Poster(s) for N. Myrtle Beach shows??

Poster(s) for N. Myrtle Beach shows??

Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone knows if there will be a print available for the HOB shows at Myrtle Beach. I think I've seen where some multi-night runs had multiple prints for sale. It would be pretty sweet if there was one for 7/24 and a different one for 7/25. If anyone has any info, please enlighten me.....I need to know if I should be a complete nerd and bring some tubes.

Thanks,

Jason

Hey poster_guy, we picked up a print for each night......awesome work!! Loving 'em both! I was freaking out when we arrived Friday b/c of the long line.....I KNEW I was too late and would miss out. And like a complete nerd, I had my tube in hand.....palms sweating 'til I got inside. But I went right to the merch table and there were plenty available. Going to hang the whale print in our blue bathroom. Thanks again for doing these.....and not charging a crazy amount. I would have gladly paid much more for them, but I'm happy I didn't have to go broke to get a copy of them.

J

nice...glad you got one! If anyone is looking to get my Saturday, Id act fast as they are quickly disappearing from my store.

I missed out on Sat. so i just picked one up on the website. Thanks for the great work and i look forward to probably putting in my closet with the rest of my Avett posters. My wife says we have enough Avett related stuff around the house.

my two roommates and i all bought a saturday night poster from the store. we can't wait to get them!

They look awesome in person. I was really admiring it today and I think the whale poster has nudge it's way into my top 5 favett posters.

I just bought mine too. So happy to have another one of your great prints. I have one from every show you were at. Now if only I could have gotten one from the Orange Peel 12/2007...my first show.

I never knew how awesome and beautiful these posters were until I got my hands on one. Well worth the $20 and the headache of keeping up with it during the show! Smiling

Ordered one off your page last night.

Poster_guy, Can you give me an estimate of when to expect the poster? I ordered it on the 27th and I'm leaving on Friday for a week and want to know if i need to tell my neighbor to look out for it.

Thanks

Hey Wyson...i just got back in town from being gone through the MB shows. I am currently catching up on orders...but I expect it to go out early next week...but no later than midweek. Thanks!

Later next week is fine. The later the better for me..Thanks!

Does anyone know where I can gat a poster for this weekend of shows. I know they're sold out at status serigraph. Are there any third party poster sites where they may be sold / traded? Thanks! I'll be sure to get one at the show for the 2010 round at HOB.

I may be willing to part with mine for the Saturday night show (yellow and blue whale), if the price it's right. I've been cashing in on my swag collection of late and times are tight. It's signed by the brothers and I'm kind of hesitant. Send me a PM, make me an offer....but no gurantees.

I'll be a nerd and bring a tube to Friday night's show. GREAT idea! I'm only going to Friday's show but will there be 3 posters available or just the one for that specific date or same poster for the weekend? Super stoked to get a poster this time...couldn't afford the NYE ones and only other time I've seen them is Merlefest so I'm itchin' for some Avett art!

Hey Guys - Just thought i would show you a sneak pic of the upcoming set of three posters for the myrtle beach shows. the small jpeg doesn't really do the detail any justice but it should give you the idea. Hope you like em'

The posters are beautiful but they don’t seem to have any real connection to the band, the venue or the city. I would love to see posters that have something to do with the specific show. Pipe organs and violins are not exactly instruments associated with the band. Lately the images on the posters just seem so random.

Wow. Those are great! I really like them, and I think they have a lot of relevance to the band (I'm pretty sure that's a cello, not a violin, and the middle one reminds me of Julianne in Vain. Actually they all kind of remind me of Scott's art).

I think it is a violin. If it is a cello then that is one giant flower vase and pitcher. I think the art is amazing but I have to agree that I can’t make any connection between the art and the event. For these shows maybe something with a beach or ocean theme, or something in the folk art style that the HOB is drenched in. But I am no artist so what do I know? Ken, give us some insight. What was the inspiration behind these? What am I missing?

Good call, Sunday. I probably should have paid more attention to the relative sizes everything. My bad. Sorry for doubting you, NC4Now!

this is actually a question I've been wanting to ask all of the poster guys. I almost always love the posters, and have bought quite a few (too many!), but I often don't see a connection between the poster art and the band/location. I'd love to know the inspiration for all three of the usual poster guys.
thanks!

hey guys - the inspiration from these actually stems form a coversation i had with scott - he told me about the vanitas ' or the vanities of human life' . its essentially a style or art that was around in the 16th and 17th century in the netherlands. The art uses essentially inanimate objects that are loaded with symbolism to create a still life. If you google the vanitas you will see what i mean. So yeah thats where the idea came from - i find a lot of symbolic references in the avetts music and i thought it would be a nice fit and would also tie in with the album cover. Also it is violin and it's more reflective of the fact that i wanted to show a musical instrument that was around then that is still used today - for example a lute would have looked pretty wierd:)
Hope that answers some questions......
cheers

I totally dig the posters and I'm getting the whole set; great work, Ken. Now I just gotta clear a wall to put them on. Are they $20 each as usual?

thanks for that--I have googled vanitas, after Julianne in Vain was revealed as the album cover--interesting.
it would be great to get a little back story on all the posters that are made--don't know if that will happen, but if you guys are up for it, I'd love to hear it.

Great poster. Do these go fast? I hate holding onto a poster all night. Any chance of snagging one after the show?

Bring a poster tube - makes life easier and sometimes you can coat check the tube for a couple bucks. Getting fired up for the Nashville shows, do we know who is doing the poster for those 2 nights? I'm expecting big things Smiling

Per TAB facebook post:

There will be a VERY limited number of these available at each show and a few uncut for all three nights!

I totally want an uncut version.

Travis also posted a pic of the MB tee:

I think the gf might like it.

*new facebook link, again

I can't see the shirt, but really want to! Another link?

Still can't see it. "The page you requested cannot be displayed right now. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page." Because I'm not friends with Travis?

I dunno if it's legal or not but I posted the shirt pic on my FB and posted the link.

Thanks. That's pretty awesome... I used to get those kind of shirts all the time when I went to the beach! (and will be getting one this time, too...)

mmmmmm...nothin' says the beach (or 1980s boardwalk/flea market style) like the airbrush.....
altho, as a total geek, i'd totally buy one. and wear it. hell, i'd probably get a couple for gifts for the kind folks who watch our pet family when we're out of town, and they'd wear 'em too!

Apparently they'll be red.

*I'm dumb, thought the fb post said "red"....it says "rad". They're not red...at least as far as I know.

Looking for a hookup on these posters. An uncut set would be preferable. I will be at one of the shows in Nashville at the Ryman. Can do a poster swap or I can just cover the cost. Let me know. Cheers.
