"One idea the brothers have discussed recently, Scott said, is their dream tour: a lineup of artists from the Carolinas including the Avett Brothers, singer-songwriter and Jacksonville native Ryan Adams and indie rock group Band of Horses, whose members are spread across South Carolina."

I know Scott's a fan of Ryan, that would be pretty awesome.
avetts and band of horses would be a dream show for me
avetts and BoH, yes!
big crybaby ryan adams....no thanks.
wherever that one takes place, i'll be there.
I really like Ryan Adam's music, but from what I've read he's kind of an a**. That said I'd certainly go to that show, hopefully TAB would play last.
Ryan is a person who needs therapy, lots & lots of therapy, and a trip or five to rehab. I chatted with him a few times years back & he is actually quite nice, but he just needs, uh, well, refer back to sentence one.
TAB, BOH, & Ryan Adams? Could only be made better by a Whiskeytown reunion as well. I have to say though, that also would be my dream show. Bondseye, the thing about Ryan is sort of like olychild Ive meet Ryan and talked to him a few times, he is a really nice guy, but he had an inner ear infection, as well as Eye issues that damn near made him deaf and blind, he claims thats why he was so cranky and drank so much. Having talked to him in LA with Mandy @ Amoeba Records he was really funny, and genuine, hell he even remembered me from the Dallas, after party. My wife even commented that he was a completely different person than years ago. I think hes gotten some stuff worked out, but only time will tell.
You can tell a large difference in his performances on Live Archive when Ryan is using and clean. He is an amazing artist; one of the best songwriters in his generation. I'm glad he is back in the studio again and I'm looking forward to his new material next year.
I think the Avetts would probably have to open for him still, just based on fanbase scale.
I’m a fan of Ryan’s music but the one time I saw him live it was a mess. It was his first return to the Raleigh area in years and I went as much to see how he was treated by the crowd as to hear him. He burned a LOT of bridges when he left NC. I don’t begin to know the details but there is a lot of ill will towards him. I remember people on Guitar Town posting about their seats being close enough for tomato tossing. The show was bizarre. The sound was dreadful. At the end he brought out Caitlin Cary for a mini Whiskytown reunion. They attempted to do 3 or 4 songs but could not remember any of them. Each one fell apart as they even resorted to asking the audience if anyone remembered the words. I love Caitlin’s music as much as I like Ryan’s but, from my point of view, that night was a very sad affair. I would like to see the Brothers stick with someone that can be expected to deliver night after night without fail, just like they always do.
Hey Folks!
This is pretty cool (speaking of Ryan Adams) -- over the weekend Ryan tweeted twice about Frontier Ruckus, on Ramseur Records -- http://twitter.com/theryanadams..
he said:Frontier Ruckus "Deadmalls and Nightfalls"- this is what I want to get back to. Those tunes go forever
& loving the new Frontier Ruckus! great band http://amiestreet.com/music/frontier-ruckus/bcoPH3CoslYx/?utm_source=twi...
fun, huh.
yeah I would prefer it to be a whiskeytown reunion as well than ryan alone.
Could we just get Frontier Ruckus involved instead?
Now that they are both managed through Ramseur and the same booking agency, I would LOVE to see that double bill. In NC, please and thank you.
Was into Ryan way before I found the Avetts. Was infatuated with his music until I saw him live.
It was very bizarre and not an energy I wanted to be around.
Hopefully he has straightened his life out because the man can write some beautiful music.
Didn't he marry Mandy Moore recently?
When I found the Avetts I discovered a band that was living the kind of life I want to resonate with.
There was a sense of congruency , of walking the talk.
That would be a show I certainly wouldn't miss!! I love all of them! Ryan is strange but his music makes up for his nerdy weirdness.
I would love to see them play with Band of Horses! I don't know too much by Ryan Adams, and from what people are saying about his live show, he would certainly have to step up his game to play with the Avetts.
I've seen Ryan play some amazing shows, even when he was out of his skull. That being said, I walked out on the last show I attended 6 years ago or so & I NEVER walk out on shows. Their is a fine line between wasted genius & so helplessly wasted that genius is obscured & he crossed it that night. What really got to me was that the audience seemed to be enjoying what I found to be a truly sad & depressing display on his part.
blasto2236..Hell Yeah Frontier Ruckus would totally fit in with those bands, and Ryan has recently on Twitter praised the ablum by Frontier Ruckus. Man this show is turning into a festival experience. If we could get The Good Life, Horse Feathers, Lucero, Ryan Bingham & The Magnolia Electric Company involved we would have an awesome Day of music.
def Frontier Ruckus. They were instant love. So lets see we have a all day show consisting of The Avetts headliner backed by day performances of BOH, Whiskeytown Reunion, and Frontier Ruckus. Let the world solve its problems and have a Uncle Tupelo reunion (dream that would never happen lol)
I echo what Docmike said. I've always loved Ryan's music since Whiskeytown. I remember when "Strangers Almanac" came out. That was the album that turned me on to alt.country and lead me to the roots of it all like Gram Parsons and Uncle Tupelo. It honestly changed my life. And Ryan Adams and his music will always be a part of my musical life. But all of that being said, when I went to my first and only Ryan Adams show in late 2001, I didn't have any desire to go back to another show. He stopped playing guitar half way through the show b/c he needed his right hand free to hold on to the 1.5L bottle of wine. It was just a mess. Still, I have all his music and will continue to enjoy it for what it is. Now that he's (seemingly) cleaned up, I'd probably give him another chance live if a tour ever comes back this way. He posts on Facebook a lot and seems to be of good mind and good spirit... so time will tell.
Van Morrison (the Irish rock artist from, for most of you, the past) has been a problem forever. He, apparently, is an egocentric jerk.
I think the song Madame George (from the 70's, back when he was a certified 'rock star") is the most brilliant piece of music I have ever heard. (Subjective, of course, and I know it.)
I saw him in concert, a while back, and hated it. Worst concert ever. I don't think that turning your back on your audience for the entire, and very short, gig is good manners. And he was boring.
Yet, I love his music.
Ryan Adams, apparently, has grown. I am up for overlooking a lot, if he comes through with music that moves me.
I have never met nor seen him in concert, but I like some of his music. I try to keep an open mind.
(Except, by the way, for Jack White. I apologize to all who admire him. I cringe, and am sorry that I do. But I do.)
@djjuniper holy crap I forgot about Uncle Tupelo. Yeah put them in our all day festival as well. We could call it the A'int No Way Festival, because their A'int No Way it would happen. HA. Def Avett Headlining although I don't know if Jeff Tweedys delicate ego could handle that...
@Lynn I saw Van Morrison a few years agon and much like you I was less than impressed. My father and I went together and he said it was pretty much like his show he saw in 1973, which wasn't a good thing.
I've been on board with Whiskeytown/Ryan since shortly after the Strangers Almanac was released and couldn't get enough of his music. Caught him with Phil & Friends at Red Rocks which was outstanding all though he did struggle a bit through some of the songs. Finally saw him with the Cardinals in Salt Lake a few years ago. It was a "good" show and speaking for the average concert goer I don't think anyone had bad things to say but I felt he phoned it in and played down to the crowd. Lost a lot of respect for him and I will not travel great distances to see him in the future. Just another reason why I love the brothers, as in 20 + shows I have yet to see them give anything but their best effort every time, all the time.
That being said - if Ryan and TAB do their thing together...I'm there.
The Avett Brothers and Band of Horses...I'm there. I can't even imagine how happy I would be seeing my two favorite bands! Ryan Adams is good too...so that's a definite plus! Oh please, please, please let this happen! (And somewhere near NC
)
