I'm voting for ".....the album release date was pushed back because we decided this HAD to be a double album."

2up2down: "Live DVD?"

Yes, please. That would be wonderful news!

Oh ya that'd be good too. Orrrrrr the long-awaited Crackerfarm Documentary

I noticed that, but was still caught up in everything else. I am SO excited, I can't wait.

saltines or Ritz?

I hope it's Ritz, personally. But what about cookies?

Mmmm, cookies.

I'm totally down with free cookies. Though, something from the album would be cool too.

we got free cookies from Bob after the show in Philly. They were really good.

I was going to say, the guys should personally deliver cookies to the line in Charlotte as a "consolation prize." as you chew, you hear snippets of the album. magic!

I was thinking it may be something available via iTunes. I hate to reference Dave Matthews Band again, but...

Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King was available to listen to along with behind the scenes material with an iTunes Pass over a month before it's June 2nd release.

"..It’s not where I am…it’s who I’m with.."

I will forget about I&L&U if they play it all in Charlotte and they give out the Third Gleam, which would feature Standing with You, Solomon, Late in Life, More of You, Down with the Shine, and Skin and Bones.
Also, my Wednesday would even be better if the U.S. Men's National Soccer team can upset Spain in the Confederation's Cup in South Africa at 2:30.

I am gonna guess its going to be an announcement for Halloween...

KingsOfJim.... No Way US beats Espana! Count on Torres to score at least twice... I lived in Andalucia for three years and have seen the national team play 5 times... they're too fast for the US

You lived in Spain? That's too cool! I love Spanish wine and yummy tapas. But even though i speak espanol, i can't understand a word of ethpanol.
oh, that was totally off topic.
ok...the gift is gonna be....uh, a single I guess? Avett action figures? A raffle for a special seat on the bus?

I'm holding out hope that the US can have a good showing.....albeit a small hope

"Do the best you can and that won't go unseen."

Yankee, How can you have a name with Yanks in it and not root for the Americans. I know that they Spaniards are heavy favorites, and I am hoping that they come into the game with that mentality of overconfidence. If we can keep all eleven on the field the whole game, and don't make any brutal mistakes, I think we can hang and at least make it competitive. I think Onyewu will give Torres fits, I am more worried about Villa.
While we are on soccer, I have seen the Avett's video on youtube where they played a concert in a full soccer uniform. Does anybody know if they played growing up?

Agreed the Spanish team is way too fast for the United States. They will obviously have that confident mentality, because they have earned it as a squad. I also favor Spain a little because of my boy, Fàbregas being a life long Arsenal supporter, but what can you do? I was impressed with the U.S. 1-0 loss against spain in euro. i thought that was about as good as it gets.

Yes KingsOfJim they were in Futbol kits for the World cup. To answer your question about my fandom. I never got into US soccer. However when I joined the Navy my first station was Rota, Espana (about 60KM south of Sevilla). I lived there for about three years. Spanish Futbol is a way of life it's die hard over there. I rival to even say bigger that US Football and baseball combined. ...and as far as the Yankees are concerned growing up in the Philly suburbs my granpa used to take me up to the Bronx 3 times a season and I fell in love...

greybird... see this proves we def haven't chatted enough. Me encanta el vino español y tapas! I turned an unused utility closet into a wine cellar and it's filled with Tinto, Tempernillo.. There are two awesome spanish tapas bars in Philly so you'll have to come up. Maybe we can set up a gathering??

"One foot in and one foot back, but it don't pay to live like that. So I cut the ties and I jumped the track, for never to return..."

Man, it's nuts to hear the studio version of a song that I've only heard live (or on podcasts or whatever). It's like it's brand new. Jesus. This album is going to wreck me.

Will you forget when we have paid our debts,
who did we borrow from, who did borrow from?

SWOONING. LOL

OK, I'm declaring that TAB suffers from "Grateful Dead affliction".

As wonderful as their songs are, they never translate as well on record as they do live. Not saying they suck, just the live versions are usually so much better.

Which makes me wonder why you wouldn't want people to hear them live, but don't mind them hearing the "sterile", for lack of a better word, versions first.

What is so very cool, however, is this line....

" The song will be available for a limited time, and we hope you will share it with with friends who may not know us so well."

Sounds like a deal. Everyone who downloads this song should make it a point to email the link to somebody who loves music.

Post the link to other music boards we visit.

Burn it to a CD and take it to your favorite record store and just leave it. I used to burn mix cds and take them to the book store and leave them in the magazine section on music. I'd list the dates of up coming shows and people would come up to me and say "Oh, I found one of your mix CDs at the book store."

I would always act surprise in case they actually worked for the bookstore.

Did anyone catch the description at the bottom of the download - Album Available 9/29...what happened to the CD release concert August 8th??

damn, I can't listen to this til I get home--SO anxious to hear the studio version.
So, can we assume this is what the official first single will be that is released to radio?

And your loveliness, no, it doesn't help
No, your beautiful smile don't help

I think I tend to agree with you, although I would take their studio albums over any current recording artist anyday. But I definitely know what you're saying - I didn't really become a huge fan until after I saw them live. I had listened to Mignonette and Four Thieves Gone and Emotionalism and was like "That's nice, they're a good band, I like all these songs" but once I saw them live, I was like "Oh. Well they've officially ruined all other music for me."

Although, I will say, sometimes the stuff they try live doesn't do it for me. In Philly and NYC, they played a "new" version of "All My Mistakes" which I don't love - sounds too "country-fied" and forced for my tastes. I liked it better the second time, but I still think I like the album version better.

japhy - you may want to go and read the news page - the CD has been pushed back.

"One foot in and one foot back, but it don't pay to live like that. So I cut the ties and I jumped the track, for never to return..."

Piano in this recording is much stronger then live. Same with Cello. Maybe lacking some energy but even Avetts in interviews said they stopped trying to make records sound like live shows.

There is also a second keyboard in the mix. It does not really sound like a B3 but who knows. It is very far back in the mix and a high octave. I will have to hear it on better speakers. I like the mix. It’s pretty straight forward with no surprises.

There's something else there too...like an organ sound....You can hear Rick Rubin's fingerprints all over this. I'm not saying that's a bad thing at all, but there are so many vocal harmonies and instrumentation there that weren't present before. Very very interesting. I can't wait to hear the rest of it.
