Hey, we've had fave songs, fave covers etc., so why not your favorite word. It's Friday afternoon, I've finished my work, I'm scouring Youtube for fun covers and other Crackerfarm goodness, and therefore I'm in a good mood.
I've got a few for Seth: Time, Fire, Pile (It must be the fact that he puts two syllables into the 'i', which is just so endearing)
and 'arrow' in Black Blue.
I don't have any yet for Scott or Bob. Off to listen to more...what a shame.

I love how Seth sings "ride" on Laundry Room on that performance that was just on CMT. I could listen to that line over and over.
Thanks for reminding me about that performance. Seth's whole harmony on that is one long drink of gorgeousness.
And see, another 'i' word!
I found Scott's word: body
doesn't EVERYONE love the way Seth sings, EYES, in the live version of Ballad of Love and Hate's "Hope fills his eyes!"
Scott singing "sorrow" in November Blues live and for Seth "head" in the lowering. There's plenty more Words I love those are just my favourites.
I'm surprised no one has said childern.
I think Seth's Ya'll in SSS is so cute "Ya'll should be broken hearted too.
I love "sign" in Ballad of Love and Hate.
Ackerin (that town in Ohio)
gawd from Causey Commentary
Ever notice how Scott carries the S's out on plural words?
"World" and "direction", as sung by Seth in "The Once and Future Carpenter".
I didn't think of children! That's a great one!
Another Seth "i" song is in the live version of When I Drink when he sings the line "but if I think about someone besides myself" - the way he sings besides and then goes into myself is awesome.
childern and gawd are great ones!
I like when Scott says 'will' as in 'fire laser pants at will?' and of course when Seth says Darlin'
I like "will" also. The way he says it, it always made me think of it as a pun, as in, fire laser pants at Will, and I would always say to myself "who's Will?"
I like the way Scott sings "I'd" in Shame.
"I'd like so see those things undo"
Talk on Indolence from Live Vol 3....like how Scott adds the extra syllable to "swimming" as in "SAW-WIMMIN' Trunks"
I love it when Seth sings "ago" at the end of "Carolyn Sells". And of course his lack of words thereafter. He could put out a record of just him humming.

You can feel so much emotion in Scott's voice when he says the word "Yes" in Untitled two. When he says "Am I losing your love? Am I losing your trust. She said yes." It's so powerful, and heartbreaking.
Lure..."the lure of your folks cargo van"
Scott: "dogs" as in one too many mornings and "gone" as in november blue, it sounds like dawgs and gawn
Seth: "split"as in my sides start to split in "about love" and "warm" as in my crucifix warm on my neck in "in the curve"
See, this is why I love TAB - the fans really listen, really hear the words. For some it's the word itself and for others it's the sound. I'm so 'in love' with Seth's vocals, both the harmonies and the lyrics, that I find myself now picking out certain words, writing them down. Giving them a little more power. And then someone reminds me of a word like 'gone' and I find myself saying, 'Yes, Scott can evoke emotion like no-one else'. What is it with these two men's voices?
I'm also exploring more songs more deeply by reading this thread. Let's keep it up: bring on more Avett soul-searching.
"Protect" in January Wedding
"Direct" in Incomplete and Insecure
"Stall your mother" in Laundry Room
"Follow me down" in November Blue
And Seth's parts when he sings Breath of Love with David Mayfield, especially the "feel that way once" line and especially in this video

Mine have to be:
From Scott - "Floor" in Laundry Room
and From Seth - "Lines" in My Last Song to Jenny
I love hearing Seth draw out Yaaaaaaardsaaale in such a gentle tone.
Finally downloaded Seth singing Movin' Out and really listened. I adore the way he says 'groshery' (Anthony works in the groshery store...)
Is groshery wrong?
I like the way Scott says tired in Tales of Coming News. Can't type it phonetically. When they speak, in interviews or elsewhere, I love how Scott favors the word 'absolutely' and Seth the word 'perfect.'
Wonderful site.
I am not ready for my final choice but
'Something has me...' from both brothers in 'Ill With Want' ("I And Love And You") is a good start.
But that is early. There are so many.
Kind-Battle of Love and Hate
Pile-Tear Down the House
I love this thread but there are so many I can't pick one! Here's my favorites for today: orange, dose, know, eternally and the last time he says bell from the home recording of The Mourning, The Silver, The Bell

my favorite is "draw" from the youtube video of Seth singing About Love.

it is at 3:17 and I REALLY suggest you listen to it. gives me the chills
My smile keeps growing as I read this thread! It's too hard to choose a favorite, but I really enjoy when both say "life," or even 'i' sounds in general. Like wuthering, I think it's endearing when they make one syllable words into two syllables.
I have to agree with "will". Always makes me smile.
Soundgarden!
Globetrotters!
I've been having a late night Avett live fest via YouTube, and I've come to the conclusion that I love (how many times can one use that word in relation to the Avetts?) how Scott uses the letter 'o' (think 'floor' in Laundry) and how Seth uses the letter 'i' (think ANY word with an 'i'!!). It's amazing (again, how many times?) how guys who grew up with each other have such distinct sounds to vowels. I like the western-ish NC accent in a man anyway, and to have two men sing with such perfect sounds...ah, bliss.
I like the way Scott says everything in "Laser Pants."
SSS wauk, or wouk? as in walk...
All words with the letter i, of course. My favorite for Seth is 'eyes', or maybe 'follow'.
"Dad" in Murder in the City
I've got the Brothers in constant rotation on my iPod in preparation for the Toronto shows, and found a new cool sound that I really like. It's in Please Pardon Yourself - it's the "yea-h-h-h" after the line ..."screaming my lungs out with nothing to say". There's just some little bit of rawness or something else Scott's voice right there. I actually stop singing along at about there just so I can be sure to hear him.
Less than 2 months now...
I'm pretty partial to "Red See-Quents" in "Those Green Eyes"
I echo emeegee above, but I think every sound that comes out of those men (David and Seth) is worthy of an entire planet all for themselves. 'You just need to feel that way once'. Amen. But I'm lucky I feel that every time Seth or Scott sings. Does being a TAB fan mean we ARE the 'breath of love'?
For me, it's both of 'em singing about that *daaaaaaaaamned alcohol*... ok, that's 2 words, but i know 'em well!
I love how Scott says "yeah, yeah, yeah" and "sure, sure" in interviews and such! It always makes me smile
It's late, and I'm concidering moving to Asheville, so the Avetts are on my mind - a lot. "For Today" just popped on the random, and I heard the way Scott says 'pocket' and I melted a little.
I just had to join this forum to answer this one....
Every word either one of these gorgeous boys says/sings just makes my day better!!
Pleeeeeeeeeease come back to the UK soon!!!

"Good GAWD!"
How Seth says "kind"
I know... I know
