Who are these crazy bearded hippies? That's what I said when The Avett Brothers came out onto the stage to open for John Mayer this past summer. I smirked, I shrugged, I disregarded them. And then I got put in my place after about five seconds. The Avett Brothers are nothing to scoff at. And after successfully removing the foot from my mouth long enough to go "Whoa.", I found myself standing, dancing, and cheering. Even the musically intune Mayer said later in the night, "How about those Avett Brothers? I find myself standing on the side of the stage stealing tricks from them." Since that concert, I have purchased eight of their albums and have never regretted paying for a single one. These guys are amazing artists, lyricists, showmen, and technical musicians. I hate myself for not catching word of these guys until now. Better late than never I suppose. Can't wait to see what they do next.
