I'm a fan (and you should be too) because... the Avett Brothers are really something special. The first time I saw them was at the Asheville Music Jamboree in the summer of 2007. I think it was somewhere around their second song that they became my favorite band. I was blown away with the intensity of their show, the passion they exude, and the beautiful music they make.

Not only are they great musicians and a fun band to see, but they are genuinely nice guys. When I saw their two day show in Athens, Ga last year, I realized they were more than just a great band. The morning after the first night in Athens, I went out to breakfast with a friend to a little place called "The Grit". When the waiter seated us, I realized I was two tables away from the band. Not wanting to be "that guy" I didn't go over and bother them. However shortly after we got our food, Seth walked past our table while attempting to take a phone call. As he walked past, I said "hey Seth, great show last night. Thanks a lot". He said "Oh thanks, man. I appreciate it". What impressed me was, when he came back from taking his call he came up to our table and said "I'm sorry about that I was trying to take a call, but thanks a lot for coming to the show, it really means a lot". To me, that alone was worth the 400 miles I drove to see them.

I've seen the Avett Brothers play six shows, and I currently have tickets to see two more. With any luck, I'll see them many more times. I can't wait!
