Akron 6/19
Wow. The boys sure put on a great show. China & I couldn't have asked for better seats. The Venue was beautiful. It was the first time hearing Samantha Craine...very nice voice. Then the boys take the stage...unfortunately they were playing before the curtain came up so we were unable to break into a Happy Birthday for Scott. They played several of their soon to be released (fingers crossed) songs but completely blew me away by busting out Gift for Melody Anne>Complainte D'Vn Matelot Mourant. WOW. WOW. WOW. Put a huge smile on my face that has yet to completely fade. What a great time...I just can't believe that they do for this for us night after night!

I so enjoyed the show in Akron. Beautiful venue, and beautiful music! Not only did I get to take a friend who had never seen them before, but we also had the pleasure of getting to me the guys after the show. I've read how nice everyone said they were, but was still stunned by their gratious personalities and willingness to spend so much time chatting with their fans... I didn't think I could think more of them than I already did, but now I do! And I agree about Samantha Crain, great way to start the evening!
Not only was this an incredible setlist but the sound in Akron was so clean! After catching kind of a rough night in Rochester the week before, this was a really special night. The boys were in fine form and dug deep for some older classics. I really think the playing and mixing gets better in the theatre gigs, or maybe it's just the acoustics. The smaller gigs used to be my favorite because of the energy on the floor but I'll take the better sound any day. I was disappointed with the people sitting down at the left side of the house. Finally, during At the Beach, some real fans rushed to stage left and got that side of the house off it's ass and moving. How can you sit down when the Boys hit their groove?
I had my son (10) with me for his first show and we were really moved by the perfect "Murder". I had my sister there too, always fun to hear "At the Beach" with her. Also brought two rookies who were suitably blown away.
Can't wait until July 30th in Buffalo!

this was my first Avett show, but I've been a fan for a couple of years. Very special show. I took my two girls who are 6 and 8. They were the ones with the glowsticks. When Swept Away started, I couldn't take being so far away ( I was only in row L but that was too far away)...so I grabbed the girls and we rushed the stage. The girls absolutely danced their heads off for the rest of the show. then they helped pound the stage for an encore. To top it off, Scott came and knealt down to shake my girls' hands after the show. They were over the moon crazy in love. What a great show guys...can't wait to rush the stage in Detroit on the 2nd!!!!
stumbled upon this while looking for the review from the blogger that was sitting behind me, I have no idea if this is his or not.. but still neat !

bender, unfortunately I was one of those pathetic people sitting on the left and let me tell you it was murder! The guys in front of us were sitting (until it was time for more beer) and the people behind us were sitting so we didn't want to spoil their show. The levee broke with At the Beach. I could not be content with chair dancing any longer. I suppose the one good thing about being seated for so long was that Trevor was able to rest his elbows on his knees and get some pretty steady video. It's too bad the beer guys made so many trips during Melody Anne: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT9HSmN0DKc
Don't know if this has been posted yet but I found this and wanted to share it.
