Why I'm a fan?
I've been a fan for sometime now, but I just joined this site, as I usually don't join band websites, but I decided "what the hell, I really like the Avett's."
Well, what really captured and stood out to me when I first listen to the Avett's, was the guitar, I'm really interested in playing the guitar and I've been taking lessons. My strength in playing is finger-picking and enjoy playing songs that are played with the clawhammer style picking, and I have noticed that alot of their songs are played with this style, I also found that a majority of their songs are played with rather easy chords and the music is not as blended with all the other instruments and their blemishes are not touched up (except for Emotionalism...But I like that album, so I don't mind...) like so many songs are today. But the more songs I heard I found that the Brothers had real down-the-earth personalities and real natural, raw energy, that they don't lose even when performing live.

uponcripplecreek, Brende was paraphrasing lyrics from "Salvation Song", a song about the reason that they sing, write and perform with every fiber of their being, and, if they get famous, well then...
I go to shows alone all the time.
My first Avett show I went alone, and I had a truly great time.
I just seen Old Crow open for Derek Trucks about a month ago alone, and had a great time.
In fact I'm...
