This is great, everyone [ Avett fans] is happy for the most part and I understand if someone has a problem with the EP, I also understand people defending the songs, but then again the people who are saying the songs are better live have a point too, however, those talking about progression in the sound seem reasonable, not to mention the fans who would love it regardless and some people think it's Rick Rubin's fault, while others find him to be a good producer and a good fit for the guys.

It's interesting to see people's comments, I love it. When I first heard the sound of "Kick Drum Heart" on the EP, I couldn't get the smile off my face, I started laughing and got chills on chills. The weight of hearing it on a piano and not the keyboard gives it such an added buoyancy that isn't there live. Seth still lets loose with his vocals, Scott kills his verse and the "bells and whistles" don't seem like studio overkill but well at home. This was the song I thought would remain similar to the live version, but it blew by me so fast when I heard it due to the added enjoyment of the variation.

"Laundry Room" is what it is live and otherwise, I didn't know how they would handle it on the album. I'd say it would belong in the Gleam series but the instrumentation that carries it lifts it out of that (not knocking the Gleams). Also, the way that they can sell a song about a boy and a girl, and not say one corny thing the entire time amazes me. After I hear "breathing time-machine", I think that I could have thought of that and relate instantly to that feeling ( I was drunk one night and put on a cd as I went to bed and it was like walking through deja vu without thinking I've done this before but I can be in the period of time when I listened to this ).

One more thing, on my way back from the Minnesota show, every time a bird flew by I'd whisper "Avett", it's fun. Plus, if you're with friends and fans and a flock goes over it would sound crazy as hell to surrounding people who aren't fans.
