Are you talking about in 'Laundry Room'? ...I'm assuming so......Scott usually says it after the line 'Teach me how to use the love that people say you make'...'is it a lie?'

you can make your own interpretation from that...

I am a breathing time machine...

"Is it a lot?" Or "It's a lot!"

And your loveliness, no, it doesn't help
No, your beautiful smile don't help

i've also heard people shout "casino" or something like that during "laundry room." anyone know what thats about?

In "Laundry Room," Scott often asks/shouts "Is it alot?" or something else to that effect. I don't know anything about a lie. Strange...

"Life's too short, just be nice."

I've always heard "it's a lie". In the Norfolk video, I think he asks, "Is it a lie?".

I assume meaning.....is what people say a lie?

Things change and get strange with the movement of time.
It's happening right now to you.

If the Beatles were from Appalachia instead of Liverpool, they might sound like the Avett Brothers – they were that good.

I realized after I posted it that it is only going to confirm what people are already hearing. I do think it confirms what I think, of course, from watching his mouth. but I could be wrong. Smiling

I hear "it's a lot"...and that makes more sense anyway...doesn't it? It does to me at least, for what that's worth.

I think it helps when you factor in a slight southern accent also.

the love that people SAY you make......it's a lie!

somebody 'splain "it's a lot" in context of the lyrics and maybe I'll hear it differently.

I smell a poll......... Eye-wink KIDDING!!!!!!!!!

So, Wobble, does that mean those two still sound like "lie" to you? cuz I'm still hearing "lot".
Actually, I used to think it was lie the first couple times I heard it AND both options actually make sense to me--I mean, either could fit, as far as I'm concerned. But still see/hear "lot."

Ok Josh, the first vid sounds like "lie", the second sounds like "lot"...and Stirred...your post may have me jumping the fence. I guess I'll have to re-evaluate and make up my mind later....

Another vote for "lie". I'll be sure to watch/listen even more closely the next time I hear it live.

Do you mean when he says "what does he know?" after "disregard your father's words?"

I always hear 'it's a lie.' That seems to fit more with the other things Scott says.

And I just imagined the crowd yelling 'casino' and it made me laugh! What Chilixx said is the only other thing I know he says in that song.

In my opinion this one is "lie" with out a doubt. I remember hearing "its a lie" when i heard it in Cary for the first time.
Another vote for Lie

I hear 'lie' in every video I've seen.

I always heard "lie" as well.

hahaha...casino. that is hilarious. i like that better than what i'm pretty sure he says, which is "what does he know?" as stated above.

voting for 'lie' as well!

Okay, so I guess I'm wrong. crap.

I thought he said, "It's Alive!" but It's a Lie makes more sense. As far as "casino", he actually says "C Note", I think that is what note he is singing there.

boy-o-boy...

Bah hahahaha. You people are funny little critters.

I hear "a lie"

But...uh...don't believe anything I say about lyrics. I'm always wrong.

Therefore, it most be "a lot"

CASINO!!!!!

I've always heard "lie".
Like stirred said: People say you make.

Can I get a high-five?

oh megapav. you should start a topic in the general discussion called "i suck at hearing song lyrics, please help."
Smiling

So...moral of the thread : We all need to start randomly yelling "Casino!" during this song at shows now. Maybe it will crack the band up if they still have time to read this board.

It's kind of a nice thought, Blasto, and perhaps even inevitable now.....but I vote for no on yelling "Casino" at the live shows. That could turn into a many-years-long response at their shows, and it seems like it might get hokey after a while, especially within the context such a beautiful song. Just my 2 cents. No polls needed. Smiling

--
I gave to you my ugly brown coat, you made it pretty when you put it on....

Not that you need another vote, but I have to say "its a lie"

A little side note, was that the boys father in the balcony at the Chicago show? I looked a few times, but couldn't tell for certain. He kept smiling and looked very proud. A look says a thousand words. It made me a little warm and fuzzy inside.

well I've always heard "it's a lot!" oops.

And in my dreams I saw the future

you guys take this stuff way too seriously... Scott and Seth are writing and singing with a specific idea and its all up for interpretation. Enjoy the message you hear . Feel the things they bring to your heart. Live(and that is the best way to experience them) is always up to and in the moment. You know what I mean, its like reading the Bible, scripture means different things to you at different times in your life. That's just my take .. The analysis will go on I'm sure. Just listen, enjoy and feel!!!Their music is so good because it touches so many.
