Amping a Banjo

I know this sounds kinda stupid, but I have no idea about banjo amplification. Should I go with a pickup? A portable mic... anything?
If anybody has suggestions, I would love to hear them. Thanks!

i use a transducer microphone pickup that i got @ my local music store for $20 - adhesive to the back of the resonator, comes with a 1/8 chord and 1/4 converter plug. works more than fine for me.
