Many times I have began to write an explanation as to why I am a fan, but have never quite been able to express it. For some, maybe even many, they are fans simply because of the musicality of The Avett Brothers, or maybe because of the intense and raucous live shows. Of course, they are great reasons and a huge part of why I am a fan, but for me the reason goes far beyond that.

Through their beautiful melodies and heartfelt and honest lyrics, I have been the recipient of comfort when I needed it, real joy even in the midst of deep sadness, peace of mind when I wasn't expecting it, and the wonderful feeling of not being alone in life. These things could not be repaid with a thousand thank yous.
