Aw, you guys had a great night!!! Got some gems, right there...

woah My Losing Bet, Feb 20, and Walking for You? Great set.

stupified! so happy for you all! WOW!!!

Oh such a good set list! I thought nothing could top last night, but Feb 20, 2000, Walking for You, & My Losing Bet! The best part is my friend's sister got engaged yesterday and her and her fiance going to today's show. So... we asked Seth to play "Swept Away" last night after while we were talking to him. He pointed to his head and said "I'll try to keep it up here". They played it as the last song and she called us for us!
It's unbelievable how happy I was. Seth and Scott are the best people on the planet.

Oh man these lists lately hurt they're so good!

Words fail me. So very happy for everyone who was there tonight. There are many many gems in that setlist!

Holy...

Amazing setlist! I joked earlier that they should play Feb. 20 2000 today, but they really did!

Also as Karissa said, I told Seth in Wilkes Barre about my sister getting engaged and going to the Geneva show. She was beyond thrilled when they played Swept Away like he said he would. Smiling Gotta love those boys.

@thenaming of things, so did i! I almost cried when they said they were going to. Seth didn't play the bridge, but i didn't care because i doubt too many people can say they've heard that song live. Even more ironic, i was at a casino today and made the joke that they'll probably play my losing bet because i lost all the money i took to spend, haha. This was my sixth time seeing the boys, and it was by far my favorite set.

I thought he was saying gray goose in PGCL, but I may have been wrong. Also, I love the name for their encore jam!

The whole night took an unexpected (for most of us) turn when David Mayfield opened instead of JLM (she'd gone to NYC to prepare for an appearance on Letterman Monday night). David and band brought us terrific energy and fabulous stage presence, so different from what I had steeled myself for, and they played great, too. Really set everyone in the mood for the set reported above. The back-to-back solos on Feb 20 and Murder were breathtaking -- and the audience mostly quieted down to listen and show respect.

Great show! No one wanted it to end, especially when we walked outside to discover several inches of snow on the car and the roads. Memorable in every respect. I'm glad all the long-distance travelers I talked to were spending the night in Geneva.

GREAT GATS. I NEED VIDEOS!

looks like they've had three amazing nights in a row!! so sorry I couldn't be there tonight, but last night was amazing so I can't complain!

Geneva treated us right Smiling So glad we got to experience Feb 20, 2000.. it's one of those things that will never ever happen again! The silence was beautiful. Ahh...... definitely in my top 3 favorite Avett concerts!!

Impressive, I have only heard them do February 20, 2000 one time, and it was back on February 20, 2005. You guys were very lucky.

Ineed we were. I asked Seth about it after the show and he said he remembered the date 30 minutes before they went on and so he was trying to remember how to play it in that time. Also said he had only played it once before. All in all one of my favorite shows ever.

man so many amazing things about this night... the transition from go to sleep from i&l&y gave me such chills. feb 20, 2000 left me speechless. also when Scott said my son during murder in the city.. definitely a night i'll never forget. oh and i can't forget to mention David Mayfield and his parade; they know how to rock!

Wow! What an incredible string of shows! So lucky for those in attendance. Amazing stuff....

i have feb 20 2000 recorded.. it is kinda the opposite of high quality; the image is not good but the audio is pretty clear- a few cackles here and there. is it against code to post it on youtube?

Whoaaa - Murder in the City with "son/mother"? Who has a son!?

What is this Feb 20 song everyone's so excited about? Is it an original?

lovejoysajm,
It is an original from their self-titled EP released way back in 2000.

This show was so special. Some people thought Scott said "grape juice" during PGF Cedar Lane.... tee hee...

Also, I'd like to give a swift kick in the pants to whoever in the venue decided that all of us standing in front of the stage needed to go find seats or sit down on the floor away from the stage. I also want to thank Dane for saving the day. This turned out to be one of the best show I've ever been to--truly amazing! I don't think there was a dry eye in the front row. Eye-wink

Daayuuumm.

My Losing Bet is top 3 in my never heard-but-wanna list.

And Feb 20?! What!?!

Congrats to those in the house.

freezey, It’s cool to post that video and I for one would love to see it
lovesjoyajm, No one has a son (but give it a few months), and Feb. 20, 2000 is an original song that was released on the Brothers first self released EP Vol.1

I would love to see the video too.

Last night was unreal. I can't count the amount of times I said "oh my gosh" or put my hand over my mouth or my heart. We were all amazed and felt truly blessed.
I felt so surprised...

It was such an amazing show.
2nd time seeing the boys live.
I was standing 2nd row and I had the best time dancing and singing along.
what is Hfod tho?

Head Full Of Doubt

Managed to be coherent and quick enough to get both Feb. 20 and Murder in the City. Sorry for the shakiness and weird angles; cameras were strictly forbidden and I had to be discrete. We've already watched it about 10 times; unbelievable.

This was an amazing show.

Wow. Thank you for getting and sharing that video.

Gunnar comes through again. Brilliant job. Thank you.

Why thank you, doc. Just for that, I've added My Losing Bet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5cx6x2CIns

I missed the first lines in the frantic haste/amazement of hearing them open with it, but it's a goody.

It was truly an amazing night all-around. It began with my daughter and i getting in line early (around 5) and immediately realizing that we were amongst a great group of people. The 2 cold hours of waiting were much more enjoyable thanks to 2 families, a fellow teacher, and a professor with a cool hat. The show was amazing, my daughter and I were at the stage and loved it (except for when we were told to "sit down"). I have to admit that I wasn't familiar with a few songs (Feb. 20, Spanish Pipedream) but we were in awe for most of the show. I did get a little annoyed with some of the yelling and shouting during the slower more intense songs. I was just waiting for someone to scream or yell something stupid during Feb. 20 and Murder.

We are now getting tickets for VT for our next show (thanks to our friends in line for letting me know kids 13 and under will be free)

BillNRoc (I think it was you) I was thinking of you when I heard the change in opening act! David Mayfield Parade was quite entertaining!

True, I was not displeased when I heard about the Mayfield switch, even though I'd never seen DMP perform. And their set was fabulous as an opener for the set that followed. I really liked The Low Anthem last Feb in Ithaca, but the DMP high-energy was a better fit.

BTW, the reason the house staff tried to clear part of the area in front of the stage was to accommodate David Mayfield, so he could dive down to the floor while he was playing "Divin' Duck," the old Sleepy John Estes/Taj Mahal/Johnny Winter blues. Once he finished, the staff let people fill back in. Given that DMP required a lot more staff effort than JLM would have, I think they did a pretty good job overall.

Actually it was because the fire marshal came by and didnt like what he saw so he told the staff to do something about it, but then Dane spoke with the fire marshal which probably means he was paid to keep quiet. This was one of my favorite shows but I seriously have no desire to go back to Geneva ever again due to the inconsistent venue rules, non-communicative staff, ever present police force, and bribe accepting fire marshal.

David Mayfield would never make people go back to their seats. He seemed shocked & confused at the whole ordeal. I'm with Andre--no desire to go back to Geneva again.

Thanks for clarifying what happened at the front of the hall. I made the mistake of inferring causation from sequence.

The police presence in front of the hall drew a lot of comment from folks standing in line. Perhaps the story in the local paper on Friday -- about how TAB attract many fans who travel long distances to attend concerts -- suggested to local authorities that this was an opportunity to generate revenue for local government. The staff at one local tavern did warn patrons about "unlawful" behavior.

I did attend a concert at a related venue in Geneva last fall and none of this stuff happened there. (Ra Ra Riot played a benefit in a converted factory the night before they went out on tour.) So don't rule out any future visit based on one experience (although outdoor venues in warm months are more attractive).

Thanks for posting the set and the videos!

I see some other kind soul posted a few as well:

What a setlist, wish I could have seen it!

ah well I see a few beat me to it... kcjonez' video is much better, i've watched it a few times, but hey here is my Feb 20 2000 for the heck of it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqgmZakSmEQ

I was none too pleased with the whole fire marshall mishap, it caused me to lose my front row spot

This was the first show for my husband and me despite an awful lot of wishing and an obsession with the music that borders on slightly unhealthy. Heck it was our first date night, ever, in almost four years. Drove nine hours in a snowstorm (should've been six but the highway was closed) with a screaming baby and toddler, stood in the cold for an hour and some to get good seats, checked my phone about a billion times to make sure my babies were okay, and then knew it was more than worth the effort as soon as we heard the first strains of My Losing Bet. NEVER thought we would hear that live! And feb 20?!? Wow! I can imagine lots of folks post things like this, so please pardon any repeats and starry-eyed-new-fan cliches, but man. We were just so moved by the incredible show that I just had to say something. Smiling

Oh and big thanks to tami and "addicted" for getting us, and our toddler, hooked. Eye-wink

Does anybody have a good video of the encore, more specifically of Swept Away? I found one on youtube, but it's just so far away you can barely see where the stage is.

nice first post. nice screen name too. keep it simple.

Okay so, I have a serious question.. Was that guy upfront really David Mayfield's dad? If so it was so cute. Also I was so mad when the bouncer told us we had to move because David wanted to get down off stage, and everyone else got to stay for the entire show, seriously what would 4 people really have made a difference? We had to move to the complete opposite side and stand against a wall. I was stuck standing so close to this couple who would not keep their hands of each other and kissed literally every 5 seconds, come on, enjoy the show. Other than that the music was great, little bit of a weak ending. I was hoping they would end with Will You Return, my favorite song. Oh well. Random that it is my favorite song and in the Tiny Bus Concert Jessica Lea Mayfield and David Mayfield are in it.

nice to see you here hw! glad you enjoyed yourself and hope to see in VT.

Twas a great night all around! My experience was beyond amazing for many different reasons. Glad to have been there and witness such pure joy!

adidasandaero: that was not his dad. Did security actually tell you to move so David could get off the stage? That just sounds crazy.

I was up front and when they pushed us to the side the staff told us the fire marshall came and everyone needed to find a seat... I took David jumping off the stage as an attempt to make the best of the situation and keep the energy going. Some people sat where they were standing... It was great when he had the crowd chanting something along the lines of "we will never sit again" once everyone made their way back.

Just had to revisit this setlist, what an amazing show this was. Did anyone get a video of Laundry Room? I'm trying to find it for my student that I took with me and can't seem to find one. Thanks if someone out there has it!

Weird..I have been thinking about this show all day.

Tami,
It was a great show! That venue did not allow any cameras...and made sure to tell all of us in line over and over again that they wouldn't let us in with one. So, I don't think there's too many videos floating around, unfortunately. I did get vide of Feb 20 on my phone, at least. I don't think anyone could have stopped me from recording that one Smiling

I know about the whole camera thing, and most times, there are people out there who have videos. I've found lots of Feb. 20 and a few others. Just hoping someone got LR. I'll just keep checking!

There are shows and there are SHOWS....... that was definately a SHOW. I wish I could help you out on the video. I know that night was especially emotional for you and your student. It was a very special thing to witness, it added to the already phenomenal evening. You are a great teacher, the whole situation was very inspiring!
