AH. Completely jealous of this one. Not even worth listing all the songs I wish I got to hear. Lucky!
daaaaaaang. that's all i got to say about that.
Ohh! This makes me so much more bummed that I couldn't get tickets to this one! Three of my have to hear (That I haven't already) are on this:

Awesome set list!

And if it compromises truth, then we will go.
Y'all, the new version of Travelin' Song they played was off the chain. No words. Hope someone got video!

Team Avett #36
lildeadhead: that pen she uses to keep her setlists? it's a human-finger bone. dipped in the blood of the ones who yell out during "murder in the city". poetic, no?
is it the travelin song version they did at sound check in augusta (slowed down seth on drums singing)? i have really been wanting to hear that... or what it evolved to.

Burn the questions. Burn the shame.
Paige-yep! Jacob Edwards (from the Shivs) was on drums last night, Seth was on guitar.

what songs did Jacob Edwards play on?
Ughh. So jealous. Traveling Song + If It's the Beaches is my dream encore. Was Where Have All the Average People Gone? just Scott or the whole band?

Nothing's good because nothing lasts. And all that comes, it comes here to pass.
I would voice my pain, but the change wouldn't last.
All that comes, it comes here to pass.
I was wondering when they'll finally play the new Traveling Song.
It was just Scott and his guitar on Where Have All the Average People Gone?
did anyone tape it by any chance?

hmmm...new, huh?
i say that like i'm not gonna love it (i'm sure i will), but i love the OLD one. someone post a vid, please, so i can say i love them both.
omg! such a great setlist! un freaking believable!

"A country girl can't be made out of anybody here, don't touch it, it loves you not."
Traveling Song was the first Avett song I ever heard. I'm nervous
--
there's only one thing here worth hoping for
No need to be nervous, the new version is gorgeous! I actually like it even better than the original, which is unusual for me.
I hope someone got a full video, if not, I did get half of it on my phone (filled up!) and the other half with my camera video.
The setlist was fantastic and the energy of the band was just pure *fun*! I had a smile plastered on my face from song #1 until the end

I gave to you my ugly brown coat, you made it pretty when you put it on....
I agree that the Traveling Song was great and I really liked the Roger Miller cover. It seemed like a good match for the boys. I had a great time except for the fact that the bass in the balcony was way too strong on songs after Bob switched from electric to stand-up bass. However, when I went downstairs to catch up with some friends it was not as bad. This though did not effect what was an awesome high energy show. They never dissappoint when they play in Cleveland.
Sure seems like the boys have started this tour off with a bang. Murder in the City => Tear Down the House was ridiculous. Both "Beach" songs too. Gearing up for the big trip to Europe! Personally, I think I still prefer the original Traveling Song, but this one was also excellent - just different.
Rhonda, if you liked it, I feel better
I would love to see a video!

@littledeadhead - I heard some yelling during "Murder" - did you collect any scalps?
I'm not sure where it fell in the order but I know they played "Shame". I thought the sound quality in the balcony was outstanding. Closing was gorgeous!
Ooohhh yeah. The new version of Traveling song was freakin' awesome.
Also great to see all the good People of Ohio out in full force.
I brought a bunch of people for their first time and I'm really glad they got to see this show as their first.

Things change and get strange with the movement of time, it's happening right now to you.
We made the trip down from Detroit for our first Avett show and I am kicking myself for somehow missing out on these guys for the last few years. The set was incredible -- I was singing along with the songs I didn't know because I was swept up by the majority who knew every line. Traveling Song was one of the best - and if the original is potentially better I will have to check that out.
My only complaint was the venue - this HOB has one of the worst set ups I have ever seen. There were dead spots all over where the sound was better in the bathroom. The low ceiling at the main floor perimeter cuts off a third of the venue, the balcony angle is awful, way too much good space allocated to too-few VIP seats and the openings to the main floor are too small, and the main floor has no grade. All that aside we carved out a spot on the floor (albeit behind some 6-5" Lerch) and enjoyed the show. A bathroom break and couple more drinks would have been nice but...not worth the hassle and certainly not worth missing a song.
One last question....is it really necessary to take 127 pictures on your cell phone? Wouldn't 10 be enough?
"I hope someone got a full video, if not, I did get half of it on my phone (filled up!) and the other half with my camera video."
sorry to be impatient, but if you get some time and wouldn't mind posting it that'd be wonderful. there seem to be very few videos from these shows and i really want to hear that song! thanks.

Burn the questions. Burn the shame.
OK, I have never posted a video to this board, so give me a few hints about "how-to" and I'll do my best to get it up here!

I am with you regarding my suprise at how bad the venue was. I was really expecting a lot more from the HOB. It was my first show as well and I loved it. Planning on a trip to Louisville in the summer to see them again. I would love if they scheduled a few additional show around the area since they are going to be passing through.
Rhonda, I guess there are a few options. You can upload the video directly to facebook and post a link to it, or upload to youtube or another video hosting site. I am not really that experienced, either. I have done both and facebook seems a little easier and quicker, but I could be wrong. Good luck! and thanks for trying to do it for us!!

OK, here is my very bad audio recording of the 1st two minutes of Traveling Song slowed down version (Cleveland 2/27)....I will gladly delete this when Chris uploads his better version (from Indy 2/28) But just to whet your appetite: (I hope it works!)
Be forewarned, the bass is way too loud and the voices are not clear as a result.
It didn't sound like this "live" though

Loved this show so much! It was my friend's first Avett show, and she kept saying "this is so great!" randomly throughout it. <3
I took some photos at the show if anyone wants to take a look: right here
