you really should have made the topic title "EUROPE TOUR 2010 INFO?" otherwise it seems like you have a europe tour info, and you don't.

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different, we love to talk on things we don't know about.

woohoo! Welcome, Jim. Are you from Amsterdam?

The avètt Brothers last seen in Netherlands
> Amsterdam • Paradiso
The avètt Brothers in recent years built up a fanatical fanbase in America but in Europe it is not so hard. Probably things change next year if they show what a great live band they are. At March 22 they go loose in the upper room of Paradiso.
Doors open 21:00
Start: 21:30
Admission: 9 Euro plus membership (3.50 pm / 25, - pj)

I live close to Amsterdam. They play in the small hall of the Paradiso, one of the best venues ever, used to be a church. the small hall holds about 250 people. Can't wait to finally see them!

Jim, do you know when tickets for this show go on sale and what the best way for folks across the pond to obtain them?

--
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different, we love to talk on things we don't know about.

they go on sale dec 12.

probably through http://www.ticketmaster.nl/
they have e-ticketing, so should be possible to make an account on there and order them.

AAAAHHHH! More....language I don't read!

Oh wait, there's an english button. heh.

Thanks Jim for the tip! I'm definitely going to at least buy the tickets and figure out the rest later. Amsterdam was the one city that my boyfriend said he really wanted to go to IF we did the European trip. Not sure if we will or not, but the fact that this is the first city announced is a sign.

Oh man. I thought I would be able to resist a longing to go to these, but nope, here it is full on.

250 people venue... wow. I hope so many of you guys get to go, and report back to us at home base!

Geez...I wish that they would just go ahead and announce this stuff officially. Everything seems to get "scooped" anyway...I would love to go to Amsterdam, but am holding out for Dublin...

Linda, we'll see. I just told Eli they were going to be in Amsterdam and he didn't immediately say "No way," so that is a start at least. I would love to go.

Crossing my fingers that at least part of the Europe dates are during the summer. Haven't they ever heard of Busy Season? I can't get time off during March Sad

250 people! Man that is seriously tempting. But I swore my next trip abroad would be to Ireland, and I've pushed it off three times now. I'm with lovewritesaletter - fingers still crossed for a Dublin show.

London,The Relentless Garage

Tuesday, 16th March 2010

Oh man is right.

eta: capacity 630

That London date is entirely too close to my Spring Break for me not to consider trying to go...

I would voice my pain, but the change wouldn't last.
All that comes, it comes here to pass.

Just tried running this past the boss and she did not sound too enthused.
Oh well, for all interested I found a pretty good deal for London.

I am SO excited! The Dublin and London shows are both during my spring break!

Here's what I found on Dublin:

Saturday March 13, 2010 @ 8 pm @ Crawdaddy Dublin
Tickets are 14 euros, but with Ticketmaster fees it comes to 15.75 euros, which is currently about $23.
http://www.safeconcerts.com/gigs.asp?gn=70662

According to Fodor's:
Crawdaddy is an intimate venue at the center of the hot Pod nightclub complex. A predecessor to Rolling Stone, Crawdaddy was the very first rock magazine in the United States. The place is an homage to that bygone era of sweat, three chords, and the truth.
http://www.fodors.com/world/europe/ireland/dublin/review-181753.html

Couldn't find an exact number for how many the venue is supposed to hold though.

I really want to make it to this! lovewritesaletter, you said you were holding out for Dublin, anyone else thinking of going? Do you guys think these will sell out quickly? I mean, I know they haven't even officially announced them yet (hope it's not bad to post the info b/f the announcement. please, no one important get mad at me.), but I don't want to miss out!

**Edit** Their website says the capacity is 300.

This is going to be awesome. Don't know if I should grab a pair of tickets now or try to line up a traveling/concert buddy first. I'm more than willing to go it solo though!

hmmm, Avetts @ an old church in the Mother County....perfect excuse to visit the relatives for the first time......i just might have to join you and the boys Heids.....Dec 12th? Jim, what are the chances of this selling out? are you bringing 300+ friends? or is it as hard in the Netherlands as it is sometimes in the States to get peeps interested?

Oh my goodness. Now I'm even tempted. That is the week of my spring break. Why do they do this to me? No, no Taryn, you can't go! You just can't! End internal dialogue.

Motherland on my birthday... I'll start playing the lottery now

Give the love you find until it's gone

Not sure if the Amsterdam show will sell out, not right away anyway. They never get played on the radio or anything and it always seems like i'm the only one around here who knows them. If it does sell out it will probably be because of american tourists Eye-wink

Hey Jim, What is the weather like there in March?
Is the venue in or near the center of the city?

temp in march is usually somewhere in the 50s
venue is right in the center.

And there's Dublin!!!!!!!! Feckin' A! And my birthday is ST. Pattis Day!!!! What other incentive do I need! Yep, I am gonna do whatever I have to do to make it happen!
*insert sound of hammer smashing childrens piggie banks...

Hi all,
New here on the board. Signed up to be able to write how happy and excited we are to be able to finally see the Avett Brothers live. Fan for a good two years it was hard to even get the records here, and I was allready planning a trip to America to go see them. But now finally Europe!! Small venues because only a few people know about the Avett Brothers over here... but I'm sure that will change soon enough. 22 march Amsterdam will be our show!
Any more European fans here?
Greetings to all fans,
JenG

Finally Europe!!

Welcome JenG. That is exciting news for sure. Are there many other fans in the Netherlands?
I have visited your beautiful country and loved it. Had a Mike's Bikes tour of the countryside.
This announcement has caught me by surprise. I was hoping for a European summer tour.
Hopefully this trip will be a big success for TAB and they will go back for more in the summer.
Meanwhile I am sure a lot of US fans are scrambling to figure out a way to get overseas in March.
Enjoy and tell your friends. They won't be disappointed.

Welcome, JenG!

I do remember reading somewhere, that I and Love and You would be released in Europe(?) in January, I believe. Hopefully enough time to build up more of a following.

Get ready to be blown away by the greatest band!!

Let's see, added to the price of flight, hotel, and transportation, the price of the ticket just tips it to impossible!

Sorry that it seems ridiculous to post the ticket prices with all the other costs involved. I got really excited and was posting all the info I could find.

I was really counting on going to Europe when they played there, but March isn't so good for us. However, traveling to Europe from Jan-March is usually the cheapest time of year, so I will start some investigations. Seeing them in a small venue is just too much to pass up.

They'll play Cologne in March (24.03).
I'm pretty excited because I found it by accident.

Tickets are €15.05 (ticketmaster)
http://www.gebaeude9.de/
capacity is 500

I'm now officially having European FOMO.

--
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different, we love to talk on things we don't know about.

^FOMO for sure! I even had a mini anxiety dream about it last night.

Been wanting to go to Ireland (my people!) for years, and getting to see TAB in such a small venue would be amazing. But this year has been kinda rough and my savings are depleted. I'm not ready to close the door completely, but it isn't feeling very likely right now.

If anyone on the board gets to go, I expect a full report!

This is all so exciting! I'm incredibly geeked for all the new fans in Europe, and their opportunity to finally see what the boys are capable of live!

"one with Earth and one with God"

I've been researching...flights from Charlotte to Dublin can be had for 500 bux and charlotte is notorious for "gouging"! And really, it's soooo close to ST. Patricks day...in DUBLIN! You all need to put this on your Christmas wishlist...or have a bake sale or whatever! It's a once in a lifetime...

I'm doing all I can to make the Dublin show. The week before the show is my spring break and I'm trying to make a week of it. The trip would probably cost me my entire financial aid refund check and then some, which wouldn't be the smartest idea I've ever had. But somehow, someway, I'm going to make this thing work.

All that comes, it comes here to pass.

I am so impressed by the determination of folks making this happen. I just don't see it working out for us to go. I could potentially go alone, but I think that would be a s***ty thing to do to my boyfriend, who is responsible for me knowing about the Avetts in the first place, plus I know it wouldn't be as much fun without him. Soooo....unless we win the Lottery (which I'm buying tickets for every week), this is probably a no for me.

But we'll see.

Smiling

Wow, I just saw that the Avett Brothers are playing in Cologne in March one day after my last exam! That's definitely the most exciting news of this week! Really looking forward to it!

welcome, AvettNationGermany! Love the username Laughing out loud

Does anyone know when there will be an official announcement of the European shows?
Love to know if there will be a show in Spain.

--

Okay, I just gotta ask..
Dolph/Steph, will the full tour be announced soon? Some of us are definitely planning to go to some shows and need to make plans PLUS some of these tickets are already on sale, and I'd hate for us to miss out!
Thanks!

--
Wish me luck, I know you think I'll need it.
For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone.

Just got the tickets for the Amsterdam Paradiso show on 22 march 2010!
So excited to be able to finally see them live...

Like other members on the board here I wonder about it not being officially announced. In the newsletter I get every detail about every show they play in America. And now when they finally come to Europe... nothing!?
From the dates en venues I read about... it's a very short and small tour in small venues (Paradiso show is 250 people). Something like a try-out for larger shows later on perhaps? It reminds me (a long long time ago...) of the first European shows Bruce Springsteen played; two in London, one in Amsterdam...
And I'm just as excited as I was back then...
