Savannah concert was much better. The crowd seemed to be classic Atlanta folk. They seemed to be more interested in going to buy beer than listening to the beautiful music. I felt it, my friends felt it, and I think the Avett Brothers felt it. Big concerts will never compare to the days when the Avett Brothers were playing in tiny no-name inns to make a living. The audience makes or breaks a concert, not the musicians.

  • The Avett Brothers and the audience made a clear connection after it became clear: "WE were there because we loved them and their music." They realized it and seemed ten times more lively and willing to play their music for us. The fact that they came out for two encores, I think, says it all. Even though they never played my favorite song, "Kick Drum Heart" they played a variety of the songs. At times it seemed they were trying to test and see how loyal of fans we were.
