Hell of an opener!

Love hearing LOL,LOL, too.

How'd they sound? Rested up and rarin' to go, I would bet.

Thanks for posting. Have a good nite Smiling

Sorry about the triple post--I think it happened when I edited. weird.
yep, I haven't heard a lot of LOL, LOL lately, so it was good--great version.
I was pretty excited for PGRaleigh
they were great--lots of energy, seemed to be having fun. talked to them a bit after and they seem ready for NYC!

And your loveliness, no, it doesn't help
No, your beautiful smile don't help

What an excellent show, my first time ever seeing them live (loved the giant sailboat backdrop). They hit every song I wanted to hear that night. 16 in July was interesting to hear at a higher tempo and with other band members adding layers to it. The transition between songs were flawless. PG from Raleigh -> Love Like the Movies and Distraction #74 -> I Killed Sally's Lover are the ones standing out right now. Everyone was sitting down for Perfect Space, missed out on some good rocking out during part two. The highlight of the show for me was when Seth replaced his malfunctioned high-hat with one from the drum kit behind him during Talk on Indolence. Throwing the busted one away then bringing the show to a tremendous ending.

Damn, i'd love to hear Sixteen in July! Here's hoping Seth plays it in Columbus, Myrtle Beach, Charlotte, or Charleston

I can't believe they played 20 songs - it seemed to fly by so fast that I though they played fewer songs than at other shows on this tour. Great set, but there are so many great songs that I always leave their shows wishing they had played more.

It should be noted that 16 in July was full band. That was a nice retreat from the recording.

Great show! The crowd was one of the best I've seen. All ages, kids, old folks, all enjoying the music. Sixteen In July was incredible. Fantastic arrangement and such a shocker as an opener. I knew it was going to be a great night. Pretty Girl From Raleigh and Love Like The Movies were such a treat. The crowd showed so much love. It seemed every single person knew the words and were singing along. It's spreading like wildfire, folks!

At Philly, they played Perfect Space, but I didn't really hear well because I was in the lobby, sitting in the floor, trying to keep myself from passing out. Then I heard it once from the radio set. I was unsure. Last night, the song blew my mind. Totally. Glistening Shine is also going to be a favorite.

I'm on a high and don't wanna come down!!

Great to meet you Brian and Dawnrae! Great to see Jen (thanks!) Ann, Judy, greybird, Steve, Laura, and families. One of these days, I am going to actually get to hang out and get to know you all better!

Yay for getting the setlist posted so quickly, Jen! Smiling

If the Beatles were from Appalachia instead of Liverpool, they might sound like the Avett Brothers – they were that good.

If this is any indication for what's in store for NYC, this is going to be the best weekend of my life.

Down from a Glistening Shine + Murder in the City + Perfect Space = tear-jerking buckling-knee bliss.

seriously it felt like i'd been kissed full on the lips by God, you know - a little bit of amazing grace for the sinner in me. i swear it felt like a tent revival in that auditorium last night. the air was electric. i've been to maybe tens shows, but last nights crowd was probably my favorite ever.

They started playing 16 in July before the curtains even were up. Very classic move.

ndninthecity....I absolutely agree 100% It was electric. Hair standing up on my arms. The atmosphere was alive.

this set was pretty sweet, 16 in july was a huge surprise opener. finishing with talk on indolence was killer. i killed sallys lover and love like the movies were awesome surprises too! crowd was great, drove down from pittsburgh. the auditorium was really cool too. there was a curtain on stage, so i think it added to the drama of the band starting the show. the ship that scott drew hung behind them, incredible.

That is awesome. I am so excited to see them the next two nights in NYC! I hope they play Perfect Space.
