Avetts missed grammy nomination and Mumford and Sons got one? Why?

Just so very disappointed to not see their name on the list. In my mind, Mumford wouldn't be who they are without the brothers' contribution to music. Understand they are talented, BUT PLEASE! TAB are always winners in my book!!!!!!

I'm not surprised or disappointed. It's the Grammys.
@yellowbandit I agree with you. It's the same reason Kanye got 7 nominations. Commercial popularity.
I figured since The Avett Brothers did not release any new music in 2011 they would not be eligible for a Grammy this year. Then I looked up the song Mumford and Sons are nominated for. It was released to radio in the US on 26 October 2010. So I guess I just don't understand the process.
@sundayrehab The eligibility period for nominated recordings at this year's Grammys is Oct. 1, 2010, to Sept. 30, 2011.

When given two choices, the Grammy nominators always pick the lesser of the two. I never pay attention to awards shows of any kind. Those awards are not a hallmark of quality. Please don't invite me to your Grammy/Oscar/Emmy/Tony/etc. party because I won't attend. Please invite me to your Darwin Awards party though because they are a hoot.
I'm with you olychild. Although i do feel Artist should be recognized for work, award shows/ competitions have always kind of annoyed me. How can ones self expression be deemed "better" than some one else's?
That's what I wanted when I posted.... opinions. And I am feeling better that they were not eligible. Guess I just want the world to know how beautiful their music is and how special they are. All you have to do is attend a show and you feel the love that flows from both sides of the stage. Happy days Avett fans!
Their music should not even be judged alongside the CRAP that is being cranked out these days.

Mumford and Sons is, obviously, more appealing to the masses.
Im more interested in the new release than any award show.
I just can't wait until "CMT artist of the year" Does anyone know their role in the show?
and, even though, it stings that our boys weren't nominated, we shouldn't be tearing down another band. So, to answer the question that is this board topic, I don't know why the Avetts missed grammy nomination, Mumford and Sons got one because they are a good band.
oh, and I see Mumford and Sons benefitting from (and being more in line with) Old Crow Medicine Show, than I do The Avett Brothers.
