1. Jack White has been added as a presenter at the AMAs. I have always thought a collaboration between Jack and The Avett Brothers would be interesting.

2. Daryl Hall and John Oates are also presenting Laughing out loud

edit: shoot, read it too fast. Just John Oates is presenting. still....

Replies for this Board Topic

I don't suppose they broadcast this do they? I have little doubt that it will be exponentially more entertaining than any of the crap awards shows that they usually put on TV.

"I have always thought a collaboration between Jack and The Avett Brothers would be interesting."

Agreed. But I doubt it will happen.

To be clear, I was talking about perhaps a connection at the AMAs that could lead to a future collaboration. And you may already have understood that. Just clarifying for myself, really

I am with you, stirred.
Jack and the guys would be stimulating to say the least. Smiling

personally i love jack white's music but he is so full of himself i couldn't really see the avett brothers working with him.

Katminelli,
Unfortunately, I don't believe they broadcast the awards ceremony on TV, but on their website they say it is broadcast on Sirius/XM radio.

NPR/Folk Alley will also be webcasting the whole show starting at 6:30 CT: http://www.musicrow.com/2010/09/npr-to-broadcast-ama-award-show/

And they're archiving it for those of us that can't tune in live, yay!

Lots of links to coverage here, but looks like it's all audio:

so i work right beside the ryman and during lunch i took a walk around it a couple of times. then i saw cracker getting on the bus, asked him if he could take a magazine in for me and have it signed. Long story short he came back with scott, bob, and jacobs autograph. also got to talk to jacob. really nice guy.

I'm calling HFOD--what's everyone think?

that or Laundry room.

no go on song of the year Sad

Sad bummer. I think they have a really good shot at the other award though!

Academy awards trump everything. Not such a bummer. I think it was inevitable. Fingers crossed for later, though.
It is odd here. The NFL is on TV here, with 'Americana' in the background. God Bless America. And Go New Orleans And Avetts.

oooooh... a special surprise after the webcast ends. stab me in the heart.

Super all-star jam with unannounced special guests, perhaps?!

Carolina Chocolate Drops. Good audio performance.
And Robert Plant with his decidedly non-American (Americana) accent.
How nice.

Woowhoooo!

Presenting right now! everyone got a line but Joe... sound nervous!

YES!!

this might get my nonavett friends to realize I'm only slightly insane

Archived audio and some pictures are up here (pics include CCD but no TAB): http://www.folkalley.com/misc/americana

ETA: They present the the New and Emerging Artist award starting at 35:46 in Part 2, win starting at 47:06 in Part 2 ("I'm gonna be so smug and so wasted"), and perform I and Love and You at 20:13 in Part 3 Smiling

Ah thank you lovelikethemovies! I somehow managed to miss 10 minutes of the awards that just happened to be during the time that they won. I completely missed their speech!

so awesome for these guys - just another well deserved accolade for the shelf....

here's the whole show - http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=129538459&ps=cprs

ILU is performed at around - 2:27:00
their nomination / acceptance for the Group of the Year is at 1:49:00

I bow in admiration to NPR music radio. I listened to a replay of the broadcast of the awards show today (I missed bits of it last night) and also listened to the entire Robert Plant album.
I say they can do no wrong. The sound is good. The access is easy. And the music choices are wonderful.

Some pictures here (wish we had video!): 45-48 and 66-68

lovelikethemovies, did you forget a link? Eye-wink

Haha oops, what a tease Smiling
