boring

boring

Had the experience of seeing this "one key only" band tonight. I was soo sick of everry song sounding the same, I was ready to take that banjo away from that 3 chord playing bore-monster. I couldn't tell when one song (song?) started and ended!!

That "Brooklyn Brooklyn" song makes no sense, and insults the South. If I ever hear it again, it will be wayyyyy too soon. Yuck!

I was never so glad to see a concert end an hour before it should. Won't get your money's worth seeing these one-key wonders! Avett? Should be "Boring Brothers".

Wow....I bet whoever had the pleasure of your company for this show had a fantastic time. Not.

Instead of being nasty, just don't listen to the Avett's anymore. It's your right. Don't try to ruin everyone elses enjoyment because you don't like it.

Your post bored me.

What the heck?!

Last night had an EXCELLENT setlist. Dude was probably too drunk to tell what was goin on.

hoodat, I can tell that you are one of a kind. Isn't it too bad everyone can't be as original as you? Trolling is so avant garde.

There is a big difference between a bad show and a good show that just wasn't your cup of tea. What artists do you like?

that you would take the time to troll on the Avett message board speaks volumes about your personality. I am so sure your talent far exceeds TAB that it should be beneath you to take your precious time to produce such negativity.

"Hoodat" does not want to engage anyone in a civil critique. His ploy is a tired one as LindaM points out.

I did enjoy his last dig at TAB where called them the Boring Brothers...that was quite original. Eye-wink

De-friend

hoodat-you must have followed a group of people to the show not knowing what brilliant musicianship you were about to experience and just weren't prepared for it..... I think your mind was completely blown so do us all a favor and go be mean somewhere else.

Hoodat hmm.. Sounds like that one drunk guy in the audience that keeps asking for Rocky Top. Glad you shared your opinion, more Avett for us.

nah probably the guy in the balcony who yells "PLAY MURDERRRRR!!!!"

really?....REALLY?!?!

I typically try to refrain from feeding posts of this ilk, but I truly feel sorry for this guy, so I'll toss a little bone...with such negative vitriol, there is no place for him here...maybe it's his wife I feel sorry for...hang in there woman..."there's a darkness upon you that's flooded in light"...

By the way what's more boring than attempting to start a lame flame war on a band message board ? Is this 1998?

...did he even listen to the WORDS of I and Love and You?..it "makes no sense"...?? whatever dude. by the way... that's exactly what I thought of his concert review....." it makes no sense".

and...Columbia MD was so wonderful last night I could barely stand it! could have listened and watched them play for hours and hours. Thank you Avett Brothers!

I smell falafel.

This thread is now about things that are boring that don't involve music.

For example, a house with all its walls painted plain beige, and people who have nothing better to do than troll. #Yawnsville

waiting in an airport or on a metro platform.
time. stands. still.

How could you listen to I and Love and You and think it makes no sense or that it is insulting to the South???? Its obviously a love song, but besides that I sense a man born and bred in the South who is nervous about weather or not the North will accept him and what he has to offer while leaving the woman he loves in order to do it.

Anybody want to see my troll tattoo? Hold on a sec while I wipe the falafel off of it.

He is probably a Lady Gaga fan and top ten.

Hey Now I like Lady Gaga but I love The Avett Brothers. I just saw them in Indy and it was awesome. The best way to start a mth off.

if you hated them so much why did you take the time to go out of your way to make an account just to say you hated their show...next time look into a band before you go see them live dont just go to a concert to go to a concert espcially not an avett brothers concert.

I am most certain this guy is a very talented musician with a plethora of awards and accomplishments. Kindof sad if you think of it that he is wasting such valuable time posting on the "Boring Brother's" web site and not working on his next big hit. Childish.

I honestly cant believe that you took the time to get an account on the website of a band that you dont even like.

Move along folks, nothing to see here

Uh yeah I love Lady Gaga, too. What kind of insult is that supposed to be? She's talented, worked hard to be where she is, kind to her fans and a champion of equality. Not to mention there's nothing wrong with listening to a wide variety of music. I know that I've openly disliked other artists on this board, but I try to avoid insulting their fans.

go catch a bus

One time my cousin Walter got this cat stuck up his ass. True story. He bought it at our local mall so the whole fiasco wound up on the news. It was embarrasing for my relatives and all, but next week, he did it again. Different cat, same results, complete with another trip to the emergency room. So, I run into him a week later in the mall and he's buying another cat. And I says to him, "Jesus, Walt! What are you doing? You know you're just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too. Why don't you knock it off?" And he said to me, "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy.

It has been a crap day Reiggin, thanks for the laugh. I needed it.

What about the time he was on the plane to New Mexico?

I wont say it was boring cause it was not, but they do need to learn to play a variety. I counted 8 songs from Friday that were recycled on Saturday. That is not how you pack em in forever.

8 songs? That's only about a third of the set. I'd say they mixed it up pretty well. To expect a completely different set is ridiculous.

Bahhahahhaha

olychild -- check out Umphreys 4 night run at the Brooklyn Bowl, 4 nights no repeats-- it should not be too hard with a 2 night run. I probably want too much this is just another pop band.

Yellow-- what are you 15, idiot

Um my birthday was last week, I'm 16 now.

I'd rather see The Avett Brother's play the same setlist 10 times then go to see umphreys mcgee once.

I have seen many many bands do two night runs & no, I've never seen one do an entirely different set night to night.

Jam bands are in a different category. You need to realize that many bands rehearse only a certain number of songs for a tour. Just because you have a large catalog doesn't mean you've played all those songs recently enough to pull them out & play them without some practice. Jam bands value spontaneity over a polished performance & that can be a good thing, but that is not the case for everyone. I'll take a tightly performed song over a 30 minute jam every time.

Try seeing Steve Earle or Lucinda Williams sometime. Nearly the same set every night. Lucinda's been doing the same two blues covers for over twenty years now. I love her but that does get dull.

Perhaps you should avoid two night Avett runs in the future to stave off disappointment.

AMEN.

I have seen alot of music and I usually steer clear of Bands that I think do greatest hits shows, but i like this band alot so i gave em a shot. It was cool, but definitely not someone to see multi nights. You are wrong about one thing-- Umphreys is a set of guys who will give you both perfection and a 30 minute jam in one setting.

Dailyfish-- you should give the Umph a shot they will blow your mind apart. You like what you like i guess but step out of your box. I did.

All of you should demand more from this band-- you should not settle for the same setlist 10 times. Im out. going to Albuquerque tomorrow to see the Avett Bros, I wonder how many of you true fans will be there.

Going to multiple shows does not constitute a "true" fan. If I could quit my job and blow all my money on Avett tickets and follow their tour bus around, I would. Creepy, sure, but I'd do it. Take the extra money you are spending on multiple Avett tickets and buy some Umphrey's McGee shirts or something. I hope they never disappoint you and play a repeat on a two night run...sheesh...think of the consequences.

I've tried listening to Umphrey's Mcgee just can't really get into them. Not a big jam band fan but I could listen to Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks jam for hours.

I understand the quick changes are alot for some people. Warren and Derek i can take or leave, not much of an Alman Bros or Mule fan.

To each his own. Oh no, someone repeated a few songs on night two! 30 minute jam zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. The Grateful Dead's biggest failing was their love for 40 minute space jams. Excuse me while I crank up the five night Avett Brothers run I recorded Smiling

olychild--Well I can tell I have struck some nerves. I did not mean to upset you, but your lack of intellegent conversation about music is not very appealing. You act like you wrote the set lists or you get paid by the band or something. Its funny that you want to hear the hits every night , its like they tell you which songs to like. PS Space and drums were not my favorite either, but these cats could not hold Jerry's guitar for him much less play it. So please just enjoy them but dont compare them because there is not comparison.

I've seen Umphrey's McGee before. I hated them, and I couldn't wait for the show to be over. It was probably one of the worst live "music" experiences I've ever had. (By the way, before you start telling me that I'm in error, let me remind you that that is my opinion. Thus, I'm not wrong, I just don't agree with you. I'm very happy that you enjoy them though! We should all be so lucky that we find something to make us so happy! For me, it's the Avett Brothers. See how that works? Aren't opinions cool in how they make us all unique?)

How I wish I was going to be at the show tomorrow - one day I *will* see this "boring" band on my birthday, but this isn't the year. But had I known it was a requirement for me to call myself a "true" fan, I would have definitely flown across the country during the middle of the week to a city I don't like very much to see them and DEMAND that they sing me happy birthday and a totally unique set list consisting of songs that I've never heard live before, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT A TRUE FAN DOES!

Blarg.

I did not say they were boring. I said they were good, but I had a complaint and voiced it. You should listen to your own words about opinions. I did not say anyone was wrong. You are right about one thing, a true fan does go across country on their birthday to see their favorite band. You should go back and read my true fan comment, it was you true fans that were dogging me out cause I thought your favorite band played to many repeats in a two day run. I had no idea that I would run into such closed minds here sorry for intruding in your Perfect Space.

"You are wrong about one thing-- Umphreys is a set of guys who will give you both perfection and a 30 minute jam in one setting."

No need to apologize though. You're forgiven.

I was speaking to Olychild - disputing the difference in Jam bands and others. I do apologize if you were offended. I do find it hard to believe that it was the worst live show you have seen though.
