Chastain Park is a very nice venue. The only slight negative is that they have a strict volume limit there so that the shows are not as loud as other venues. It is a beautiful park like setting.

I am trying very hard (and rather unsuccessfully) to contain my excitement about this one until I know how doable ticket prices will be for me. I think it's great that my home state is getting so much love in 2010 though

I saw Bob Dylan play there about twenty years ago. We were surprised at how upscale it was. There were people there with fancy catered picnic baskets and candles. I bought some ice cream and spilled some chocolate on my dress. The woman next to us soaked a cloth napkin with Perrier for me to clean up with!
Does it double post every time you don't get the CAPTCHA right?
This show would have to be the week that I've booked a family vacation in VA Beach, wouldn't it?

Looking very forward to this... I always have a lot of family and friends in town for Labor Day. I am sure some of them will extend their visits!
Ah finally! A show close(ish) by. I've never been to Chastain Park, but I've heard nothing but good things. I'm excited for this one!

This is gonna be an amazing show! One of the best venues i've been to and for some shows they actually allow you to bring in your own coolers with you!
Ahhhhhh, awesome. But I don't have money. Does anybody know about how much tickets would be? And if I don't get presale tickets, will they still be good seats? The place looks pretty huge...
If I had to guess tickets for this venue are usually a little more expensive than usual but well worth it. Everytime i've been there I have sat towards the back or even on the lawn and still could hear well. In my opinion there isn't really a bad seat in the house.
The amphitheater has a capacity of around 6900. Buying tickets for shows there can be tricky as many of the best seats are held for people that buy them for the season. Sometimes these people do not use the seats and then they are sold a week or two before the show. I don’t know if this will be the case for the Avett’s show but it has been the case with every other show I have checked out in the past. It can be VERY difficult to get seats down front at Chastain.

I'm scared I won't get my pre-sale email. I signed up a long time ago but have never received an email. The site says enter their email into your address book to make sure you get emails, but WHAT IS the email address to enter? Need help quickly! Yes, Chastain is a very cool venue.

I just wet my pants (almost). Did they announce this somewhere?!?! I I haven't seen anything about it.
Tricky is a good word for seating at Chastain. I have been to probably 20 shows at Chastain but will give the disclaimer that it has been a couple of years since I have been. Normally, there are large tables in front of the stage. These tickets are usually held by corporate sponsors, large donors, etc. These are not easy to come by, nor would I recommend buying them even if you get a chance. It is usually split about 50/50 between people that actually know who the performer is and people that are there for something to do and because they paid for the seats.
The next level is the box seats. These are normal stadium type seats behind the large table area. For those of you that don't care anything about having a table and doing the picnic thing, this is where you probably want to be. I am guessing this is where the presale tickets might be.
The next level are seats sold in groups of six at tables already set up by the venue. These are often season ticket holders but you will be able to find a few of these on ticketmaster when tickets first go on sale. The catch is, they have to be bought in groups of six (or it used to be that way).
The next level are terrace seats with lots of leg room. You can bring a small table to set up in this area. The tradition is everyone brings a candle or two and at night it makes for quite a scene both for the performer and the crowd. Having been to my share of Avett shows big and small this is where I will be sitting. I would encourage those of you that are big on being right up front to maybe take a night off from that. If you have a significant other (or if you don't), go buy a couple of bottles of wine, take a small table and a couple of candles and make this a unique Avett experience. This is a unique venue and I recommend enjoying it for what it is.
There is also a small lawn in the back. It is fine as well, but quite a bit back from the stage.
With all of that said, they do have shows from time to time where they have seats in front of the stage where the large tables normally sit. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents for those of you not familiar with the venue. This is not your typical amphitheater (a good thing).
Thank you so much, NorthEndZone, that's a big help! I was wondering about seating and the whole six person table thing. My mom was pretty excited when I told her they were playing Chastain. She's been to a few shows there (although it's been a few decades) and said the whole bring a table, have a picnic thing is really, really cool. Sounds like we'll be going for the terrace seats unless it happens to be a no table set-up.

I would expect this show to be set up in what they call their “rock’ format. With that set up there are no tables or carry-ins. Instead of tables in the pit, there are rows of chairs. In this set up they do not allow people to bring in the tables, candles & picnic baskets. I don’t want to bring you down but if I were to bet, that’s the way I believe it will go down. Lord knows I have been wrong before.

I agree with David, I think it will be the "rock" setup.
I got my presale email this morning, however there is no link to the Chastain show. Am I missing something?
I do not see a link to the Chastain show.

I have rules. Never eat or drink in underwear or pajamas/Scott Avett
That link should be for all the presale shows. I have no idea why Chastain Park is not showing up.

so no one has any idea why the atlanta show isn't showing up?
Hopefully they'll get chastain up before 12..
I sent an email to Brice at Artist Arena, but who knows if the date will show up on the pre-sale website. I love that the pre-sale hasn't even started and it's already a mess.

Maybe they should take more time to make sure it will be done right and relatively flawless...we don't have to have a presale 4 months before the show. Just my 2 cents. I hate how early these things are. I don't hardly know what I'm doing next week, much less in September.

sure. wow, Sat. at HOB and Atlanta went fast.

Wow. This presale stuff is ridic. I got nothing. Anyone else?
I dunno... I'm not in charge of presale this time around, my friend is, sooo I hope he got something! Although ticket prices were much more reasonable than I expected.
I'm on my lunch break with very limited time to use this computer (and am getting plenty of judgmental looks for doing non-work-related stuff here), but I guess I should have expected this would happen.
Funny enough, I almost just bought Fri night tix for HOB Myrtyle as a consolation prize for not getting ATL tix, but stopped myself.
They're GA tix, I guess I'd save fees by buying those now, but....aw, forget it. I'd rather do what Sunday was talking about (not that those tix won't go fast, too)....we'll see what happens when normal tix go on sale. When's that again?
Hope some of you, at least, scored tix that interested you.
I got right in, and the first tickets it offered me were rear terrace row EE. I threw those back and tried a couple more times, but never got offered anything too spectacular. I'll just try my luck on the general sale and hope I don't end up kicking myself.

I checked yesterday, but there was nothing listed on Chastain's website about this show. They've updated it now though...and Sunday...YOU WERE RIGHT (it's always nice to hear that, isn't it?)
"This show is OUT OF SERIES. Reserved Seating only. No tables, coolers or carry-ins."
http://www.classicchastain.com/e88-The-Avett-Brothers-------------------(Out-of-Series/Row-on-Row)-about.php
That's too bad, because, the tables/picnic/candles idea really sounded nice, especially with the way most shows are now, this would have made it a different type of atmosphere, and I would have enjoyed that.
I guess I'll have to see if anyone else I'm interested in is coming to Chastain this summer to have that sort of experience.
So far (http://www.classicchastain.com/events/), that doesn't seem to be the case.
Thank God the boys are coming to Savannah next month!
I got 3 for Terrace center, Row L, which looks like the front row of that section! Soooo excited.

Free is not your right to choose, It's answering what's asked of you, To give the love you find until it's gone.
We got four tickets for right pit, row H. I'm not sure where that is though on the map. I'm guessing where Terrace is?
We went with the highest price level ($35) and got Right Terrace Row E Seats 66&68. I kept browsing after my purchase and at that price I kept getting Right Terrace Rows D, H, Center Terrace Row L. So some decent seats were offered.
Remember to keep refreshing. Just because it says PreSale Sold out doesn't mean it actually is. Tickets will get thrown back into the pool. Looks like some are still available as of 12:22.
I'd love to do that, but I have to go back to work
Good luck to the rest of y'all, glad to hear some ppl got good seats.
I didn't get any closer than row D in the terrace. A friend got row E in the pit.

Messaged you, gospelknight.
So... I forgot I needed 3 tickets, and screwed up, so if anyone is interested, I have some extras. A single, right terrace row G, and then 2 together center terrace row L.
Went back and got 3 together right terrace, row E. Wow congrats to the people that got Pit tickets, you are very lucky!

Is the "Pit" what they refer to on their seating chart as the Plaza Seats?
I'm not sure, slim, I was wondering/hoping the same thing.
Dang, I was trying for Box Seats but none ever came up. Crappo.

"I wonder which brother is better, which one our parents love the most...he said I love you and I'm proud of you both in so many different ways."
I went cheap and got the seats towards the back. But I am looking for closer seats. If anyone can hook me up, That would be great. I have 2 Rear terrace Row HH. If you have a closer set you do not need, if the price is right, I will buy them and if I can sell the HH tickets. Private Message me if you want to talk about it.

@themissingavett: Nice. From this pic (http://www.acentech.com/projectimages/h_chastain_park_1.jpg) looks like box 1 is pretty darn close to the stage.
