This is a great album. I see it as a step between the raw old days and the more polished Emotionalism.

Maybe I'm biased because it was during their tour for this album that I saw them for the first time, but this is a must have for any new fan. Love every single song!

so great they recorded there, i love it!

This one gave the impression that they had stayed up three days straight to record the whole thing. I dig the album, and especially the little bits of unpolished goodness. It makes you feel like you're in on some of their inside jokes. This was missing in Emotionalism, but its what you sacrifice for a gem like that.

So funny...at the end so listen, toomany great songs to go over...this is a great dance around the house cd.

I can put this album in the car stereo and it doesn't leave for weeks. From start to finish, it's a perfect album.

This album is a perfect way for the Avett Brothers to go from Mignonette to what they are doing now. There are some incredibly beautiful ballads as well as some excellent "get up and dance" songs. I think this is their second best piece of work. To me, it almost gets lost in the shuffle between the greatness that is Mignonette and their recent rise. This album only gets better with time.

For me, this album signifies a huge moment in The Avett Bros music... this album really showed a change in their musical path... you can hear a major difference from the more blugrassier albums like Carolina Jubilee and Country was, than from this album.... its an amazing composition of head bangin' / foot stomping tunes, but still has some great soft moments with Flower from Manhatten....

it's a great album...I'm alittle bias since it's the first one I owned and I almost wore it out. I have so many favority songs on this album and so many songs that I connect with different events in my life -- example matrimony -- wedding.
Anyway -- great album!

I could never pick a favorite album from The Avett Brothers but this one is towards the top. So many great songs on this album! I go though phases where I will listen to one TAB CD over and over and I think its time to put this one back in the player!

love this album, that's all i can say. there are so many classics on this.

A very good album, though it is really different from their other stuff. At times the songs on this album seem to be all over the place, but over all a classic and overall great album.

Such a variety of sounds in this experimental album, but is always true to that distinct Avett style.

God bless him, I just do not like Bob's songs.

this album has such a mixture of styles - it never grows old

This was the first album I listen all the way through of TAB. My first song was Colorshow and I've been hooked ever since. A really good album and it only gets better.

So many different styles that all perfectly represent the Avett Brothers.

Some very special songs on here that are GREAT when performed live (Distraction #74 and Talk On Indolence)

Hands down one of the greatest albums I have ever bought. If I had a bad day one place to turn, if I'm sad one place to turn, if I'm angry one place to turn, and that is to The Avett Brothers. Scotty, Seth, and Bob gracefully show the world how music is made. These guys have actually made one of the greatest albums to grace the face of the planet. If you wish to get lost into a blissfully harmonic impressive musical world than this is the album to purchase and listen to over and over again until it does not play again (which will hopefully not happen). Thanks Guys Keep It Up!

I am astonished by how good the title track is on this album along with left on laura left on lisa. thanks for making great music

I still have so much fun listening to this album. From the very 1st track on its a non-stop ride. I can crank it up and sing along. Some of my favorites include: Talk on Indolence, Colorshow and Gimmeakiss.

Disraction #74, A Lover Like You, Pretend Love, The Lowering, and Famous Flower of Manhattan are my favorites. I love the comedy in this album like "Honeycutt honeycutt honeycutt!" and the talking and laughing during songs and just the fun/relaxed tone it sets. Over all a really good album.

My favorite song to introduce people to the Avetts.

I have an Avett album for every possible occasion, but this is easily my favorite one for driving and singing loudly when no one is listening.

When you have an original album that plays like a greatest hits, you've done something special. With FTG, the Avetts most likely picked up the second collection of fans. Each song has it's own character and sound, in reference to the the Pepper's title it is again a shift in the music and evolution of the band. If this is their Sgt. Pepper, Mignonette is their Rubber Soul and I'm not trying to sell them short with constant Beatle's comparisons, but the growing library of songs and willingness to progress are similar.

huge fan of Talk on Indolence. Eye-wink and every other song on this album... like i said. it's awesome. simple as that!

First song I ever learned on Banjo was Talk on Indolence.. Love this album

Love this album, mostly for it was Avett introduction. Will always hold a place in my heart, for it changed my life the moment I heard it. Love this album.

This album is awesome. Seriously. Awesome. I love the songs and the energy. This is the sound of the Avett Brothers along with the "modern" albums Emotionalism and Mignotte.

some friends of mine play Distraction #74, it blew my mind. This was before I had listened to this album. Then I listened to the album and it was just such a good cd! I know I gush in most of these reviews, but really, they are just solid, especially once cemented with the live experience.

I always have this album in my cd player at all times because I know I can come back to it and really enjoy it no matter how many times I hear it

It doesn't leave the car cd player for weeks. Then I trade it out with Mignonette or Emotionalism or possibly country was. I truly am addicted.

I always listen to this one at least twice before letting get to the next track

This was the first Avett album I purchased after being introduced to the band by a good friend. Talk on Indolence and Distraction #74 just blew me away.

This was the first album I listened to. My son gave it to me and it blew me away. Then Mignonette. What can I say, after those two, and then my first live show, I went out and bought everything I could get my hands on. Chompin at the bit for I & Love & You!
