I'll be there with with 4 others. All of whom blame/thank me for their Avett addiction.
me, four of my friends and my sister are driving up there. First show for all of us. I couldn't be more excited!

I will definitely be there with 8 others for sure, and possibly a 9th. I've actually never really been a big fan of Sloss, but since it's TAB playing there, I suppose they could be playing pretty much anywhere and I will still have an awesome time. Can't wait until next Saturday night!

Avettconvert,,,well Sloss is kind of like a big shed if that tells you anything. It's certainly not going to have acoustics like a theater or smaller venue like Workplay here in town. I'll be curious to see how the Avetts sound in there. It's also pretty much under an overpass, so it's definitely a unique venue. But that being said, they do usually get big names to play there. I believe Wilco is there tomorrow night...Anyway, I'm sure it will be a great show regardless of wherever it is!

FOUR DAYS! Thankfully the Indy & Danville youtube videos help to get one through the week...can't wait for the real thing on Saturday...!
AlabamaJubilee, we're playing a music festival called "Sewaneeroo". It's put on by a student organization at the University of the South called Mountaintop Musicians. We're excited.
The closer this weekend gets, the more and more I get excited... It's been since New Year's...
missingavett, have you ever thought of playing any Avett tunes? i bet that might sound ok.
I've seen missingavett play multiple times. They play a majority of Avett tunes, and they do it well. Anyways, I have an extra ticket if anybody wants it. It's free. My girlfriend bailed on me because her sister is getting engaged. Anyways email me if you want it, I can meet you outside the gate (Tyler85@gmail.com). It should be a fun show. Sloss is more suited to loud, high energy bands so it should be a fun Avett show. (#6 for me)

anyone know what time the doors (are there doors? gates?) open?
How early are people linin' up?
I did some investigating on the Ticketmaster website. There's no official "gates/doors open" time listed, but it does say the box office opens 1 hour before the show starts, so I'm guessing that's the time the doors will open?
Also, heads up: It says parking costs $5.
My crew and I (6 of us all together) will be getting there pretty early so we can be front & center. Say hi if you see us - my brother is 6'8" - kind of hard to miss. We'd love to meet y'all!
Avettconvert,,,,just wanted to send an update out about Sloss...I actually just got back from the Wilco show tonight (spontaneous decision the wife and I made,,,,awesome show, btw). Anyway, if you're up close to the front of the stage, you should be good. Anywhere past that and the sound is complete garbage, plus if you're too far back, you can't see the stage anyway. Like I said earlier, the place is a huge shed, so we're not talking theater-like acoustics or anything. It's really a weird venue, but pretty decent size so you shouldn't have trouble getting up front if you really want to. I don't anticipate having to get there at 3:00 or anything for a spot next to the stage. We actually got there tonight as the opener was playing and went and stood about four rows deep...As for that overpass, yes you can stand up there and hear the show for free,,,,but I'm guessing the people that are walking that overpass are more fans of crack than they are the Avetts or any other band playing at Sloss, so I'd advise against it.....But it's going to be one helluva show regardless! I know which addiction I prefer... maybe walking by will convince them to transfer their own. Avettfever is probably a lot easier on the whole body.

BhamAvettFan, thanks for the update. That's too bad the sound is not so great beyond the front, but oh well. When the Avett Bros are town, you can't really argue with that. We're planning on being in the very front anyway

anyone know Sloss' policy regarding cameras (with detachable lenses)? I've been kicked out of shows for bringing one before, just wanna be on the safe side here.
I'll be driving from Charlotte and proudly wearing one of my Avett western shirts I recently purchased from Red Canary.
I will be there. Very worried about how late I will be arriving and the proximity to the stage. I have to work in Moody until 7 pm. And there's gonna be hella traffic from the race fans! Very, very worried indeed.

Seems all my work issues have been resolved and I am SUPER PSYCHED about tonight. Haven't seen the boys since September, and I probably won't be making Charlotte - even though it's on my BIRTHDAY!!!
So, this might be my only 2009 Avett date. Even though that breaks my heart, I'm gonna make the most of it

missingAvett, I'm pretty sure I was standing right next to you cause I talked to someone about the show at crossroads in huntsville and they said this was their 20th show. i live in florence too. let me know when you're gonna play again in town and I'll try to make it out. or if you just wanna swing by sometime and drink a beer and jam some avett brothers songs on acoustics well that'd be cool too.
the stage at this show looked really neat with the huge boiler or furnace or whatever it was in the background. they rocked. I thought the sound from the right front was great. seems like they played forever before they left for the encore. and maaaan there was a CRAPLOAD of people there. when i got back up on the overpass I looked down at the sloss furnace parking lot and it looked like the super bowl had just let out. things have sure changed since a year ago. for the better.
the security guard there on my side was putting the smackdown on filming but i'll get some pictures up tomorrow.
