SNOW!

SNOW!

So, here in DC and across much of the mid-Atlantic, we're about to get hit with a pretty big snowstorm--they are calling for anywhere from 10-20 inches between now and Sunday morning. we haven't seen more than 2-3 inches at a time, or really either over the course of a whole winter in 5-6 years, at least. And we do NOT handle it well. what a mess. Who else is getting hit and what are your plans? Is it messing up anyone's last mintue Christmas prep?
I have to work, but can take public transportation--I just have to keep an eye on it and leave before they shut it all down. wish me luck that I don't get stranded at work (at home is okay.)

Sleeting here. Ruined my plans of spendig the night with Larry Keel/Acoustic Syndicate in Charotte. Bummer.

It's snowing here and we've had some sleet too. My dad and I just got back in from getting my mom's last present and fishtailed in my Mazda all the way home. Staying with mom and dad tonight as a precaution in case we get the worst overnight. I love the snow, though. I feel so Christmas-y now! Maybe some northerners have lost appreciation of the white stuff, but we don't get it regularly down here.

A little North West of Jenn. I believe they are calling for about a foot here. Tried to buy a pair of snow pants for my son and not a single pair to be found in Frederick. We live in the mountains, so we will not be going anywhere tomorrow! Supposed to start tonight and snow thru Sunday. Plan on cooking and baking (and eating).

Everyone stay safe!

We were supposed to leave today from Athens, Ga to go to Western NY for Christmas...decided to wait til Sunday. I am going to check this topic periodically to get updates on the weather through the Carolinas. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Never trust those weather people.

It has been snowing in Bristol since 3:30, and it's still just coming down. We've got seven inches on our back porch, and it's supposed to go all night! The dogs are absolutely FIRED UP. I've got my parents' dog, and our two, running like puppies every time we even CRACK a door...

We're every bit of snowed in- but I got my bread and milk at the store, so no worries. NO, I'm not kidding. I really did that.

Tomorrow we'll get B out in the snow, it will probably be up to his waist, but whatever~! It's time to sled!

Got 6" here near the Catawba River. 'Tis nice... until tomorrow morning when I have to try to get out of the drive to go to work. Shocked(

I'm in Southern VA, we're expecting at least A FOOT of snow! So far, we're about halfway there Smiling

We've got about 6 inches overnight and probably end up with 12-15 when all is said and done. it's really coming down right now and supposed to keep up all day. Emma, I heard that Roanoke has about 12-14 so far, so I'd imagine you are buried right now.
I decided to go ahead and close the the office. The city is more or less shut down already.
Soulshine, it was a good decision to wait to travel!

Up to about 15 inches here and still coming down.

It's stopped here for a bit - Jenn, my sorority sister is in roanoke and she has upwards of 16 inches, i'm at home - so i'm about an hour away - we have maybe 9 or so, hoping for more, because I enjoy it Smiling

Been waiting all day in New Paltz and nothin.

I'll see you in the morning time.

Nothing here in CT yet but it should be starting soon. Going to a neighborhood gathering tonight (on foot) then home to hunker down. Actually, I'm hoping it misses us entirely........ Smiling

yeah, it hasn't stopped here. I'm OVER it, but that doesn't seem to matter. Smiling
all of the airports are closed (feel bad for everyone trying to make it home for the holidays) and we've got about 14 inches right now.
New England, it's coming for ya. Smiling
Snowpocalypse seems to be the most popular nickname for it here.

I'm so jealous of all of you. It snowed here yesterday afternoon for about 30 mins and then turned into nothing but cold rain. My parents got about 6 or 7 inches just an hour or so west of here - there better still be some on the ground when I go home in a couple days.

Nothing's good because nothing lasts. And all that comes, it comes here to pass.
I would voice my pain, but the change wouldn't last.
All that comes, it comes here to pass.

Sounds like the DC/MD/VA areas are really getting walloped! I'm north of Philly, and so far we've only got about 2 inches. I hope we get more - I love when it snows, and I miss it living out in CA!

Hope you're all warm and cozy and enjoying the snow Smiling

Final total in Bristol (and it's official, 'cause we used a tape measure in the back yard) tonight: just shy of nine inches.

It's so deep that Branch can't walk... he just fell over and laughed, over and over again. The dogs had to jump/run all over the yard... it's been awesome.

Some friends braved the roads and came over to save us from our cabin-fever- and to play with B outside. I'm so glad this happened on a weekend so Parker could be home for all our fun.

FINALLY a snow like the snows I remember as a kid! Woo hoo!!

All that we got here was some cold rain and a little ice in the trees that was melting by 9 am. The kids would have enjoyed some snow. I'm a little relieved it didn't though.

I am envious too...we got nuttin' but cold drear here in Charlotte...missed us by that much...I shall hunker down regardless with my chocolate p-nut butter buckeye balls...nom nom...

oh, I just made buckeye balls last weekend--my favorite!

my balls are here for you pleasure haha

concord got virtually nothing, but closed schools early, which i can't complain about. but it seems like i could throw some ice cubes out onto 73 and theyd shut down every school in the county ha

Our show at the Milestone got cancelled, then it melted before I got up the next day. Blah.

So funny to hear people freak out about a foot or 2 of snow... It hasn't snowed until you drop a yard stick in it and the yard stick disappears!!!! Still, a foot or 2 is a pain in the A$$ when you are not used to it!!!! HOPE EVERYONE HAD FUN IN THE SNOW!!!!!

My mom and I drove up to New England about a week and a half ago to visit family and our trip back down to Knoxville had to get postponed because of the storm, then eventually did have to drive through the snow, not so great. Playing in the snow with my younger family members was fun for sure! I think they were pretty surprised to see a college aged girl be so excited about ten inches of snow!! (we never get more than two here)

--
One with earth and one with God

We got 'round a foot or so. Lost power on Friday, just got it back tonight at 7. It's been a pretty rough week in these parts.

Well, it's Snowmageddon here in DC. We only have 2-3 inches right now, but they are calling for 1.5-2 feet. fantastic. hope the board is active this weekend b/c I'm gonna be BORED. And my roommate isn't around and I won't be able to get anywhere.

Two feet plus and still snowing, y'all. Supposed to snow 'til the evening with possibly 6-8 more inches of accumulation.

--
there's only one thing here worth hoping for

We're at about 15 inches this morning and expecting another 5-8.

I am snowed in at work. Pittsburgh had about 2 feet dropped on them in the past 24hrs. But hey! We all got free food from the tight asses. Smiling

Nary a snowflake here in CT. Feel for you all in the mid/coast area. Stay warm and stay safe!

Dakota is being well taken care of by my lovely girlfriend, Amy. I am quite a lucky guy.

We topped out at about 20 inches, but some people in the area got quite a bit more. I'm OVER it!

Julia and I are cooped up at her folks house in Baltimore, we got just about 30 inches here! Lets hope she catches her flight to australia tomorrow!

tell me about it--my 20 minute metro commute today took about an hour and a half. 10-20 more inches expected tomorrow and this place is still a wreck. Federal government off today and tomorrow, and I'm sure they will be Wed. Schools will prob. never be back in session.
I am feeling defeated.... Sad

Jenn, all the other schools in the county/within a 3 hour radius find out the night before if they're canceled. We don't find out til the morning.

I wish I were getting what you guys are getting. I am waiting for good snowboarding conditions.

Andre, I wish I could give this snow to you, I really do. It's already coming down again and we are in the 7-14 inches range.
The snow is winning and I'm in a terrible mood. Sad

it wouldn't be so bad if the city handled it at ALL.
