- I have loved the brother's music for many years now, and hold them closer than any other musicians. But recently I have had my worries. Since Four Thieves Gone, I've felt a loss in their edge. I still love their music, but it has lost something I can't quite point out. The Gleams are wonderful, but I can only take so much sappyness. Emotionalism just didn't resonate for me. The move to warner bros, and Rick Rubin has amplified my concern. Change is a great thing, but I'm nervous the brothers will end up another sad story. New style and new fans are wonderful, but at what costs? I know the Avetts got a family, and they're not Against me!, but its sad to see them move out of ramsuer and NC, and into Rick Rubin. I just want the music to stay true and original. Change is fine, but I want to hear something new from the brothers, not some NY producer. Its not about "selling out", its just 99% of radio pop makes me nauseous, and I don't want see them head down that road, cause "I and Love and The Avetts", and it would hurt to see them go.
