How early for Red Rocks?
How early for Red Rocks?
Posted: Mittwoch, Juli 6, 2011 - 10:38
My husband and I went to the concert at Red Rocks last year and paid for the assigned seating. This year we bought general admission tickets because last year people who had GA tickets got better seats. We will have our three year old daughter with us so I am just wondering; how early should we arrive? Thanks for your help!

i dont know how early to arrive but keep in mind that there are a couple entrances.
There are multiple entrances and it depends on if you want to go down or up to get to your seats and where you want to sit. Will your daughter be in a stroller? Do you want to be in the front rows?
She won't be in a stroller and I don't want to be in the last few rows. We don't want to be right down in front but not clear in the back either.
from what i've read the venue is pretty large and people aren't TOO crazy about getting there so early. i think you should be find if you dont mind sitting 10-12 rows back or so if you get there and hr early or so.
this isn't by experience though. i'm going out in august to a show were the band has crazy fans so i know already i'm going to have to be there balls ass early.
I would get there an hour or so before the doors open (6P) to ensure that you are in the front GA section. Rows 2-24.
See you there -
John
Thanks so much!!!
Hi there. Longtime Red Rocks Concert Guy here and I have to say that a 6pm arrival time MIGHT be pushing it.
Then again, it might not.
I've seen TONS of shows at Red Rocks since '89 (kind of cool to think Red Rocks is the closest concert venue to my home in the mountains here).
Point being, every show is different. The band and DAY of the show factor in.
It's going to be a Saturday Show, so people will arrive early and often to tailgate. It's just a matter of how inspired people get to head up to the lines early.
I showed up one hour early one year to see Willie Nelson and got 3rd row center.
Another year, I showed up two hours early for A PERFECT CIRCLE at RED ROCKS and got 60th Row (Rows 2-24 were GA, 25-59 were Reserved and 60-70 were GA).
I plan on being down front for this one, so a minimum of two hours early is my goal.
This will be my first Avett Brothers Concert, so, NEEDLESS TO SAY, I'm getting very excited now.
It should be an Amazing Night on the Rocks once again!
Between the iclips pay-per-view, live simulcast at the speedway AND the simplistic fact that RED ROCKS IS THE GREATEST OUTDOOR VENUE IN AMERICA, Saturday night can't come soon enough!
I hope to get there by 5:30. How does that sound? Last year we had assigned seating in row 30-something. I was so upset we didn't do the GA tickets. People got there so much later than us and had better seats. I hope we haven't made a mistake (remember the 3 year old). A long wait doesn't sound fun but totally worth it!!!
how did it go? what entrance did you guys end up using and what time did you guys arrive?
i saw this horrible video of a show at red rocks where once the crowd was let it, a bunch of people laid out tarps to claim space for themselves. i think thats BS.
i'll be at red rocks next month. i can't wait!
