So, now that we are drawing closer and closer to the show, I have had a lot of people that initially planned on staying over say that they have made other arrangements, or will not be attending the show at all.
Just so I have a clear headcount, can everyone that plans on staying over please post here so that I have a good idea of how many I will be accommodating? We have plenty of room, and everyone is welcome!
Feel free to note if you will just be stopping by for the lantern fest/other festivities, or if you actually plan on staying over. I hope to see and meet as many of you as possible!

I, too, am attending the lantern fest/after party, but not sleeping there. yay--can't wait! (of course, depending on how things go, you never know.)

I'll be resting my head in one of A-ville's nice hotels, but am going to try my best to be there for the lantern fest. Pretty excited!

I'm going to give this thread a few more days before I send out the PM with address, etc. No one needs to bring anything, but the more paper lanterns, the better! I'm going to try and have a little of Asheville's finest beers on hand, but if you want to drink more than a couple of beers, I'd advise towards bringing your own alcohol, Oh, and blankets. Bring lots of blankets. It could get cold, ladies and gentlemen.
It looks like there is a small enough amount of people actually sleeping over to where there will be plenty of beds/couches for all, but if you have an air mattress to bring, it may not hurt. Just in case.
Heids. I feel your freakin' pain.
My hubby is a hard, hard worker and never gets a day off unless he asks for it a year in advance. He just turned in his requests for NEXT year, though. So, ummmm, put me on the guest list for NYE (Bringing-in) 2011. Cool?

I love my enablers...but, can't do it. We're coming back from Cackalack on the 29th with friend in tow to ring in the New Year in NYC. Which means it'll be me reigning in two southern boys at a dive bar in Brooklyn on NYE. I'm actually totally ok with that but definitely wish I was coming to experience this lantern party! Take lots of pics!

Lanterns will be after the show, although I'm sure people will be stopping by before lining up, as well. Everyone is more than welcome to park at my place and save a few bucks, it's less than a mile walk to the Civic Center from my house, and it's just a straight shot up my street.
i'm part of the 3 that angi has already claimed, super excited to be there! blasto, pm me about beers in the area if you will. my husband is a total snob, and i'd love to be able to bring some stuff that might not be in the area.
angi and i were also tossing around the idea of having a new years hat contest. judging to be completed after the show at blasto's. winner will receive a fabulous hand painted avett prize! any interest? sorry for the sidetrack.
as far as the lantern thing, is there a plan as far as bringing them/ordering them? I know walstib was thinking of ordering some, but if she (or anyone else) does, I guess people can just buy one for that stash? Should probably get a plan together before it's too late to order them so they get there in time. Marysstikal found a place that has them and we ordered some, so I guess people can order some to bring, as well.

Hey Blasto, I was thinking about this last night and Eli's parents would probably love to come to the lantern party after the show if that's ok - I really want them to meet some of our Avett friends (they are the ones that told Eli about the Avetts after they saw them play in a church in Nashville, NC in 2005). Plus, they're hippies from way back, so lanterns representing worries being released on New Year's Eve? Uh, yeah. Right up their alley. Plus, giving them a few lanterns will make great stocking stuffers when we're there for Christmas.
They'll be in town for the show, so when you send out your PMs, could you send me the info?

Sounds great...We will plan on coming by. This will be my third show- New Years last year in Charlotte and Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte 08/08/09. I don't think my wife gets it yet but being with other Avett fans might bring her around. Thanks

So, I was about to send out PM's, but I'm not really sure who needs my address. So how about if you need it for directions/a place to send lanterns, you just PM me.
As far as the itinerary, I don't plan on lining up too awful early, so if anyone wants to meet at my place and park/drink a warm up beer or two before lining up, feel free! I figure after the show it will be very easy to direct everyone to my place. Unless it's snowing or something, I plan on walking, myself.
Additionally, anyone on here who is friends with me on Facebook just got an invite to the event, which has my address listed there. So no need for a PM if we're friends on FB.
Also have a hotel, but me and the woman might stop by for the post show festivities - sounds like a great time.

Glad to have you aboard! I will keep you in mind for a couch if someone drops out. We have 2 love seats up in the sun room, but it's not well insulated or heated in there, and that could get mighty cold! There are a couple of Lay-z-boys in the living room that might be more comfortable than the floor if you don't have an air mattress though.
Sorry that I'm not able to fully accommodate everyone that wants to stay over, but all that are willing to floor crash are welcome!
