Holy Ghost Tent Revival and Hoots and Hellmouth opening would be tons of fun. I also really enjoyed Sally Ford and Langhorne Slim opening in Asheville for New Years.

Well not that we have a vote BUT if we did I would throw my vote to Holy Ghost Tent Revival.

...The Sunday Morning Rehab Show...
.............. on WQFS 90.9 fm..............
It’s more fun than a week at Betty Ford.
Yeah, that title did read like I was suggesting we had some sort of influence on the matter. Not my intent. I've never seen HGTR so an introduction to them followed by TAB would be fun for me. Nice meeting you the other day, by the way!

HGTR is playing in Asheville for $8 on 6/12. If it isn't sold out, I'll check em out and report back then.

A vote would be sweet, and I would vote every day if possible for HGTR. I haven't seen Langhorne in a long time, so that would be my second vote.

HGTR, Langhorne, PF and Mo and/or Samantha Crain. Not that I'm coming. I found Sally Ford to be uninspiring live. It might have been a sound issue.

Ohhh, I loved Sallie Ford live! Also Knoxville wasn't her best night, so that could've been it.
However, my vote goes to HGTR, Langhorne, or PF & Mo.

"I need HEEEEELP!

I think SCYTHIAN (I saw them at Merlefest and they were on fire) and the Carolina Chocolate Drops would have the crowd verry ready for TAB when they hit the stage. If TAB, CCD & Scythian were on the bill I'd pay ticket price never udder a negative word...
Leftover salmon would be great. Haven't seen those guys in years. Hell they may not even be touring anymore.

That'd be awesome if the Chocolate Drops opened. And I saw Scynthian for a few songs at MerleFest and they definitely had the crowd going and seemed very energetic. They're playing for free in two weeks in Johnson City, TN if anyone cares.

Hey CbusTrev, what date are they playing in JC? I didn't see it on their website or Myspace.
--
With Lucifer beneath you and God above, if either one of 'em asks you what you're living of say, "Love."
Scynthian was playing at the Blue Plum Festival in JC on 6/4 but apparently they've been replaced for some reason. I thought I was crazy at first but I found this:
http://www.gotricities.com/article.php?id=7165
I've never been to the festival but Donna The Buffalo is playing Friday and SCOTS is playing the "second" stage on Saturday so I might make the run up there. It is free, after all.

Low Anthem, Low Anthem, Low Anthem... That band is way good. Although I don't know if they would be good for the big amphitheater atmosphere, I would love to see them again.

Oh yes, please add Low Anthem and Carolina Chocolate to my list.

Scynthian would be interesting to see agian

I don't know about that.. They are fun to watch, I saw them last night and they are very energetic to say the least. Davethebuilder, I saw you there, but you were up front and I couldn't even get inside the building it was so packed. They've come a long way pretty quick. They would make for an awesome opening band. Let's make that happen
Someone start a facebook page.

I'm going to Shh-booms
Good idea, wyson. I can't do it now, but if I knew people would get on board and not leave me hanging like a fool, I would do it later today.

I know it's not possible, but I'd love to see Mumford & Sons and the Avetts share the stage. It would totally blow minds (at least that's how I feel after seeing M &S this past Saturday in Columbus).

Wyson - Thanks for the introduction to Onward, Soldiers. That's good stuff!
I would back an effort to have HGTR open for TAB. I don't know how much influence a FB page would have on that topic, but a simple post here seems to have changed the Columbus venue. It's worth a shot.

"I'm a little nervous 'bout what you'll think when you see me in my swimming trunks."
HGTR was awesome last night! Sorry I missed you Wyson. My daughter told me she felt famous after they sung Happy Birthday to her. If I can be "glass half empty" for a moment I don't think there's any way they open for TAB. I asked Stephen about it. He said that Columbia probably has a lot of say in the matter plus TAB mgmt doesn't cotton to them. Probably for the reason mentioned.
Stephen's probably right about Columbia's opinion counting for a whole heck of alot, but the latter reason sucks out loud, and I hope it's not true. It would be really cool if they took some fan persuasion into account when thinking about openers for this one. I don't expect the band's career decisions to be completely built around fans' decisions and opinions (that would be stupid), but just this one time...give us a vote, and if it's doable with the band we vote for, then let's do it. Come on, that would be sweet. I know this started out as just a hypothetical, but the idea has me pretty excited. (I'm also on a big HGTR kick right now, which probably multiplies my enthusiasm.)
And....I'm off the soapbox.

BAND OF HORSES would be great! I just saw them open for Widespread Panic in Raleigh about a month ago. Great band!

I talked Dane into joining me for a Holy Ghost show a few years back and he liked them a lot. I don't think anyone in the Ramseur/Avett family has anything against the band.

just checked out Onward, Soldiers. very nice! thanks Wyson. it'd be nice to see TAB support another NC band with the Raleigh show.
maybe...there won't be an opener, like in Cary....
BUT, I'd love to see HGTR open for them. ME, that's probably a pipedream, but I'd love MaS, too!

Okay, so last night, I got caught up in the 24 series finale, but tonight, I should really have a chance to do it. And you all better join.

For those of us still living in the 20th century, is this going to be like some kind of petition on Facebook? Kind of like the Betty White on SNL thing? Do I have to be a Facebook user to get on board or can I support it some other way? My wife does FB and she's a huge HGTR fan too so I'm sure she'll jump on the bandwagon.
I've never done this before...most of the time I'm not caught up with the times, but yeah, I guess that's what I'm going for. I'll post a link if I can figure this out. And if I can't figure it out, I'll post that too.

Edit...I can't even make a freakin' hyperlink. It cannot be that I was the right person for the job.

Elvis Perkins would be a really cool opener. The Heartless Bastards are always fun, live. They are great.
I'm just going to throw Ryan Adams out there.

"I wonder which brother is better, which one our parents love the most...he said I love you and I'm proud of you both in so many different ways."
Oh hell yeah Hoots and Hellmouth would be a hellacious opener for TAB! Glad to hear someone out there in radioland has heard of them!
There was a rumor that the Car. Choc. Drops would open for TAB at the Peace Center a few years back that ran around town up until just a few weeks before the show. I saw them @ the Hub-Bub for the first time, and they blew me away. That's some Appalachian Old-Time Soul right there! The crowd really got in on Sourwood Mountain, it was awesome!
Tyson, the Courdory Road is disbanding in July. They're all gettin hitches and raisin' families. I heard they aren't adding any additional dates not already booked. The last date is slated for the Cashiers Mountain Music Festival July 2nd if I'm not mistaken. If we can scrounge up the cash, the fam and I will head up there. They'd be a great pairing and opener for TAB, but they'll be working that 9 to 5 'round that time.
It's a shame. And I can't seem to find their EP with '1889, Johnstown PA' on it anywhere. I hear it on WNCW, but it's not available online or at any store. It's a great pickin tune. Maybe at a merch table. Cashiers is one of the most beautiful areas of the Blue Ridge. Check the festival out if you can. Steep Canyon Rangers will be there as well!
OCMS and TAB doing a group pick of old-time tunes would be the baddest show of the year, but it'll never happen. Who headlines something like that? When Old Crow, Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch, the Felice Brothers, Justin Townes Earle all came together at the end of the last date on the Big Suprise tour, the resulting near three hours of music was possibly the best show I've ever seen. Ever. A chorus of about 17+ of the best musicians playing today, playing together in gorgeous 17 part harmony, just having the time of their lives. This is once in a lifetime awesomeness! I've seen TAB blow the roof off time and time again, but just imagine if they played a 6-10 date tour with a band that was at par with them that they completely clicked with, and just played classic tunes, each others tunes, and anything that brought a smile to their faces. It'd be solid gold!
