July 21, 2008 - The Second Gleam + Cary THIS WEEK!

We've got a big week ahead of us!

On Tuesday, July 22nd, our new EP The Second Gleam will hit stores. The album will be available on CD & vinyl as well as digitally. The vinyl will have 8 songs total (2 bonus) and those bonus tracks will also be available to you for free if you download the album! You will also be able purchase and download the bonus tracks individually.

For those of you who are planning on picking up a copy of the record on vinyl -- check your local record store to see if they are carrying it -- we have a special contest for you! The first TWO people to correctly identify the etching on both sides of the record (and email it here) will win a very limited edition Emotionalism promo item! These items were used in indie record stores across the nation, and feature artwork designed by Scott Avett.

The first winner will receive a thick cardstock circle, 27" in diameter with the Emotionalism logo on both sides. Pictured here.

The second will win a thick cardstock rectangle poster, with a photo of the guys on one side and the Emotionalism bird design on the back. It's 12" x 30" and pictured here.

Please note: YOU MUST BE PRESENT AT THE CARY SHOW TO PICK UP THESE ITEMS! So, if you are not attending the show, unfortunately, we cannot accept your entry.

We will also have a very limited number of these for sale at the Cary show - the circle will be $50 and the rectangle will be $40. We don't have that many, so make sure to get there quick!

In addition to these items, we will have a ton of t-shirts (with a few new designs), special limited-edition Philly and NYC Emotionalism CDs (from the shows in May of '07), patches, new stickers, a variety of signed posters, signed photos by Crackerfarm, western shirts, bandannas, hoodies and a few totes from Red Canary plus all of the albums including The Second Gleam on both vinyl and cd!

If you don't have your tickets yet, click here to get yours. It's getting very close to selling out, so make sure to get them now! We can't wait for this homecoming show. It's been too long, North Carolina.

July 14, 2008 - Somerset, KY this week - Cary only two weeks away!

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us over the past couple of weeks. New York City was particularly crazy - thanks to everyone who came out, despite the last minute venue change. And sorry to those of you who weren't able to get in. We will be back to see you all soon.

This week, we are taking it easy with just one show in Somerset, KY at the Master Musicians Festival on Friday.

After that, we'll be gearing up for our big homecoming show in Cary on the 26th. It will be a very special night with a lot of surprises. We hope to see you there. Click here for tickets!

Thanks,
The Avett Brothers

July 6, 2008 - Update...

To our dearest fans,

Since we first performed as The Avett Brothers, we have been fortunate enough to find and build a genuine and mutual respect with those who care to listen. It is this kind exchange that champions our music, and allows us the forum to continue on our path, with this work, this art. We believe this to be an appropriate time for a brief update, as we would like for you all to know of the most noteworthy of present developments.

We have recently begun working on a new full length album with Rick Rubin. The recording process has been, and will no doubt continue to be, an experience defined by heightened levels of commitment and conviction. It is our distinct pleasure and honor to be in such fine company as we build and bring this most current chapter of songs to fruition.

With this union has come another, as we have just completed and signed an agreement with American/Columbia Records, the label with whom we will proudly release our next record. It is our sincere hope, in regard to this news, that our ongoing relationship with Ramseur Records is understood. There have not been, and will be no hard feelings or abandon-based resentment from either party involved. The Avett and Ramseur camps remain strongly and truthfully connected, both personally and professionally. There has been no change in these matters through this momentous transition.

For all of you who have gone to such great lengths to show your appreciation, we continue in our most sincere efforts to return the sentiment. The music would go nowhere without you. Our hearts and our minds are on the recording of this next album, and we look forward with great anticipation to sharing it with you all. Until then, thank you as always, and we will see you somewhere on that open road...

Sincerely,
The Avett Brothers
