Oh my!! What a set black blue so jealous!
If you hear a sound, it is me whimpering. Wow.
Even the title of the new song says a lot. Can.not.wait. to hear it.

It seems as though there is no destination for us… just a passing through and a disappearing when it is our time.
Thanks for posting this setlist. I was there last night, it was my first Avett Bros concert and I am still reeling from the awesomeness. For me, the highlight was "die then grow" which I got video of. Holy cow that song is incredible, and I feel lucky to have heard it.
I also fell in love with Seth's solo version of "Black, Blue" and Scott's solo version of "Murder in The City".
Every song they played was perfection, and I absolutely can't wait for my next show!
@passionista Post the video, please, please, please....
I'm not too great at technical stuff like that but I will work on it. Might take me a day to figure it out. It's such an amazing song though so it will be worth figuring out!
...Wow.
What a set !!! Tks Ben and thankful for the vid Passionista !!!!!!
First of all, wow. Second of all, WOW. Third of all, holy s***. Fourth, I knew Spokane would be "the show" of this run. Fifth, I think "Die, Then Grow" is actually "Anita," a song left off I&L&Y (going by Julianne's beautiful calligraphy for the track listing here, tenth picture).
--
All that comes, it comes here to pass
Oh Emma, so insightful are you!!!
I gave in and watched the video and was debating with myself...Are they saying "Anita" or "I need her" ?!?!?...wanting to lean towards Anita, but they haven't used actual girl's names in a while so I thought "no way, can't be"...but that must be it.
Hmmmm, very interesting.

My advice is simple: experience these artists.
Still in awe of the beautiful setlist you guys got (as if my song by song freaking out with Marissa on here wasn't enough
).
Good call, Mooncutter! Sounded like they sang "Anita" to me too - wonder which Anita inspired this one, it's been awhile since they've used someone's name in a song. I hadn't seen the original track listing before - interesting that Standing With You and Late in Life were both on there. And Incomplete and Insecure was called Incomplete and Indifferent - the two titles give the song a different flavor.
Edit: Oops - sounds like we had the same thought about the name, CoffeeBomb, but the site took forever to load my reply and I missed yours

Come on people. We all know that they have asked that unreleased songs NOT be posted on YouTube.

It’s more fun than a week at Betty Ford.
I know that was definitely true in the past, David. Is it still official policy? (Things change and get strange with the movement of time...)
I'm definitely not doubting your knowledge, but I did hear differently in my travels last spring out west.
The gist of what was being said was that Scott (in conversations post-show with fans) had taken a different stance on unreleased songs/videos in particular...it seemed that it was a throwing-up-of-hands and recognition on his part that once they play the songs, there's no way to contain them, really. The audience and the demand is there. Also, the very nature of technology and social/viral media are about spreading everything, not containing it.
However, along with that notion of a relaxed stance on youtube vids came the sense that this would limit the band in playing new/unreleased material, period.
No encouraging of trading/sharing of live audio recordings was expressed. I do think they go hand-in-hand, personally (since you can easily create an mp3 from a youtube vid).
Of course, still no FAQ or policy on the boards here regarding that. And for the newer fans, they clearly don't know of any boundaries they may be crossing.
But to some extent, the grey area seems like it exists for a reason.
As long as there IS a grey area on this though, I full expect that links to these unreleased songs will be deleted if they are posted on the board.
Can we get an official update from Dolph on this?

An official policy is in the works. I get updates every few weeks about how they are working on it. While I'm sure that they know it can't be stopped, I have yet to hear that they have given it the OK.

An unenviable task, no doubt. Sorry to be a pain in your @$$ about it David, but in his defense, the guy who posted the link was probably unaware of protocol here on the boards as it was his first show. lgmde

The new policy was supposed to be ready a couple of weeks after Merlefest but they can’t seem to come up with something everyone involved will agree on. I hope it will include some changes.

Wow! My first day on the boards and I've already caused a stir. Of course, I had no idea that posting the link to that video was a no no, or else I wouldn't have done it. One of the commenters before me asked me to post it, so the thought never entered my mind that it wasn't okay.
I do, however, believe that posting the video can do no harm especially since it's not even the entire song. I firmly believe that sharing is promoting.
Oh, and by the way, CoffeeBomb, thanks for coming to my defense, but I should inform you that I am not a guy. 100% woman last time I checked!
Hopefully it's going on the next album, and then we can all enjoy it: "Aside from playing shows, the band is barreling ahead on new material, and hopes to begin recording an album this winter."

Passionista--no worries, you didn't know, which is why we've all been wanting the official policy from the band/management posted for quite awhile.
Though while many of us disagree with the policy, or rather, wish it weren't the case, I hope that everyone respects whatever that policy may be, esp. on their own board.
this horse has been beaten to death here, though I guess until the policy is out there and there are no stickies, it's probably good that it still comes up every once in awhile. it doesn't matter what we think it *should* be, it really only matters what it is. I'm just bummed that this means we don't get as many new songs anymore.
It seems to me that we should assume the most recent thing we've heard should stand until we hear something new, eh?
hope they come to some sort of decision soon to clear up confusion!

I will keep my wits about myself, disregard directions sent from hell.
And, although I agree with sundayrehab, I think the occasional leak of new music can be healthy.
The "new" song, whatever its name, is fantastic and I will admit that I clicked onto passionista's link to hear it and am both glad and guilty I did.
And now there is positive buzz. Which is always good for a band and its music.
Nice set! I miss them so much... Here we go...off to the tour page!!

The Black Blue performance was amazing especially @ The Bing with such great sound!
Go to Sleep was between Die Die Die and Kick Drum Heart.
changed it. I did the set list in the street after the show and before we went to the bar about 2 hours into my birthday.
and good memory to catch that
