Four Thieves Gone artwork/symbolism

Four Thieves Gone artwork/symbolism

I searched the boards/threads for some information about this and all I came across was a thread that didn't work.

Does anyone know any details about the symbolism of the artwork from the four thieves gone cd? This is something I have always wondered about. Especially the crooked top of the anchor. I had assumed it was artwork of Scott's but that's really as far as I got. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance Laughing out loud

I could be wrong, but I believe Seth told me that the cover is Scott's and the cd artwork is his. As far as symbolism, I don't know.

I wanna have friends that I can trust,
That love me for the man I’ve become, not the man that I was.

I'm pretty sure the pen represents Pale Face, as he did some writing for the album. Not sure on the others

...this next song is called "Welcome to Atlanta, where the players play"

I believe Scott did the cover art and Seth did the CD art.
If I remember correctly it’s
Scott = rabbit
Seth = moth
Bob = compass
Dane = anchor
Paleface = pen (note the PF on the pen)

"To some extent I happily don't know what I'm doing. I feel that it's an artist's responsibility to trust that. ." - David Byrne

Each image represents a different member of the band, to my recollection it goes like this :

Scott - Rabbit
Seth - Moth
Bob - Compass
Dane - Anchor
Paleface - Pen (with PF in calligraphy on it)

As far as why each member represents each symbol, I've only ever heard speculation.

Seth as the moth because he was going through a sort of metamorphisis at the time
Bob as the compass because he was doing a lot of travelling at the time
Paleface as the pen because he helped contribute to the writing of the album

I have no clue about why Scott is the rabbit, and as far as Dane being the anchor, I think those of us who have met Dane know that one speaks for itself.

Dammit David, you beat me! Odd that we put them in the same order.

Scott - some say I got rabbit in my blood.

Total speculation, but rabbits, always running, energy, nervous, etc...

At the end of the set, the old man who was going to be behind the wheel for the long haul home said, "Boys, that gave me God bumps."

Always wondered about a couple of those. Thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks guys! stirred: your post made me laugh out loud...
