man, it seemed to go so much quicker than 22 songs! what a great set

Marysstikal-
Good to meet you, thanks for the setlist. Hopefully I'll see you Friday and/or Saturday.

Lots of new stuff (unreleased) and lots of old stuff, not so much in between (Emotionalism and Four Thieves), and a couple of covers that I wasn't familiar with were a great mix. I really liked Greensboro Woman a lot, and was disappointed to find it wasn't their song, which probably nixes any chance it'll be on the record. The new songs (none of which I'd heard besides Late In Life and Kick Drum Heart) sound great, but I found it interesting that the band made no mention of the pending release of the record. It's not like they'll be back before it comes out, and it would've surely alleviated some of the "why don't I know this song?" vibe that I was feeling. With that, maybe that would explain some of the lack of energy from the crowd. I don't care how good and energetic a band is (and few if any top our boys), it's hard to get into a show if you don't know the songs being played. If I were a newer fan and had, say, the two Gleams, Emotionalism and Four Thieves, I only would know 7 of these songs, which would kind of f*** with me. Last year's Zoo show remains my favorite ever, let's hope the Crystal continues to hold that energy.

In any event, the long-time fan has to love the older stuff played here, some real surprises (Pretty Girl From Cedar Lane! - it took me a minute to even recognize it - I don't even think I've heard it played live before, maybe the first time I saw them or at SpringFest '06)

Nice--I'd LOVE to see Greensboro Woman! Nice mix. Is Timdog hoarse from screaming during Cedar Lane? Old or new Late in Life?
Okay, rest up boys....

SSS, The Greatest Sum, & Cedar Lane...and Greensboro Woman

Very cool, y'all. All of those are on my wishlist.
Does that mean I don't get to hear them this weekend? If it means I get to hear even more on my list, I'm OK with that!

Wonder if Catfisher's right and they're gonna break out a bunch of oldies in PDX...?

Wow what a set.....of course you could say that about any TAB set really:) Wish I could see wanted man, maybe they will lay it down in portland.........I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm green with envy. Philly can't come soon enough.

Hoarse is an understatement!! I had to apologize to everyone around me after Cedar Lane, on account of me going all gran mal. I hope to see a video or something, cause I didn't really get to hear any of it.

All in all it was an amazing night. I felt at times like the band was playing specifically for our group, and the setlist was AWESOME!! Dissappointing that there weren't many people there, but I loved the show. My head, throat, and hand are all killing me today...

We'll see youuuuuuuu at Lolaaaaa's, Fridayyyy Niiiiiiiiiiiight!!

Whoopsidaisy... 3 posts... I guess I liked it even more than I knew.

timdog, i got a photo of you during Cedar Lane. Eye-wink

Cedar Lane for the TimDog!! arrrrright!! AND Last Song to Jenny? i feel like they have played songs in the past two weeks that i have been wanting to hear live, that they don't play often - and so i won't get to hear any of them in Portland - orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - they are just rehearsing so they can play them ALL in Portland!!!

Boy that’s depressing. I feel sorry for the people around you. I suppose they did not get to hear it ether. You were right to apologize.

Oh man, Last Song to Jenny? you guys are so lucky!

eric: my daughter (whose tee shirt you commented on at the restaurant and whose first show was last Thursday in Santa Cruz) said afterwards that after 4 shows she'd finally learned some of the words to some of the songs but she mostly couldn't sing along at this show. later she asked "mom, you have all their songs that i can put on my ipod?" Smiling

PS - i still IOU

last song to jenny was sooooo amazing...i was not expecting it at all and it was SUCH a beautiful version! the last half did really feel like it was just for us, since they played 2 of both ricker's and timdog's requests...1 of which they each yelled out, and 1 of which they didn't. so they did both our requests and our heart's desires. Smiling

and yes, eric, we'll be seeing you friday AND saturday. definitely. Eye-wink

WHAT!?!!?!??!!?!

WHAT?!? I saw this earlier but somehow missed that they played LAST SONG TO JENNY!?!

WHAT!?!!?!??!!?!

Seth is ON it. Man...!

WHAT!?!!?!??!!?!

Angi, didn't you read between the lines? didn't get a wink of sleep?

Not a wink!
