I don't have an actual copy of this c.d anymore, but i was able to get a hold of the individual mp3s.
I had it at one point, but i have noo idea where it went.

This album is so sweet. You can really hear the youth in their voices and music. It makes my heart break and swell every time I listen to it.

Their early stuff always puts me in a good mood and reminds me of when I fell in love the Avett Brothers. If anyone would like a copy, I would be happy to burn one for you. I wouldn't charge anything, which is my way of making peace with music karma, if I charged anything I would feel guilty that I was making money off of one of my favorite bands.

Can't help but give this one a 5 star review. It's the EP that turned me on to TAB and it's in constant rotation. I'd say this is my go to cure for the "will this day ever end/is it 5 o'clock yet" blues.

A Great Appetizer
I hadn't heard any songsbut "Kind Of In Love" and "Let Myself Live" until a few days ago when i finally got to listen to the whole thing. It blew my mind! "My Lady and The Mountain" is yet another classic Avett love song of attachment and loyalty, and "Those Green Eyes" tell the story of yet another girl who wronged a Brother. "Feb. 20, 200" is a heartbreaker, exploring the struggles of having a confused heart and mind. This is a great treat to play for company at a picnic or while you sit along and watch the thunderstorms coming (as I did, haha).

A great find if you can track it down. I agree with many of the previous posts that "Let Myself Live" is the gem of the album
My Favorite!
I just got this album not that long ago, and even tho its their first, its new to me! Its by far my favorite right now! I love the way their voices sound, it much more raw! I love everything about it!

It's difficult for me to pinpoint one album as my favorite but this one is waaay up there. The lyrics stick with me all day, always find my foot bouncing to it! Thanks for continuing to amaze. See you in Asheville!
A Great Start
Of course they have come a long way since this album, but one would find that there would be great things to come after hear it. Let Myself Live is still to this day one of my favorites.

I agree with a couple of you that they should re-release this album and 'Country Was'...I would most definitely get them! It's hard to find these CD's of theirs anymore...I've been to CD store's all over the triangle area and can't get 'em

There seems to be a pattern of feedback.
The Avett Brothers should remaster The Avett Bros. EP and re-release it. On iTunes at least. I've heard Kind of In Love and, although it seems outdated now in terms of their career, it really is essential to understanding the Avett Brothers and where they've come from. I realize everybody's saying that, but it's true, and it almost seems wrong not to be have the chance to listen to it. Thus, I hope you guys can unleash your rootiest roots on the ever-growing fanbase if for nothing else than to give us more of your music to listen to. YouTube just doesn't seem to cut it anymore.

A pretty good start.
Have only had the pleasure of hearing this one a few times. But even on their first release, there's not a bad tune in sight. Still, they hadn't found their style yet here. But some good (and a few okay) little tunes here, and signs of the greatness to come. For a first release, this is pretty good.

especially the last line..."Be done with the pain and get on with the love." I think the sound of this EP is very different from what they're doing now, but it's still great. If you can get a copy, do it! I would love to see them re-release this one, too.

Glimpse of Greatness
I find it really difficult to give an Avett Brothers record a low score, but this album is not their greatest work. There are some stand out tracks such as Let Myself Live and Kind of In Love but the rest of the album is just too unpolished, but that's okay since this was their first and they were probably still trying to define their own particular sound and style. Overall I give this one a 3 their later albums are much better.
memories
i love that i can put this cd in and almost immediately start crying. these songs are so raw and played with so much emotion...when i listen to this i think back to when it came out and how much things have changed for the avetts. they've grown so much musically. but putting this in i remember seeing them with about 12 people in the audience at golden gate coffee shop. or the times they played fat city. or when they got "big" and would play pucketts to about 80 people. of all their shows i've been to, none have been remotely bad. i never left feeling let down. and to me, that's what this cd reminds me of.
and i do hope that they re-release all the old stuff sometime.

You have to know the beginning if you're going to understand where something is going. This one is fun and necessary (as they all are,) for anyone looking to know the Avett Brothers.

Yet to Let Myself Live
Again, don't own it, damn it. However, first album and it has one of PGRacine's favorite songs, so there's that. Let Myself Live is another favorite, is it worth saying a song is a favorite? I keep doing it and go to high five someone but no ones around.
