So... my girlfriend is in Germany visiting her sister who is doing school over there. They are currently in Koln.
I am at work, in my office, grinding away on a tight deadline. Oh, wait, my cell phone rings and it's her calling... hello? I say...
First there is just noise then I clearly hear "And I'm done forever, it's you and me forever..." yup, she's at the Avett concert calling me from it so I can have a listen.
Next I receive a call and "in January, let's get married (banjo fill)..."
Needless to say; my girlfriend rules, the Avetts rule and... my mind is now completely scattered in 1000 directions.
So, as a summary...
Good news: I can also now report a partial set list of colorshow and January wedding from the Koln show.
Also good news: I've now been to an Avett show with my ears, just not my body.
Bad news: My deadline looms and I've now got rocks for brains.
Just though I would share, you are the only people who could relate to such a predicament.

I'm upset because I realized my friend, on Spring break right now, is backpacking through Europe, and I know has been in the same cities twice with the Avetts, and I have no way of contacting him to let him know.
Also your girlfriend is the bomb, international calls can't come easy

My favorite phone calls are concert calls- I listened to an entire CA phish show on speaker phone last fall. Not the best quality, but fun, fun, fun to listen to the crowd and show.
Yeah, it was pretty cool. She definitely earned some huge brownie points on that one. Likely earned a fat cell phone bill too, but I'll gladly chip in.
I told her to try and go all superfan on it and wait around to meet them but I've yet to hear one way or the other. I would like to think that I wouldn't go ballistic if I met most celebrities, but the Avetts are definitely an exception. I think it would be so cool to get a chance to meet them and thank them for their work.

So... just a quick update. She is home now and said the concert was amazing. She was 10 feet away from them and the venue was TINY! She went into great details about her various favourite parts of the show, showed me all her photos and then gave me a present...
