The following two nights at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco were forces to be reckoned with as well. Friday’s show started off with a ferocious 3-song run and then seamlessly detoured into the poignant “Weight of Lies”. Each song that followed seemed part of a perfectly choreographed dance – faster here, slower there and even included a young fan’s request for “Murder in the City”, despite common knowledge that the band doesn’t do requests. Saturday was a big night for fans of the album “Emotionalism”, which had been released exactly two years and one day prior.

The set list included seven of Emotionalism’s fourteen songs - more than one-third of that night’s entire set - plus the rarely-played nugget “Pretty Girl from Matthews”. Saturday’s spectacular encore of “Matrimony” and “Go to Sleep” surely left an imprint on a stage which has seen its fair share of historic performances.
