Haven't you needed the freedom of losing your past? -HGTR

The Carnegie Music Hall will have to be rebuilt after last night's invasion of musical powerhouse The Avett Brothers and the Avett Nation. After an amazing 23 song set including the time travel specials Those Green Eyes and Beside the Yellow Line, the band returned for a four song encore: November Blue, I&L&Y, Murder in the City and Colorshow.
Scott took a classic stage dive in the middle of Colorshow and when, after a bit of surfing that did not interrupt his banjo playing, he was returned to the stage, the crowd lifted up Catfisher and carried him to the end of the song.
As the Brothers left the stage, the house lights came on. But the Nation was not ready to go home. After 12 minutes of "La La"s the band returned to a thunderous ovation to close with what they said was their newest song, Ode to Sunday Rehab.
Other highlights included Seth pulling Lamar onto the stage and handing him a guitar to play along on "All My Mistakes" and a surprise appearance by Mao. Mrs. Z announced the adoption of Dane Honeycutt-Zimmerman is now official. Bob's solos on 40 East and Letter to a Pretty Girl brought roars of delight from the audience.
The only near-downer came as security tried to eject the lovely Allie B. for crying too loud during My Last Song to Jenny. That was not about to happen though as the Nation refused to let the brown shirts gain access to a founding member of Team Avett.
In the afterglow several folk gathered on the lawn of the Carnegie. Someone produced a guitar and an Avett hootenanny sprang forth. Twenty minutes later four shadowy figures emerged from the edges of the circle. Scott, Seth, Bob and Joe joined in on four or five tunes before fading back into the night.
