email sent, thanks for the heads up!
You are very welcome (I really really wanted it to be a true fan)
PS I HAVE THE ALBUM!!!!!!!! i really want to talk about it, but the publicist has us on the hush hush until we are given the green light to talk about it.

Braggart!!!

(Can't say I really blame ya, though...hearts are breaking, ears are yearning to hear this one and it's been such a long time coming!)
ETA: Will you be at the show in L.A. on Saturday, Jawbreaker?
Angischy,
Yeah Im gonna be there but i havent bought my ticket yet (not sure if Columbia can set me up with a guest list spot yet), but were my eyes deceiving me when i saw the cost was 40-350 dollars for tickets at the Orpheum?!!!
You going?

That’s a pretty subjective contest. Who is the judge?
PS; We are all real happy for you having the new CD and all.
wow these responses on the site are great!!!!! this is the best one so far;
"Young people today have grown up in a world characterized by fear, uncertainty, and above all, cynicism. The best pop culture has been able to offer in response is ... irony. Well, enough of that. Irony keeps us distant. The Avett Brothers bring us in close again, close to what's real, to honesty, to family, to friendship. Three words that became hard to say ... the brothers are helping us speak them again."
well done realish

Yes, Jason, I'll be there.
Tix are still available through "normal" outlets at face value. Ticket brokers, as ever, will offer tix at whatever price they feel like offering them at, and it's up to the customer/market to decide their true value.
Fear not, but don't wait much longer to nab tix. I have one extra up in the 4th row - is anyone still in need of one?
Thanks for the heads up, jawbreaker!
It's so hard for me to put into words how I feel about TAB's music, though...I'm leaving the e-mail window open on my computer and adding a little bit more as each phrase occurs to me.
beatles_gal - i had the same issue, but then when i saw it was 2 to 3 sentences, and not 2 - 3 pages or more, i was bummed, haha.

It says 2-3 sentences?! Whoops. I'm still working on mine, and it's more like 10 sentences, maybe more...I suppose I'll have to make some of the sentences really long!
Haha, I was doing the SAME thing! It's okay!

I didn't realize that the contest ended last week - I posted my reply today, knowing that it would probably not be considered, but I wanted to share it anyway. Here it is:
I’m entering this contest in order to win tickets to a show for my brother and his wife, who have never heard of the Avett Brothers, let alone seen them live. I haven’t spoken to my brother in several months – we were once very close, but have grown apart recently and cannot see eye to eye on a number of issues. It’s my hope that I will send him these tickets, and he will go to the concert, and, upon hearing their music, his heart will open to me and we can find some common ground.
The reason why the Avetts should – and probably will – become a household name is because they are the only band that I know of that would make this scenario even remotely possible.

Yeah, I"m not sure what I was trying to get across in just a few sentences...at any rate, I'm going to buy them the tickets and hope for the best.

Anyway, I'm super excited to see who wins tomorrow!

The contest sounds like a nice gesture and I hope someone wins the tickets. BUT
This guy has a history of talking a big game and it turns out to be just talk.
He brought up his pending interview months ago asking people for ideas on questions. Any time someone pointed out his lack of basic knowledge (like when he asked this question “is it seth or scott who does the art work on seths banjo and kick drum?” or when he asked which member was married) he would call them (me) a douche bag.
I hope the contest is for real but, well just don’t be surprised if it’s not
i really hope this pans out because i know alot of people entered this contest..

I have just posted the winners, so head on over to CountryMusicPride.com to check it out. Thanks to all of you the submissions were great!!!
PS It is true that what NC4NOW posted, saying that I posted asking for questions from those on the site for an impending interview with the Brothers, but alas I am not a just "talking a big game" but in fact their publicst told me it couldnt be done when she said "Sorry Jason but we can't hook this up. So sorry about it!!!! The guys plates are just beyond full today with instore and soundcheck." ANd just FYI NC4NOW, I called you a douche bag not because I didnt know who was married and other "basics" but because that was obvious as to who was married by way of the post above, and you just happen to pass by it before you dropped your ad homenins (so again, you leave out the story, so again I maintain my stance that you are, indeed, a douche bag)
I did go back and read through that entire thread. I stand by my original impression. You were totally clueless then and anytime anyone, not just me, called you on it you became an obnoxious ass. The questions you were wanting answers to would have fit perfectly in People Magazine or on The View.
If you do ever inflict yourself on the band I know they will suffer through it with grace. But please make it easier on them by knowing their names and what instrument they each play before going in. If you ask Seth who painted his banjo he might have a hard time holding back a laugh.
NC4Now,
Take it easy. Just because the guy might not have known what we consider basic information (ie : who plays what, etc) keep in mind, not everyone does. A lot of people like bands and don't know the band members' names, etc. You don't have to be a diehard to enjoy the music. Or to be a music writer and enjoy the band enough to want to find out more.
I've spoken privately with jawbreaker regarding the Avett Brothers on several different occasions, and he's never been anything but nice to me. I didn't go back and read through the thread, but I'd imagine if I came on here for the first time looking for fans to get interview questions from, and was made fun of for not knowing what they consider to be basic facts, I'd have been more than a little defensive.
But again, I didn't re-read the thread, so there could be some more deeply personal vendetta I'm not aware of. I was a little suspicious myself that the interview never came to pass, but honestly, not all that surprised. I've never seen them interviewed as a group, it's always one of either Scott, Seth, or Bob. If he was trying to get all 3 together for an interview, I'd see how that could be difficult to make happen.
Can't we all just play nice?
The guy was mighty quick to call people names for no apparent reason.
It could be just a misguided sense of humor, but I can see why NC is not too fond of him.

"Jazz is not dead, it just smells funny." - Frank Zappa
I don't really remember a majority of that thread, but if that's the case, I'm sorry to have made a fuss. All I know is my personal experience with the guy. When I have spoken with him privately and he was nothing but kind, and definitely was able to verify the fact that he has been in contact with TAB's publicist for some time now so he's probably not just BS'ing about the tickets/contest.
personally, i don't think it should be brought up again. it was a fight then, and clearly it's still a fight. people take sides, people call each other names, blah blah blah. let it die for our sake and yours, huh?
Dear all,
Yes yes let us lay it to rest, i am apologize for being a ghoul.
In other news the contest went brilliantly and seeing them in LA was great (but driving all the way to camp mather and missing them was horrible)

year of the creek.
So anyway, congrats to Shana Ferguson and Matt Goold.
1st – Shana Ferguson (2 free tix to any Avett show and a copy of I & Love & You once it is released)
2nd- Matt Goold (a copy of I & Love & You once it is released)
So I heard you want to know why The Avett Brothers will become a household name?
Let’s start by saying that they are unparalleled in todays age of song writing. This might be surprising to some, but that’s not even a hyperbole. For them to be able to pump out album after album with literally no duds on each record is something that will be looked back on and be quite an astonishing fact. I am confident that my children will listen to The Avett Brothers in the same way I listen to The Beatles. It is pure, honest, and unbelievable song writing. In addition to their knack for writing and crafting songs, they have the musicianship to match, guaranteeing an enjoyable listen time after time.
The Avett Brothers are the only band that can demand such a wide selection of emotions from me. This music is real.
