Hello everybody. I just thought I'd say hi since I was a newbie. I'm a big fan of The Avett Brothers and I have not seen them live but will do so on Sept 25th in Kansas City. I can't wait. What can I expect? I’m sure it will be a great time. I look forward to chatting with you guys.

Expect high energy, loads of fun, and "ad libs" to songs that you may have never heard. It's a blast and will change your whole perspective on their library. To be honest, some songs I felt sort of "meh" about before my first concert actually became some of my favorites. Seeing how they loved singing certain selections helped me see a deeper/different meaning.

Welcome! I highly recommend becoming familiar with as many of their songs as possible (if you're not already) before going to your first show. My first was the best set I've seen to date and I could kick myself for not knowing some of the amazing songs enough to appreciate them as much as I do now. Also, you can probably expect to end up traveling ridiculous distances in the future to get your fix.

Hi!! I echo the sentiments above (especially traveling...) and recommend you check out some of the youtube videos people have posted in various threads. There are some high-quality vids out there. I especially like the ones from last October's Baltimore show.
I don't know about others here, but the vision of my first live Avetts song is seared in my memory. It's awesome and I can't hear that song (Signs, btw,) without being transported back to that moment.
Also, I love your username. That's actually what I came here to say.

Yeah, I used to follow them before the Avetts stole me away. Now all my vacation time goes to seeing those guys!

I did! I mostly posted in Umm. I left when the board kept crashing last May. But at least now I actually do work at work.
Welcome aboard Husker - the brothers play with a passion that you likely won't have seen before. You will also find a batch of new friends at any Avett shows, we have a strong sense of community around these parts. There is a ton of material on You Tube to check out prior to the show which will give you some insight to what will go down. Be prepared to bring some $ as you will likely want to hit the Merch table. See you at the show, did you spring for the VIP tix? They are spendy but will be worth it.
