Free shows are awesome.
I saw TAB in NYC for free in 2008.
It was great!

I'll see you in the morning time.

Telluride was my first Avett Brothers show, but I have been a fan for a couple years. It was great to finally see them live. I had heard their live shows had a lot of energy, but didn't know what to expect.

As a bonus, we arrived a few hours early and they just happened to be out warming up (there were like a half dozen other people there on the grass with us, tops.) They played some songs off their new album that they didn't play during the concert and I was really moved. I'm glad we got there early. I can't wait to get the new album.

Plus, I got to meet Scott and talk with him while he signed a pile of CDs for me.. He told me the story behind Causey Commentary and getting sprayed by turkey sh*t, and the reason for all the 'girl from' songs.

So my advice to all you true believers is to get there early - you might get a nice surprise!

^ what did he say?

Changing the plans that I’ve been setting on
I’m scared by the way that my life is getting gone

They were broken down on the side of the highway. They were recording themselves while waiting next to the car (he said they do quite a bit of that) when a big truck drove by, spraying them with the aforementioned turkey sh*t. The guy narrating is their friend Causey. Scott attributes his mispronunciation of 'Avett' (as 'Evett') to the fact that Causey is from New Jersey. It's Causey's laugh you hear at the end of One Line Wonder.

As for the 'Girl From' songs, Scott said they were made to appease each girlfriend he had after breaking up with the first girl he wrote a song for (which makes perfect sense.)

I didn't ask her name.. any guesses?

This of course begs the burning question: Does that mean the PG from series is over now that they're married?

Any mention of that, cDub?

(Inquiring minds...Cool)

No mentions, sorry (or if he did, I forgot - my memory is horrible, and I was a bit star-struck at the time.)

What I won't forget is how gracious Scott was. He really seemed to appreciate the fact that I love their music.
