fighting through, but my guitar just broke."
something like that
Amazing show. The setlist was incredible. I'm hoping these 5 make it to the downloadable live EP...
Pretty Girl From Matthews / Salina
Tin Man
Slight Figure of Speech
Head Full of Doubt, Road Full of Promise
Perfect Space

It's not the chase that I love - it's me following you.
HOLD ON A MINUTE!!!, that's six.
Dont bank on Slight Figure of Speech or Head full of Doubt...really dont think they would give us songs from the new album. One can hope though!!

I just want Pretty Girl from Matthews to be one of the songs on the EP.
I'll drink to that!
(Or not drink...either way, I concur!)
That looks like a great set.
I'd love to see
I killed Sally's Lover
When I Drink
That's a wonderful set list! Can't wait for the dvd to come out and the ep!
" I just want Pretty Girl from Matthews to be one of the songs on the EP "
- Me too MAS, I was sitting there with that excited feeling in my gut when they came out, wondering what it was going to be and...BOOM. There were a lot of requests for it on a wishlist post last week, and sure enough
also wouldnt mind on the EP
Talk of Indolence ( sounded great )
Old Joe Clark ( with the live crowd noise and ..." sure we'll play one more for ya"
Murder in the City was also terrific.

BackfromSpace: I should have made my post more clear - I am hoping for the 4 new / as-of-yet-unreleased songs, and either PG from Matthews or Salina as the 5th.
And PGfromWinston: You are probably right about them not releasing Head Full of Doubt or Slight Figure on the EP...I'm just hopeful they will! I mean, after all, they promised us the new album on the 8th, and maybe since it didn't happen, they will give us a version of a few songs from the CD to psych us up for the album's release? I dunno, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

@maestro...I know what you mean. Keep those fingers crossed! That would be awesome!!

Did they play How Many More times during Old Joe Clark, or just soundcheck it?
I saw a video on YouTube with out How Many More Times. I was wondering if they didn't want to play any covers (granted Old Joe Clark is not an original, right?) on account of the show being released as a DVD???
But that's a brutal tease for those that heard the sound check, no?
yeah, they just soundchecked. someone's getting it soon though, because they also soundchecked it in dewey beach earlier in the week...
They soundchecked Diamond Joe in Charlotte among other things so that might be coming soon to a setlist near you.
I am hoping for Tin Man and Head Full of Promise, Road Full of Doubt at the very least on the EP as far as new songs go. It would make sense that they put them on it considering that the EP is taking the place of the album being released.
