WOW! happy new Year! Thanks for the list- looks like it was a lot of fun. can't wait for the videos. "Cupid"- cool, and what's the new song?
Thanks for posting. Hope you had a great time.
Avid - wasn't there tonight, it was all courtesy of Sirius/XM radio online, and you can catch it all again tomorrow
The new song was great, sounds pretty polished for the most part which is promising in terms of new material and a release (I hope..*edit* pure speculation).
@emmalou what time tomorrow?
I believe it's at 2pm EST.
I just realized. That makes 3 nights in a row with no laundry room.
They played Laundry Room....Last song of the encore. First song was with their Dad...not sure of the name.
Encore
Walking into Jerusalem
Laundry Room!!
Great f***ing show. Crowd was way more into it than last night. (OMG People in the balcony were standing up!). Scott's voice was still on the fritz. Happy New Year everybody.
I believe the old hymn that the boys sang with Jim was called "I Want to Be Ready", and then they played an epic Laundry Room. After the encore i thought they were gonna do a second encore but sadly the show had to end. Tonight was truly a gem.
Jessica Mayfield joined them on stage and the did For Today!
Oh man, this was a fantastic way to start the new year! And what a setlist--several songs on there that I hadn't heard live before tonight.
ktpthomas--I thought they might do a second encore, too. My least favorite moment of any show is when the house lights come up at the end.
Great show, waaaaaay better than last night. I've got a bunch of videos to post tonight.
Thanks Emma! Will try for the rebroadcast. Can't WAIT for the Vids! Sounds like an amazing show. Love it when they do new stuff. Happy New year all!!
One of the best set lists I've had the pleasure to wittiness, and the crowd was all in. I'm still feeling a bit buzzed by the energy in the place. PGfrom Annapolis/For Today with Jessica was amazing. Here's a little detail from the bleachers some may have missed. During For Today Jessica looked pretty nervous so Scott, who was sharing her Mic, put is left hand on her shoulder and held it there for a while. What a moment in a sea of moments. Jim on stage, Blue Ridge Mountain Blues at midnight, Cupid, Nothing Short Of Thankful, The Fall, Cedar Lane, Wanted Man, all capped of with Laundry Room... amazing!
so beautiful! such a great set list! I am listening to it for the second time right now
I loved the new song- totally had an old school feel to it
Wonderful, wonderful show!! I loved all the energy in the room, and the setlist kept me with a huge smile on my face the whole time. I was wondering if the new song was new or a cover, and I thought it was amazing. As always, Scott gave it his all even though he was sick and it was their third show in a row, and it was so fun to see the Mayfields and Bonnie and Jim join them for different songs. All in all, another awesome show, and totally worth the trip from CA to be there!
Thanks for the videos, CbusTrev! Happy new year, everyone
Had the most wonderful time with the girl. I guessed to her on the ride down that Bonnie and/or Jim might make an appearance. What a joy to be right! In between the new songs, covers, interludes, guests, all the good stuff, couldn't have asked for a better night..
Bonnie, Mr. Jim AND Ballad (which I have waited 2 YEARS to see live!). It was magical.
I was just thinking about last year's NYE run, and how the setlists between the three nights were pretty similar and consisted of a lot of I&L&U songs, which threw some people (including me) for a loop.
What a treat this year, to have two setlists that incorporated older songs and that only repeated a few songs between the two nights. I heard 4 or 5 songs this year that I've been waiting and waiting to hear live (In the Curve and Traveling Song?!). Thank you, Avetts.
Agreed, beatles_gal, we noted after the 31st show that there were only 3 repeats.
I put up a good video of a good bit of the set from NYE on youtube -> http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=D096B57ECDFEFB3E
Loved both shows and even with a sore throat Scott & the band killed.
Hope someone gets the XM broadcast posted somewhere soon! Can't wait to hear it all again...
this was my ninth time seeing them & was without a doubt the best set i've gotten the pleasure of seeing yet. loved it when jessica came out with them to do for today...overall an absolutely epic night.
Wow what a setlist! I had an awesome time in Colorado for New Years but I think I would have enjoyed two Avett concerts more, and anyone who scored tickets for Cat's Cradle good for you! I'm about to watch as many New Year's videos as I can find but if there are any that have not been please, please post them!
pixelnated your videos have made the Avett hangover easier to come down from, thanks so much.
I second the call for the Sirius recording, would love to relive it repeatedly for a few months
SO thankful I was able to experience this show. The Jim Avett and Jessica Lea Mayfield surprises made it all the better, I wouldn't want to start off the year any other way!
They rocked it out yet once again!
was kdh definitely the last song before the break? i was listening at work so was rather busy and distracted, but i thought they played another song before i noticed the house music was on.
Yeah KDH was it, but it went on a while.
emmalou, just noticed the topic title is 12/31/2011
Yeah, they did KDH, and Scott stage dived, and then wandered off, Seth warned people not to go anywhere, as if they would, and Bob stayed with Jacob and they just kinda jammed for a few minutes before they left too.
Amazing couple of nights! Particularly grateful for touching new song, Left on..., & In The Curve. Would have died & gone to heaven if I'd been at Cat's Cradle for Bella Donna & Sanguine. I'm digging Bob's rock out (and, it goes without saying, Seth's dancing) @ the end of KDH these days. Thanks boys!
@lovelikethemovies Way to bring the West Coast love! I came from Berkeley as well & would have loved to meet another CA fan. Hopefully next time...
LindaM - thanks for that
Can't believe noone else noticed.
Amazing weekend for sure ! We recharged a touch at a cabin in Pisgah ! I would rather be down south still, but alas must return, back in PA and its a TON colder !
Are there any videos of KDH from 12/31? I can only find 12/30.
Hear ya go, wild-flower http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nE0Qgqs0Pg
I took a lot of photos at this show, if anyone would like to check them out

Wanted man was insane! Cant believe how awesome the setlist was
Finally got around to watching videos from NYE, and yours are fantastic, pixelnated! Love rewatching the show from another perspective, thanks for posting!
