I have no words. This is fantastic. I can only hope that all the other albums will follow.
If I am able to have Mignonette on vinyl, I might explode. Or just listen to it repeatedly.
DirtCity, I read somewhere on this board they plan to release all the records, working their way back. Yes, Mignonette will be sweet.
Great news. Any word if In the Curve or Tales of Coming News will be on it?
Is there any way to order it from the store here, or is Amazon the only option? All of our local new record stores have closed.
My town also has no record stores. I am thinking about opening one soon though. I really hope this has the bonus tracks. If not, they should consider releasing them as a 7". The Avetts need more singles.
So excited for this! Haha love that the tagline in the picture says "Emotionalism- Finally on Vinyl." Would be thrilled to get the rest of the catalog on vinyl, especially Mignonette and Four Thieves Gone.
is this a limited pressing?
i hope i and we and us....do not need to purchase this through sony...........vol. 3?
by the way, if any of you happened to get two of the deluxe packages delivered to your door.........but only paid for one. it is mine.
I will definitely be supporting my local record store for this one. I believe the back catalog is still owned by Ramseur and thus is being re-issued by them instead of Sony. The Ramseur logo is in the advert, and no mention of American Recordings.
Yes it is a Ramseur release.
jd;alskjdf;alskjdf;sajdf yay!!! Turns out I will partake in Black Friday this year.
does anyone know if this is a fairly limited release ie: the second gleam limited or will this be more widely available? Also any bonus content?
thepinckpunk,
This is just speculation, but because the advertisement seems to make a big deal out of it being a "virgin pressing", I would imagine that the initial run will be fairly limited with more to come down the road.
The inclusion of bonus tracks has not been confirmed, but it seems like a no-brainer, and given that they included some on The Second Gleam, it wouldn't be surprising to see the iTunes bonus tracks show up. At the very least, I believe Scott has mentioned doing expanded artwork for the vinyl releases, so that's a nice bonus to look forward to.
I know it will be marked up differently at every store but does anyone have a guess on cost?
Amazon listed suggested retail at $30.49.
I pre-ordered in for $28 or something like that. I would have like to buy it at my record store, but I'll be home and far far away for Thanksgiving break from school. Hopefully Amazon doesn't let me down.
thanks blasto. it seemed there was a great deal of emphasis on "virgin pressing" so i just wanted to make sure it was worth getting it on initial run. It would be great to see the tracks included. i guess there's no reason for them not to.
I checked at my local shop today & the suggested list is 27.99. Man, record companies have been seriously marking up LPs since everyone "rediscovered" vinyl. A few years back most 180G LPs listed for about twenty bucks. I looked at the new Neil Young LP today: 37.99!
Yeah, it is definitely a more expensive record, but obviously one I'm willing to spend money on.
We have a local used record store here that has a limited supply of new records. I asked them to order Emotionalism and they said they were already planning on it and will call me when it comes in. Thank goodness!
I think you can expect a double album with lyrics included, extra artwork and maybe a couple of new photos. It also includes a download card.
That is pretty high for vinyl, but it's not like that will stop me from buying it. I'm so so so excited for the artwork and hopefully bonus tracks! Since their working their way back through their catalog does anyone know if The Avett Brothers EP and Live at Double Door Inn will eventually make it on to vinyl?
I'm guessing you'll see Bob and Joe dressed in vinyl before you'll see either of those albums released on vinyl.
Hope I'm wrong.
Wrong about the album releases, that is.
Don't get your heart set on bonus tracks.
So I ordered it thru amazon bc it was only like 25 with shipping. I know, I know, I'd rather support my local record store, but I must also support my wallet.
Well Jen, I'm buying it at my local shop (and former employer) because they still sell me things @ cost. That supports my wallet
Yeah I figured that bonus tracks and the first two albums were unlikely, but why not ask the people that would know? I'm pretty sure that between the two vinyl stores in Memphis I'll be able to buy it here and not order off amazon; amazon's cool for low priced cd's but I really hate waiting for packages to come in the mail.
Reiggin--Bob and Joe dressed in vinyl could be really funny, next year's Halloween costumes? haha
I keep ordering from Amazon.ca with the hope that Mary Elizabeth Winstead will show up on my doorstep.
like
Dear Santa,.....
hmmm.
So does anyone know where I can get it in Charlotte today? I figured Manifest would have it....but no. I guess I'll have to pick it up at Horizon when I'm home for Thanksgiving break. Boohooo, then I won't be able to listen until I get back on Sunday!
Just bought mine at Ear x-Tacy in Louisville. It's kind of a dream come true. So happy to finally have this on vinyl. I don't even know if I should have opened it, since it has this fancy "first pressing!" sticker on the front, but dammit, I want to listen to it.
Picked mine up at the local record store today. It truly is a beautiful package. I cant help but think an opportunity was missed not including the bonus tracks, but it was worth every penny regardless. I certainly hope to see more of these in the future. Although, if I must complain, the paper sleeves for the records are a little thin, and were already creased and bent by the weight of the record. That did slightly irk the collector in me.
To end on a positive note, I am really happy to have official lyrics. And the thought that the photographs were taken less than a mile from my house is pretty cool, too. Overall, this is a wonderful package, and I hope to see more in the future, going all the way back to the first EP.
weird it wouldn't be at manifest. lunchbox records?
Booooo.
Hopefully it's at Horizon in Greenville tomorrow...I was kinda shocked that Manifest (in Charlotte) didn't have it today! Maybe they got a second shipment of stuff later in the day after I called around noon.
Battier: I tried calling Lunchbox a couple times today and nobody answered. I had never heard of the store before today, but not a very good first impression for me.
p2y2r7o,
Harvest Records in Asheville has it, if all else fails.
Yeah, my record store isn't getting it in till next week, they were more focused on the slew of special releases and 7" for Black Friday. They're letting my gf know as soon as it's in, so she can get it for me as a Christmas present.
Surprise!
I called my local record store yesterday morning and they only had one copy! The guy wouldn't hold it for me so I hurried myself over there and managed to snag it! I have yet to open it... I just keep looking at it. hahaha. That and my record player is broken.
Luchbox posted on Facebook that they had it! Pretty much a one man show there, but keep trying!
All is well, found it at Horizon yesterday! Although it would have been a great excuse to go hang out in Asheville for a day...
bought mine at my local shop today, so stoked, didn't they say they were working on extra artwork or something for it? i didn't find anything new? i was expecting a booklet or something, still so very awesome to have on vinyl
The picture of the bird with the arrow through it is new, as are the photos on the record sleeves. Plus the lyrics. None of that was in the original package.
'Bird with the arrow through it'!? New theme?
Well, it's the same as the bird on the cover, it just has the arrow going through it instead of carrying it. It's not exactly new artwork, because it used to be featured on the Emotionalism stage backdrop. Among all the regular birds, you could spot one or two with the arrow through them. So it's not new art, just new to this package.
has anyone seen the colored version they will be selling at the 12/30 Asheville show? They just tweeted about, wondering if anyone has more info about it.
@zip I purchased 4 of the colored versions at the show. Two red and two silver. They are really nice.
Got a copy of the red but I can't imagine opening it up since I've already got a standard copy.
tydefan,
In the same boat! I can't bring myself to open the silver one I bought. Since the run was so limited, I figured I couldn't pass on an opportunity to probably make some good money on down the road. I just wish they didn't look identical to the original. How do I even know I have the right one?
i guess all your trust is in that little colored sticker on the back.
