Greetings Avett family,

Ok, First the bad things:
I am sorry but there were some EXTREMELY rude people at this place. Just because you think you are bigger and badder than everyone else does not mean you get to come in late and sneak up front. DO THE RIGHT THING!!! If you come in late, stay in the back. I get their early so I can get to closer to the stage. I want to enjoy the show just as much as you do, but their was a lot of complaints about people shoving their way to the front just because they think they are someone special. If you have friends their saving a spot for you, GREAT, say so. But if you just want to cheat the system and get closer than a person who waited the extra hour or two when you did not even come for the opening act???? That's a bit silly, childish, and honestly, not what I expect from a Avett crew. Just please be respectful.

Now, allow me to get off of my soap box and on to more important stuff.

The opening act was actually decent this round. Samantha Crane and the Midnight Shivers brought an interesting sound to the hall. Very rock folk. Her song lyrics were not clear as I wanted but it seemed like she really got the crowd warmed up. I know that the group I came with seem to like her. Keep an eye on her, she might make it big one day.

Now, The Avetts: To be completely honest, compared to the last two or three concerts (depends if you count the Video Shoot of I and Love and You), the guys opened up a little flat on energy tonight. They walked out and you could tell that they wanted to go out and give it all they can give. They wanted to hide their tiredness, but you can tell with just a look in their eyes that they were tired/ maybe under the weather. I UNDERSTAND WHY THOUGH!!!! When you do 200 shows in a year, the road seems to get to you and you need breaks. You get tired and worn. I used to travel with a choir on tours that did maybe 10 shows a tour and I could not even imagine doing 200 shows in a year by any means of the imagination. However, Scott, Seth, Bob and Joe, these wonderful guys, I feel, poured out there souls tonight at the Minglewood Hall as we got later in the set. They flat out began to play with there hearts and souls and that, my dear friends, is why I will forever be thankful for them and will be a fan till my heart gives out.

I loved it when one of the brothers (I believe it was Seth) said something to the effect that the crowd and the fans are what keep them going. That we are their fuel to keep grinding along show after show, night after long night. Even when they know they have to travel a few hundred miles overnight, they know that they can pour out their souls to us, the fans. I was just so swept away by that and I just fell in love with the music, which I have learned over the past 6 months since my first show in Birmingham, AL, the very music that seemed to be getting old and dusty, all over again. It just came back to life for me tonight. It really just took everything I knew and made it so much more amazing and I thank the guys, and the fans for that.

Also, one of my friends and traveling companions to the show was a first timer. She has heard the music but has never seen a live show. Even though I thought that the boys energy was low, my friend left that hall tonight not only smitten with the music but almost glowing. She said something to the effect that she has never been to a more passionate and stunning show than that before and she has become more of a fan because of it.

Here are my high points:
- Head Full of Doubt was EPIC
- SALINA is one of their best. ALWAYS A CROWD PLEASER
- The Lowering was Beautiful
- SLIGHT FIGURE OF SPEECH was EPIC as well.
- I and Love and You was Executed perfectly and it never gets old. (And for someone who went to the video shoot and heard it a few hundred times that day, THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING!!!!)
- TRAVELIN' SONG!!!!!!!!! nuff said
- JANUARY WEDDING Wow, ABSOLUTLY STUNNING!!!!
- DREAM APPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- And ending on PERFECT SPACE!?!?!?!?!?! I mean come on, what better way to end a show????

-ENCORE: November Blue stole my heart once again.
(My heart is dancin', to a November tune
And I hope that you hear it, singing songs about you
And I sing songs of sorrow, because you're not around
See, babe I'm gone tomorrow, Baby follow me down:

I cried for the first time at an Avett concert because of these lyrics tonight)

Even better was the fact that I called my friend Lilly, who is a bigger fan than I am (and that is saying something), during the concert so she could hear the band (maybe to cause a little Jealousy Eye-wink ). I let her hear November Blue and she said she got Chill Bumps just hearing it over the phone. LOL. That should tell you how AMAZING they did with this songs. If someone was not effected emotionally or did not get chills from that song, they must of been too drunk to listen. I ain't sayin, but I'm just sayin.

I tell you guys, because of tonight, you will see me and my friend at Avett shows for years to come. A lot of people have come to call me a little obsessed about TAB music. I just can not get enough. A lot of people have asked me why it is so addicting to me. It really is the passion behind the songs that make it worth while AND YOU CAN NOT REALLY GET A SENSE OF THERE PASSION UNTIL YOU SEE THEM LIVE!!!!!!!!! Do me a favor and say a prayer for those guys tonight. They have a long road ahead of them. Pray that God will give them rest tonight. I know I will.

In and because of Him,
Your Avett brother and Servant,
KC

Great show guys. Thanks.

Loved St. Joseph's, and Murder in the City, and the new stuff is great. Come back soon.

Can't wait! and I'd love to hear That's How I Got to Memphis!

I'm bringing a 14 year old that doesn't know she's a fan of you guys yet. If you could sing a song for a pretty little girl named Ashton Thomas, I would be forever grateful.

One of the saddest parts about leaving the Carolinas was wonderning when I would see the Avetts again. I have already begun the grassroots effort, so we will be rolling deep. I cannot wait.

That's how you got to Memphis.
P

Lookin forward to it fellas. Keep doing what your doing. See yall in September.
