I bought this book for my library and was elated to discover a chapter devoted to the Avetts. The book is Making Notes: Music of the Carolinas by Ann Wicker (editor/author). Courtney Devores wrote the Avett chapter. For those familiar with the Charlotte Observer, she's the music columnist. It's well researched and scholarly, worth the price.

We've got that book. It would be worth reading even without the Avett chapter.

This is a good book. I picked it up for the Avett chapter (I mean, that's pretty freakin' cool), but it's really worth it for the rest too. The idea of having a coffee table book always kind of bothered me, but this is mine. I've made an exception for something this unique.
