Great setlist! Wish I could have been there!
What's the "TAB helped me beat cancer sign" all about?

Spanish Pipedream is the John Prine song. Great setlist!! Ty!

WOW this show was amazing!
I loved hearing ballad of love and hate with the greatest sum following.
I told someone that I hope they play Salvation Song and my wish came true! Thanks Avett for a great show

For a show so light on older songs I thought it was great. Langhorne was kick A$$ and the Brothers were in fine form. I was even pretty happy with the crowd. I only got ticked of during Ballad of Love & Hate. That's pretty good for me. I met some nice people and left the venue with a big smile on my face. You can't beat that.

Great show! My first Ballad!!

* regarding the "The Avett Brothers Helped Me Beat Cancer" sign...

During the last chorus of I & L & U, someone (who'd been back further, I think) came way up in front by Bobby and lifted up this sign. I saw it come up, and then I saw Scott notice it. And he just looked right at her and pointed and did the *pitter pat* over his heart thing that he does when he's really feeling it from someone/the crowd/etc...

Then when the song ended, he and Seth came right up by that person and grabbed her sign and hugged it. And then they held it up so everyone else in the crowd could see it, too.
And then Scott got back on the microphone and said, ever so humbly, as only Scott Avett can render such a phrase.
‎"Hey, the Avett Brothers don't exist without y'all...so we ALL helped her beat breast cancer"

Just a beautiful moment of pure love pouring forth between the boys and the crowd, and this one person in particular. Just, wow. And there are a lot of moments like that, but this one brought instant tears to my eyes. This is not your average band, or your average crowd,

And then they launched into Colorshow, with perhaps, just a little more oomph behind it tonight, for that lady, whoever she is. I'm glad she won her fight, and I'm glad she shared that moment with everyone tonight, because it was really heartwarming. So if you're out there reading this, thank you! Smiling

There was a whole bunch of us, from across the United States, that were following the tweets from this show. When the story of the sign came up, we all had lumps in our throats, and many with tears in our eyes. Thanks to all of you who let us (virtually) be in the hall to hear about that great moment. What an amazing night for you all that were there, and for all of us that got to hear about it. These guys never cease to amaze me on how much they give to their fans!

Great setlist!

I hope the fact that they played Salvation Song last night doesn't mean they want play it tomorrow night. I have never heard it live and I'm celebrating my 49th birthday with them tomorrow night.

Chrissydee, you said it. There was a lot of love for the boys and our Avett friends on the road from every corner of the country while we were all connected last night. Thanks, CoffeeBomb, that was such a great moment and I'm so glad you got to witness it. Those boys have hearts as big as the whole outdoors. Just when you think you can't love them more...

It was an amazing show and my hubby and I are so blessed to have been there!! Met some great Avett fans, great time before the show, amazing show and setlist...couldn't have asked for anything better.

@sundayrehab, when the drunk was guy yelling AVETTTTTTTTTTT during Ballad of Love and Hate, I told him if he didn't shut up I was going to knock his teeth out. I was so annoyed.

@bon hoooooo s*** i was about to deck that guy

@larossa9, we all were. esp when he came and took my seat. ...we just didn't want to go to jail. Smiling
Hopefully he doesn't come to Savannah.
Other than him, the concert was amazing. I can't wait for Wednesday

They also kept the lady's sign so I would like to think they probably hooked her up with a returned autographed sign. That would have been real cool. All in all a great show!! I can't wait to see them again. Getting back to Charleston at 2am was well worth it!

That concert was amazing! My month has been made and I am going to see them 3 more times in the next 2 weeks. I know the girl who had the sign and she actually got to go back and meet the band afterwards and get autographs and pics and I heard they even sang for her! Lucky girl!

Oh man, what a show! Go to Sleep just made my night! And bluminonion, thanks for all the recommendations for places to go! We had a great weekend!

Thank you guys soooo much!! I'm the girl that had the sign "The Avett Bros. helped me beat cancer." I battled metastatic breast cancer that moved to different areas of my body for 4 years. Due to the treatments I was always ill and missed the chance of seeing The Avett Brothers live in concert. Last September I found out that they were coming to Atlanta, Ga and I promised myself that I was NOT going to miss out on the chance to see them again. I worked hard, I fought hard, and needless to say- When September finally came, I was just a couple of weeks remission and CANCER-FREE!! Soooooo that is how The Avett Brothers helped me to win my battle with cancer.
Thanks guys!! - C. Nicole Willgus
Oh and fyi; I didn't get to meet the band due to the mass amount of fans surrounding the tour bus. But I tried!!

CNWillgus, did you ever get your sign back, or did they keep it? Thanks for checking in, and for sharing your story.

No I didn't get the sign back. But that's ok! They can keep it as a little reminder of how amazing and inspirational they are. Smiling

Thanks for sharing that story. I didn't think it was possible to love this band any more than I already do.

Kinda hoping they might somehow get that sign back to you with a little something extra.

Got a new camera a month or so ago and never used the HD video setting until Sunday night. Not a professional job by any means but not bad for the 1st run. We had great seats so thought I'd take advantage of it. I'm uploading Ballad & Greatest sum right now and should be up soon. Gotta' check and see what else I have full versions of. Ballad and Greatest Sum of course have way too much hooping & hollering as usual. Anyhow, if I'm breaking any rules posting this just let me know and I'll delete it.

@singletrackjunkie: the video is great! what kind of camera do you have?

@2blklabs: Nikon 8100S- Was tough not going with a DSLR since I have some amateur photography experience but needed something quick and easy that takes good photos and video. Got a lil' one on the way and this thing is perfect size to fit in a shirt pocket or cargo short pocket. I highly recommend it!

@Shawna: Thanks!! I hope so too. That would phenomenal!! I gave my contact information to their manager, I hope they get it. :]

BTW If anyone happened to have taken pictures of them holding the sign, I would be soooooo grateful if I could see them. I was so blown away at the moment that I didn't get any for myself. You can find me via Facebook "Christian Nicole Willgus"
Thanks guys! Smiling

Singletrackjunkie....your videos are stunning! Great job! I gotta get me that camera.

The show was wicked, I think one of the best Avett shows I've been too!!! and Langhorne Slim has improved a lot since I saw them last, but Avett was mindblowing. We stayed out afterwards to try to meet them and there were only six of us left but they still weren't coming out. Hopefully the fifth time (next time I see them) will be the charm.
@CNWillgus I took some pictures of you with your sign, unfortunately I had my 50mm lens so the zoom's fixed and I wasn't able to get any background. Let me know if you want the pictures

@Mahmad I would absolutely LOVE to see the pictures! Smiling Thank you!!
