I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...simply put their music is amazing! Beyond the obvious, I honestly believe that no matter what emotion I'm feeling, there is an Avett Brothers song that completely describes it. Or if it is a negative emotion, there is a song that can make me feel better. I think the most impressive aspect of The Avett Brothers' music is the emotion that goes into it. Each song you can feel the emotion, whether it's happy, sad, angry, love, hate, or absolutely anything in between or beyond those.
I believe that each time they perform a song, they are replaying that experience in their mind, whatever it was that made them write the lyrics in the first place. When seeing them in concert, you absolutely feel every emotion coming through in every song.
Aside from their music, I have had the opportunity to meet all of the guys and have never been so impressed. These guys are musicians and celebrities, but talk to you like you are a friend. They keep their feet grounded and their spirits high. They understand that at any point, everything could be pulled out from under them. When they are on stage and the crowd applauds and they say "Thank you". you know they really mean it.
I am a very big fan of music in general, and have been for years. I have also played piano for 18 years and know how it feels to really be into the music you are playing. I have never been moved to so many emotions by music, and The Avett Brothers have touched each emotion with some song or another.
I have also never been so willng to drive or fly to anywhere money allows to go see a concert. And not just once a year, but as many times as life allows to see these guys in concert. Each concert is a unique experience. Each setlist is sewn together just precisely to tug on our heart strings. And when the final song is played, we can't help but beg for more, and thus far have been lucky enough to get encores at every concert. But when the encore concludes, the first thougt is, when can I see another show, there's gotta be another one I can squeeze in before the next "planned' show. They give so much in their music, and yet constantly leave me wanting more and more.
