LOL. hmm now i'm wondering if she means... fans... or "DATING THE AVETTS" website. LOL! i'm sure that site would be a hit with MANY of the fans here.

I was thinking a while back that an escort service would be nice.

I never said anything because I worried about what people would think of me.

"..It’s not where I am…it’s who I’m with.."

you guys just want to marry another avett fan so you can invite them to play your wedding. Smiling

i mean like a dating service for people who like the avett brothers. that is someone i would get along best with.

lol.. i knew what you meant... but we knew sooner or later it would get to the "i wanna date an Avett!" topic. LOL.

--
"you're the words... in a song.. that Hoon sang to me...."

haha Caitlyn I get what you meant. Good idea. I like marysstikal's idea too, but I'm not sure it would work. This is because I have actually thought this through, even though I'm currently single. Scenario: Me, in very sweaty wedding dress, dancing and screaming and red-faced with musical bliss. Future (nameless, faceless) hubby, wondering if it's not too late to take back those vows.

I would love an Avett Dating site! Haha.

Greybird - I feel the exact same way, I will be the one, dancing ridiculously to Avett songs at my wedding. And I can't wait.

"i mean like a dating service for people who like the avett brothers. that is someone i would get along best with"

i don't know if they would be someone you got along with the best with.....i do know that if your current GF is not on board it can completely suck the life right out of you, and so goes the relationship. in fact, the partner who is not the Avett fanatic already sees this board AS a dating website - so the point/topic might well be moot.... um, i'm talking about a friend btw, not me, rather someone i know from the Niagra Falls area code.......

I know the month of mAyVETT sparked quite a few friendships, and maybe even more. Lots of shows, lots of love to be found out there.

So...has any summer lovin' developed over this last run?

And Charlotte alone, man. A crowd full of 6000 Avett fans, lots of time waiting for the show to start, tons of giddiness, a little bit of alcohol, and all that love in the room has got to lead to something for someone . . . I need stories!
Spill 'em.

Oh Angi - how I wish. I think the only story of love I have to offer was when the avetts came out and started with "hold on a minute, it ain't time to leeaaaveeee". There's my love story Smiling

"Hell has no fury like a woman; happy, scorned, or otherwise"

Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has thought of this! I think it's a fine idea, though something tells me we'd run through the pool of available singles rather quickly.

My former love and I built our entire love story from The Avetts - from the night we fell in love on the way to a show, to dreaming about dancing to TAB songs at our wedding. Just before she left, she said "You know, I really don't like The Avetts as much as you do." (I guess maybe it was just my love story.)

It would be nice to never hear those words again.

Here's to 'tabHARMONY.com'!

angi, you just like the gossip...

~~~Roll Tide!~~~
red butte was full of love last night...wished i wasn't so inebriated and spaced getting the contact info of all the beautiful girls that i met...particularly the girl in the purple tights...where are you???? sorry for not getting your info...you were absolutely beautiful and your memory will haunt me everytime i listen to TAB.
hmm, so that means you were too spaced to get the setlist, too?
hey girl in the purple tights, how about you? did you keep the setlist???
Laughing out loud
I think that a site for dating other TAB fans and a site for dating, or hanging out, with the band would both be amazing
Burt,
Glad you had a great time at the show.
Hope you find Miss Purple Tights. This is the logical place to look for her. Whereas, if you are looking for a setlist you might look under setlists.
I enjoyed your candor....oh, and your performance in Smokey and the Bandit too!
i like gossip too.
--
Will you forget when we have paid our debts,
who did we borrow from, who did borrow from?
woah, hey...it was just a joke! there's all kind of silliness in this thread, i was just joking about the setlist! we were being silly about it in the setlists thread too, and i spread it over this way. sorry if it came off un-joke-like.
yeah sorry i didn't get that setlist and yes you are all being ultra silly without any regard to my inability to focus on anything but the gal in the purple tights with her olive skin, incredible smile, and life giving eyes...and how we shared the best music in the world while while sneaking glances and smiles at each other. she was sitting nearby and came over and gave me a brownie..we chatted for a minute and then ran into each other later, she called my name and we had a 2 minute heart to heart...unfortunately i didn't get her name or anything...probably better that way though...it leaves the night even more mysterious and magical. and to my dear annapolisann thank you for the compliment...what did you think about deliverence? i killed it in that movie, huh.
"Just before she left, she said "You know, I really don't like The Avetts as much as you do." (I guess maybe it was just my love story.)"
OUCH! Sorry, kinglet, that's harsh!!
--
I wanna have friends that I can trust,
That love me for the man I’ve become, not the man that I was.
That IS harsh, but, on the other hand...maybe it softened the blow a bit? Who wants to be with someone who just Pretend Loves the Avetts?
"Not I," said the fly.
I would date any of the Avetts. And almost any Avett fan. And I would not date someone who did not like the Avetts. In fact, I am pretty sure that's why my last relationship ended. He kept turning my music down. So who is setting up the Avett Matchmaking site? Sure, after a few weeks it might become a little weird when we have exhausted all of Avett dating options (i.e. each other), but Where can I sign up?
It would get kind of incestuous after a while, wouldn't it? I mean, we're talking about a limited sample of people here. Unless we wanted to start running those banner ads that they have on other websites "Find Hot Single Avett Fans In Your Area" with a picture of a scantily clad woman who probably doesn't even have a computer, let alone a membership on an internet dating website.
I'm out of the running, but I love setting people up - with jobs, dates, new bands, etc.
--
Will you forget when we have paid our debts,
who did we borrow from, who did borrow from?
i agree w/ predictability...where do i sign up?
Must Love Avetts... that would be the first item in the criteria list...
oh for the love....I just absolutely died with laughter at the thought of it.
How much of our addiction to we really want to publicize? haha.
So, if someone was internet website creation crafty....how should the "want ad" be structured, eh?
What are the "need to knows"? like.....
-Favorite Avett song:
-Favorite Avett:
-Are you a REAL fan and if so, how many shows have you seen?
-Favorite show:
-Hopes and Dreams involving Avett music:
hahaha....yeah, silliness. We should just start saying things like "all available singles meet at the left side of the bar at any Avett show that has a bar" or something fun and random that requires some real life courage.
would be nice to meet a boy that loved the idea of drivin several hours to a show though. there is something to be said about the music the Avett Brothers play....it gets ya riled up for sure!
"OUCH! Sorry, kinglet, that's harsh!!"
Well, her loss, I'm saving up $20K to hire the brothers for my wedding!
I say Facebook page!
Burt, Burt, Burt, what were you thinking?!? Ahh, I feel your pain man.
AndreaM...You're a genius re: "We should just start saying things like "all available singles meet at the left side of the bar at any Avett show that has a bar" or something fun and random that requires some real life courage."
Kinglet...If the Brothers took time out of their life to take part in your life, betcha $20K they wouldn't charge you a dime.
"betcha $20K they wouldn't charge you a dime"
Well, hope springs eternal!
~an electric current moves us around, we sank to our knees to worship the sound~
if only. i took my current gf to an avett concert on like our 2nd date and low and behold when the next concert came around the next year, i found out that she actually hated them. that pushed any marriage plans back approx 2 years!!!!
Three years ago I inquired about the Avetts playing at a wedding and it was around $20k then.
--
"The words you wish your head didn't say are the ones their heart will hold onto the longest." -- Bill Mallonee
dang! $20K? That's more than my college education is costing.
Kinglet: let's have our wedding reception together and we can split the cost. Haha, if only..
I actually have a friend who's cousins went to high school with the Avetts. They played her cousins wedding which was in my friend's back yard. Can you even imagine that?
My girlfriend and I have been together for 3 years, when we first met I introduced her to the Avetts and it's been love for each other and the boys since. We've both been good Avett citizens, talking them up to all of our friends and taking friends to shows as much as possible.
We've been to 10 shows together. Needless to say there is a special place in our lives for the Avetts.
Hopefully she doesn't one day break up with me and say something mean about the Avetts. Kinglet you scared me.
If I could have them play 'Swept Away', and that's it at, my wedding, I would certainly die a happy man.
Lets start this damn site so we have Avett fan double-trible-quadruple dates!
--
Carolina one day I'll, someday I'll come home.
This cracked me up ............only because I've had the same thought many times.
Swept away - the imagined first dance.
Damn, $20K 3 years ago?!?!? I knew it wasn't meant to be.
Well, January Wedding may have to do - anyone want to get married? [EDIT: What? This makes no sense Matt.]
Can't we just get married immediately before or right at a show and then pretend we hired them personally? Smiling
"Well, January Wedding may have to do - anyone want to get married? [EDIT: What? This makes no sense Matt.]"
dang it! am i too late?
i was going to say- is a september wedding too soon?? the 19th more specifically? Smiling
but your edit shows you came to your senses. lol, by the way!
--
~an electric current moves us around, we sank to our knees to worship the sound~
LOL! I'd even get married again to have them play at my wedding!
--
"you're the words... in a song.. that Hoon sang to me...."
FYI,
There are 144 days left to find someone reasonably decent, get engaged, set up a service, and procure the services of The Avett Brothers for a January Wedding.
oooh! and plenty of time to get Jim Avett ordained online, so he can perform the service! Laughing out loud
Matt, I'm blushing, that's such a personal (and heartfelt) question to ask online. but okay, what the hell.
and "resaonably decent"--you flatter me (us?) so....
(will I be hearing a voicemail of Offering any time soon?)
I wanna have friends that I can trust,
That love me for the man I’ve become, not the man that I was.
I would probably die if Jim officiated. It would make my life. He's quite possibly one of my favorite people on the face of the planet.
Team Avett #36
lildeadhead: that pen she uses to keep her setlists? it's a human-finger bone. dipped in the blood of the ones who yell out during "murder in the city". poetic, no?
My husband recently told me that he was getting burnt out on TAB. I feel sort of silly that I can't get over the fact that he said it. I tried to act like it didn't bother me, but well...you know.
Some things are better left unsaid. Hopefully he's learning that...Sad
I think January 2010 is too soon for anything other than a love like the movies, but there's plenty of time to find a relationship and maybe aim for January 2011. True love is not the kind of thing you should turn down. Or rush.
The only person I know around here who's already engaged is Toby...hmmm, wonder if they've set a date.
"I feel sort of silly that I can't get over the fact that he said it. I tried to act like it didn't bother me, but well...you know."
Jennifer, when the "I and Love and You" single came out, my boyfriend told me that he didn't think it was the best choice for the first single, and we debated the merits of whether or not it should it have been. I called him later that day and said "I have to ask you something really important..." and then just blurted out "You do like the song, don't you? I don't know how I'd feel if you didn't like this song!"
See, I couldn't even pretend like it didn't bother me, so kudos to you.
I am crazy. He has accepted this.
(PS, he likes the song. He's not crazy about the studio versions of Kick Drum Heart and Laundry Room but they're growing on him. I can live with that.)
