Fav Pretty Girl From....... Song

Right Now which I'm sure with most people favorite avett songs can change from moment to moment cause there are so many. I would have to say Pretty girl from Cedar Lane cause there is a pretty girl from a diner that i fell in love with you there that proves the fool that i can often be. Hope the avett brots make more in the pretty girls series in the future.

Chile.
Easily.
I think this one is a classic.
I like any Pretty Girl...... song.
And Cedar Lane is wonderful (lyrics are brilliant)..... and Airport has such a lovely melody, especially the way Seth handles the "I know..."s.
But, Chile. Definitely, Chile.
Annapolis, but Chile is definetely 2nd
Good question!! Annapolis first and Cedar Lane second. Locust and Airport are beautiful, too...just on different ends of the spectrum compared to Annapolis and Cedar Lane (they're a lot slower).
I like Chile, but surprisingly it's the pretty girl song I like the least. I love the first half, but I don't like how it gets all crazy at the end!
Ahhhh, gosh.. this is hard. Honestly, I don't think I can say what my favorite is. I can't decide between pgAirport, pgRaleigh, pgCedarlane, pgChile.
One? Can't do it.
Cedar Lane because they just sang it at Appel Farms last weekend.
Annapolis because I live here LOL
And guess this one....My name is "Carly" which is a lot like Carla" LOL

"Free is not your right to choose.
It's answering what's asked of you.
To give the love you find until it's gone."
(and they do!!!!)
Carly, Annapolis? I live in Frederick. I'm sure I'll be seeing you at all the east coast show, then.

I have rules. Never eat or drink in underwear or pajamas/Scott Avett
stirred and carly i used to live right by frederick in Walkersville! anyways mine's gotta be "Airport". the melody is magnificent and the lyrics are so so memorable;
"wish me luck i know you think i'll need it"
absolutely classic. also, i realized the other day do you think this series or idea by the brothers was inspired by the doc watson song "More Pretty Girls Than One"? they also mention that song in "Let Myself Live" so i think i figured it out haha.
Locust, Airport, Cedar Lane. Looooooocust.
Taryn just nailed my top three, order and all.
Zach, I'm sure they were inspired by Doc. They've covered the song once or twice, too:

All that comes, it comes here to pass
Airport, hands down, then the next three are kinda mixed up, depending on the day, Cedar Lane, Annapolis, and Locust. But man, Raleigh and Matthews are so great live...Chile and San Diego are probably my least favorite. Wait, am I missing any? Well, Letter to a Pretty Girl and Pretty Girl from _____, but I don't really count either of those.
But if I had to say just one, that's easy, Airport.

I will keep my wits about myself, disregard directions sent from hell.
well if we're doing top three:
1. Airport
2. Cedar Lane
3. Raleigh
Forgetting Feltre, Jenn! On today of all days

All that comes, it comes here to pass
I knew I had to be forgetting one--can't believe I forgot that one! thanks Emma.
But, that still wouldn't crack my top three. it's prob. in my bottom 3, actually, though the new version is another story....

i agree chillix. feltre was probably my least fav pretty girl song, then i heard that new guitared-up acoustic version on psychadelic pawnshop and was stunned. naturally i went and learned how to play and sing it...and it has crept up the charts a few spots!
Ooooh I forgot Matthews. I know we're not making lists, but that's my #4.
I'm just going to rank in order
1. Airport
2. Locust
3. Raleigh
4. Cedar Lane
5. Matthews
6. Chile
7. Annapolis
8. San Diego
9. Feltre
It was really hard to put Annapolis and San Deigo so low, because I still love both songs. Feltre has yet to really click with me in 3 years. Save for the awesome version that surfaced this week.
Pretty girl at the airport is definitely one of my favorites! i love all of the other ones, but Airport has the slow pace, picking, strings and glowing vocals that i can't find anywhere else! all of it together sounds completely beautiful and deep.
the physical music and lyrics have a unique quality that just moves me every time.
Such a tough decision because they're all so good, but if I must, here's my ranking:
1. Airport
2. Chile (this was the first song I ever heard by the Avetts, so naturally it holds a special place for me)
3. San Diego
4. Annapolis
5. Cedar Lane
6. Raleigh
7. Matthews
8. Locust (I grew up right next door in Stanfield!)
9. Letter
10. Feltre
1. Raleigh
2. Airport
3. Locust
4. Matthews
Cedar Lane than Chile
Pretty Girl at the Airport is my favorite song right now! Ever since I heard it live in Savannah, I can't get it out of my head. It gives me chills it's so good.

"I'll spend the rest of my life bringing victory in...if you want me to"
1-Cedar Lane.
2-Chile
3-Airport

Home in Carolina
1. Cedar Lane (I heard them do this live in Roanoke, Va last year and it was AMAZING!!)
2. Airport
3. Locust
1. Cedar Lane (I heard them do this live in Roanoke, Va last year and it was AMAZING!!)
2. Airport
3. Locust
i would say Pretty Girl from Boone North Carolina
They sang it at the Appalachian Roots Revival in Spring 2007

a forest bird never wants a cage
I thought I knew the answer to this question, then when I actually looked at the list of pretty girl songs I realized I could not choose, or it is a lost cause, but I will try none the less.
Airport
Cedar Lane
Annapolis
Raleigh
Chile
Airport is my favorite, but just re-listened to all the PG songs to decide on the rest - this one's hard, they're all great!
1. Airport (hands down, gives me chills every time I hear it)
2. Locust
3. Cedar Lane
4. Chile
5. Annapolis
6. Raleigh
7. Letter
8. Matthews
9. San Diego
10. Feltre (Although like a lot of you have mentioned, I love the Crackerfarm video version, and that makes me feel bad putting it last. I'm with you, blasto - it's just never clicked with me)
Wonder if we'll ever get another new PG song...

I just want my life to be true
Just want my heart to be true
They are all so good, but currently:
1. Annapolis (first TAB song that I ever heard)
2. Cedar Lane (hearing it live twice has got me hooked)
3. Feltre (Crackerfarm video version, original would be bumped down below Matthews)
4. Chile (#'s 4-8 are interchangeable depending on my mood)
5. Airport
6. Locust
7. Raleigh
8. Matthews
9. San Diego
10. Letter
Sorry, I know that no one asked for an explanation for each of my choices
Oh, I hope there will be more!
I've only heard a few but I really like Chile and San Diego.
I need to go and find these other pretty girl songs!!!
I really want someone to ask them why they name so many of their songs "Pretty Girl from...."
OKAY! I just heard 'Pretty Girl At the Airport"
I think my heart was stolen. (:
locust, raleigh, & annapolis...in that order
Chile is definitely the most powerful, especially live. but Cedar Lane really is catchy. At the Airport is incredible live because of the way Seth doesn't follow the version on Mignonette and he just does it his own way. Amazing band overall.
Airport...Ive been listening to it straight for like 45 minutes. Such a great song, the banjo, guitar, voice...just PERFECT.
It's forever changing for me, but right now it's Airport. When I change out CD's in my car it'll be different.
Airport. That song is perfect in oh so many ways.
Where are Feltre and Cedar Lane? I know where all the other Pretty Girls can be found...just not these two. Thanks.
Feltre is off of 4 Thieves Gone and Cedar Lane is off of Mignonette
@proudnsomanyways I thought you meant where as in geographical location
Is this really a pretty girl song? I've never heard anything about it...

@love, I thought the same thing. No idea about pgAL, but would love to know the answer.
I hadn't seen that video before, lovewritesaletter, thanks for sharing. They are going to town! I wonder why we haven't heard of this song before.
Sorry for the confusion, but where geographically are Feltre and Cedar Lane?
The PG from Alabama song changes names according to the town they are playing. I've seen it live in Dewey Beach, DE.
Feltre is in northern Italy. I believe Scott spent a month over there studying art. He talks about buying his favorite sunglasses in Feltre here: http://indianapolis.metromix.com/music/article/scott-avett-stylemaker/17...
I'm not sure about Cedar Lane, but my guess is somewhere in NC.
I love all of them of course.
Cedar Lane is amazing live.
But i still just love Airport. Its so beautiful.
I totally forgot to post my favorite, but maybe that's because, I just can't!!!! The whole notion of them having that sentiment in so many great songs, just blows me away...I do think "airport" is the sweetest...but "San Diego" is so much fun and "Chile" is so full of emotion and Emotionalism is what turned me from a fan into a rabid fan...so, see, I can't pick a favorite, but I would LOVE to see them do a setlist of all the PG songs...
There are a ton of Cedar Lane in NC as I am sure there are in most every state, but I would wager it is in NC...
@ katminelli, that's one of my favorite Scott articles. I love how he mentions his ugly brown coat.
"I have rules. Never eat or drink in underwear or pajamas. I rarely go without shoes of some sort either."
@lovewritesaletter, a setlist of PG songs sounds fantastic.
We got a setlist of all PG songs last summer in Syracuse. I will never forget it. I honestly would be shocked if they pulled that one again.
Oh wow, really?!! I missed that somehow - I'm very, very jealous
I can't imagine it will happen again, but a girl can hope. I'd be thrilled with just seeing Airport or Locust.
Found the setlist in case anyone's curious - freaking AMAZING:

ETA: taryn, your review from that show is awesome. What an incredible experience that must have been.
lovelikethemovies: That is one of my favorite articles too. Partly because of the "It's too cold to be barefoot, child." Priceless.
Oh and since I never answered the original question:
1. Pretty Girl at the Airport
2. Pretty Girl from Locust
3. Pretty Girl from Cedar Lane
4. Pretty Girl from Raleigh
5. Pretty Girl from Annapolis
6. Pretty Girl from Chile (I actually used to skip this one a regular basis until I saw it live. Then it clicked for me, and I've really liked it ever since.)
7. Pretty Gril from Matthews
8. Pretty Girl from Feltre (although the acoustic version would give Annapolis pretty stiff competition for the #5 spot)
9. Pretty Girl from San Diego
O + M + Goodness gracious!!! That setlist make me gasp! truly! I hadn't seen that. Thanks @lovelikethe movies for posting! I am gonna visualize that for the Raleigh show! Could happen!!!!!!
